Subject: Subscriber was removed for marking a message as spam

Hello,

This is to notify you that Krystalsplayground@... has been unsubscribed from your group [email protected] because a message to them was marked as spam. Note that this may have been done by their email service provider, not by the individual member personally. They've been given a link that lets them quickly resubscribe, in case this was an error.

To turn off this notification, log into and edit your subscription.

Thank you for choosing Groups.io groups.

Cheers,

The Groups.io Team

Pat -- I should also mention that you have to be logged in under your ComCast address for any subscription changes to work. Pull down your name in the menu at upper right...if it doesn't show your ComCast address, you're logged into the wrong account. Log out and then log back in using the correct one.

Comcast issue

I have two emails, one is a comcast email, I use it as my backup for lists I own. I like to get digests to archive, and use the comcast email for that purpose.

I understand what you¡¯re saying ?but I think the group owners asking here have for the most part done their due diligence and are now frustrated to the nth degree because they don¡¯t understand something or can¡¯t find it.?

What is so wonderful about the volunteers at GMF is their patience and kindness and speed in answering questions asked by bewildered owners who are stuck on something. It¡¯s hard enough being in a new place after years or decades of knowing their way around. The last thing I¡¯d want to do is make them feel bad, like they didn¡¯t do their homework, if they post here.?

Re: Yahoo deleted our group

Yvette Money

This happened to a Yahoo group that I was a member of about two years ago.? The original group disappeared one day, so the owners created another group with the same name but the number 2 after it.? Many of the members found it when trying to search for the old group and migrated there.? The people who knew email addresses of other members sent out messages to those members as well to tell them of the change.? It wasn't a perfect fix, and many of the original members were lost but at least the group lived on in a new form.? The owners of the old group contacted Yahoo at the time and never got any answers.? The old group was never restored so all of the old, important messages were lost.? About a year ago the group was moved over to Groups.io due to all of the challenges with Yahoo and we have never regretted it.

Quite correct!? Thanks for catching that.? I was looking at it from the perspective of using the Donations page as opposed to simply asking for donations.

It's even fine to require people to be members of a dues collecting club before they can join the group.? Not too difficult for a small club (like mine), but could easily get very time consuming with a larger one.

If you open a member notice of type Group Guidelines, you should find a checkbox to that effect just above the editor.
The only options that I see are:

Notice Type (dropdown list)
Name (fill-in field)
Subject (fill-in field)
Email Subject (fill-in field)
Private (checkbox)
Send on join (checkbox)
Send monthly to group (checkbox)

There is no option to eioher include or not include Special Notices Only members.

Regular PayPal buttons are rendered as an html form. Forms, iframes and similar constructs are stripped by the groups.io editor before save.
That is true -- a real PayPal button is not an option, but some other payment systems' buttons do work.

For example, the Liberapay button is just an image with a hyperlink that links directly to the donations page on Libera. (People who want to donate, do have to register with Liberapay, though.) Liberapay's hyperlink is in the form , so you can add that to a plaintext footer too.

[Liberapay is only for recurring payments (but you can cancel a recurring payment after one payment). To receive donations using Liberapay, one needs to connect to either PayPal or Stripe. (I don't know what is needed to donate using Liberapay.)]

Crowdfunder.co.uk's donation link is in the format , so you can take any self-made button and put the donation link as a hyperlink on the button. With Crowdfunder.co.uk, people can donate anonymously but they don't have to.

Message Downloads/Transfers

One last question, everyone - and THANK YOU for your help today, before I forget!

I have some 17,000 messages to move from Yahoogroups to my Group.io group. I have moved everything else myself manually, since I don't have $220 to spare :-). Is there any way to just get the messages downloaded and then uploaded myself to my list? I would REALLY LIKE to keep all of them, but I wouldn't probably be able to load them manually into the years they came over in, and it would be confusing to have so many in one year. Even if I could do that, though, there is NO WAY I can download and upload that many myself, I'll be sitting here for years. Any suggestions? All ears! Needs to be free, or at least very cheap.

Thanks,
Cindi

Hello

On the GMF wiki page about "Member Notices", it says:
