Show yourself as present means what exactly? A subscriber to that particular group? Logged in and watching? Just being a subscriber to any given group doesn't mean that you are reading everything that turns up. Some subscribers set their mail delivery to "No Mail". Does that mean that they read posts on the web UI as and when they are submitted, or does it mean that they only read things as and when the mood takes? Just having every profile visible in the directory doesn't actually tell you who everyone is, if only because some people use Display Names that don't reveal their actual identity. Next time you get a Read Receipt for an email you have sent have a look at what it says; It announces that the email has been displayed on the recipient's computer (or whatever) but it reminds you that they may not have read it. Re: Directory not showing all members
Hi all,
It would be really nice to have the option as a list owner (of a restricted group) to decide that it be a premise of the group that all members be displayed in the member directory. While I understand how particularly in a public group that it be a privacy option for members to choose whether their profile is displayed, it would be nice in groups like the one that I administer that you show yourself as present so that contributors can see who is receiving their contributions. Perhaps this could be an option that only shows up to owner/moderators for restricted groups. I am relatively new to the GIO community.... is this discussion forum effectively a feature request forum also or are there other avenues (emailing support@??, etc.) Max |

Re: For a group discussing medical info
Hi Brian -? You may want to not only make the group/messages private but also not list in the directory. That way you can send invites to those who should be included and also require approval.? Please be very careful with the information you share or discuss on the group and ensure it is information the primary person - the patient and center of this team - would be comfortable sharing and who she would want it shared with. One of the worst things about being a patient is not having control of the direction your life is taking, especially if those around you feel you may not be competent. It¡¯s important to include the patient in things as simple as updating family and friends - even if you think they don¡¯t hear or understand.? |

Re: How to collect donations from members to support cost of forum
Derek:
That's what we did for my ControlledVocabulary group. I've been using Paypal for years, but didn't realize you can log in and then go to https://paypal.me/? to create a link.? I put this on a link on the main site on the forum page during the transition, but then took it down.? The end result will look like this, with the [nameyoucreate] being the name you type in the Paypal.me setup.?
https://paypal.me/[nameyoucreate]/20.00USD? You have to specify a default amount, but the person using the link can change the dollar amount after arriving on the page.? BTW, I tried putting that into the "description" of the home page (under the general section after going to ADMIN >> SETTINGS), and it shows in the main home page for my group (see example at): /g/ControlledVocabulary Note you do have to use the "insert link" feature in the toolbar to make it active.? For those without a separate website, you could also put this link into that section in "General" part (Just below the Description).? HTH, David |

Samuel,
Will that active notice then be sent to members whoI would have confidently said "yes", but there has recently been a topic here concerning some transfers where it did not. /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/40205879#22970 Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

When I click on "Join this Group" in a subgroup, I get a red-box error saying "You cannot join this subgroup until you first join the parent group" (or something to that effect). But this is using an email address that already has an account on groups.io. I don't have a unaffiliated email address to test what happens when the email address is unknown to groups.io. This leads me to believe what you're experiencing may be an artifact of the email address confirmation process. Need to think that through a little more on my end. Bruce Tangentially-Related Postscript:? I'm frankly surprised that GMF isn't seeing more complaints from people having difficulties with member management in subgroups. I really expected more Owners to create one group with a bunch of unrelated subgroups in order to get multiple Yahoo Groups transferred under one Premium Yearly payment (i.e.: to subvert the transfer pricing structure). Again, not saying that's your case, or Samuel's -- we talked you through all the caveats well before you did your transfers, and Samuel has been around here a long time. But if others fail to follow the subgroup guidance and subsequently experience issues along those lines I feel that's just . |

But this is only a solution for me and my customers, not for all the other users that have the usal email providers that use also the common blacklisting pools. I know, it is? a lot of work to check the blacklists regulary, but groups.io has to do that and also check in the mail logs why they were blacklisted. We have to do that also on our servers on regular basis, that's normal work if you provide email services. The reputation of your email server is good, according to talos, but blacklistchecking is essential. Isidro |

1. Is paying $20 a month for a year going to get my group transferred, or not?Cassius -- No...you cannot use the Easy Group Transfer process on the Premium Monthly plan. If I have to pay the $220 up front to get my group changed over, what do I do now? I can't find any page that shows what I've paid, or any way to change from $20 month to pay the full $220.00 .?Go back to the same page (Admin>Billing), select the Premium Yearly option, and go through the checkout process again.
