transferring from yahoo best practices
I've created a new group and requested the group info at yahoo be transferred.
?
The instructions page for yahoo transfers (/yahootransfer) says the following in the notes
I understand from an email I received that if some messages or content is not transferred that will be noted in the email confirming the transfer is complete.? I'd like to be able to look at that info before I have the welcome message sent. So my questions are:?
1) for the first bullet?point above, how do I specify for GIO NOT to send a notice to every member? and?
2) If the Welcome message is not active at the time of the transfer, does that mean it will not be sent?? And if so, then how is it best to send a welcome message when I am ready?

Re: Your group has been transfered
Have you seen the previous thread? Not sure if that is the issue, of course.?

trouble with active member notices
#membernotices
Anyone else having trouble with their member notices?? I'm the owner of 3 groups and for some reason on all 3 I'm having trouble getting the member notices to make sense. If i change one (such as welcome) it seems to apply the changes to the others (such as goodbye etc). Now I've got no member notices and when i try to Add it just doesn't stick. This trouble seems to have started in the last month or so. Any suggestions?? Many thanks, Barb

Re: Unable to reply to just the sender
I think Bruce is right, it's weird.? I'm on one .io group on both yahoo mail and gmail.? When I click reply to sender in yahoo, it works, the sender's name goes in the to box like it's supposed to.? but not on gmail.? But on yahoo group? posts, it worked in gmail.? so who knows.

Then I scroll down and choose the green Reply to Group or click on Private (white button, bottom right) to send just to the author. If you don't see the Private button below the text box (for writing), then you don't have your group set up to allow replies to the sender. (I think someone mentioned this earlier.) Go to Admin, Settings, scroll down to Message Policies. Untick Remove Other Reply Options Removes links on the website and digest to reply options other than your selected Reply To option.
I won't tackle reply from your email. I use the footers. Sometimes I click on Reply in my Apple Mail program. It goes to the right place - the group. Frances ? -- FAQ on Moving from YahooGroups GMF Wiki: (unofficial) Help for members (and would-be members) and group managers |

What should occur is that the button at lower left (which is used to actually send the reply) toggles between a green "Reply to Group" button and a blue "Reply to Sender" button with each click of the "Private" button. As for posts in emails, reply to sender opens a new window, instead of just putting sender's name in to box.? Is this me or the way it's set up?The footer reply link is a fairly straightforward mailto:. Whether such a link opens in a new window depends on the settings of your PC/email client. Bruce |
