Go to the wiki page in question.
Click on "xxx revisions" at the upper right (where xxx is the number of revisions made.)
Click on the middle column (reason for edit.)
Scroll to the bottom of that page and select select Delete This Revision.
Confirm that you want to delete it.
Done.

the groups.io server is on blacklists again. So I miss important subscription requests to our groups.

Well, my group has transferred.

Not the least bit unexpectedly, that has started the train of those wanting to be excluded from future mailings.

But the very first message was all of 2 minutes after I got notification of the successful migration, to the effect of “Keep it coming!”

There is a "New Page" button, if that's what you're talking about.

Rich; in order to make the above work you would need to give editing rights to your membership, and that would be "wiki - wide".

I experienced the same thing with a recent test. It's a recipe for a lot of miscommunication.

As a test, with an unsubscribed e-mail address, I attempted to join the subgroup directly. I got this reply:

No warning is given of the fact that the user had joined the main group and not the subgroup.

The subgroup's welcome message is included in the mail (in the middle of it, somewhere), so I suppose one could add in big capital letters something like "YOU ARE NOT YET SUBSCRIBED TO THE LIST THAT YOU WERE TRYING TO SUBSCRIBE TO, DESPITE APPEARANCES".

I don't mind that one can't join a subgroup directly, but then at least the responses from Groups.io should make it clear that you're trying to join a group that you're not yet allowed to join, OR should make it clearer that you need to re-attempt to join the subgroup a second time after you received the first welcome message.

Dave -- That's really not very surprising. For some time, people were forced to create a Yahoo Mail account as a precondition of joining a Yahoo Group. Many such accounts have subsequently fallen into disuse.

Anybody have any ideas why this is?

Yahoo has been purging inactive Yahoo Mail accounts over the past year or so. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/topic/32891421#18222?for a discussion.

The individuals concerned were probably on no emails, so your "old" group never sent emails to them. Then the members either changed email addresses and didn't update their Yahoo memberships either because they had forgotten about them or - worse case scenario - died.

When they were migrated to Groups.io part of that process involved them being sent a message that disregarded the "no emails" flag, and those emails promptly bounced.

As (I think) Bruce said the other day a 554 error is permanent. You can in all probability delete those bouncing addresses without worrying about it, although my personal preference is to check the individuals' activity records just in case there is evidence of recent involvement.

Why are Yahoo addresses in the majority? For the simple reason that Yahoo addresses are so commonplace. If you look at the list of "surviving" members I would expect you to find that Yahoo addresses are in the majority there as well.

You are, I suspect, the most recent person to comment on a commonly experienced phenomenon.

Ah; your group is publicly listed; it is this one, and is the second one in the search return that I linked in my previous post.

However, this has revealed another bit of weirdness in the way the A - Z list of groups is set out. By way of example the "A" list sets out all the groups with an upper case A first, and once it has exhausted those it starts again with a list starting with a lower case a. It is not truly alphabetical; this may be something for beta once the hue and cry has subsided.

1. I created two welcome notices already -- one for the members who join via the Yahoogroups transfer and one to be used later for members who join in the usual way. I marked the YG one as "active" and the other one as non-active. Will that active notice then be sent to members who are added from the Yahoogroup?

2. What other information is included in the message that is sent to members who have been moved? Can I see an example of such a message anywhere, please?

It's slightly difficult to comment in detail without knowing the name of your group; is it by any chance one of the groups on this list? If it isn't, then either (a) your group has indeed vanished from the public list, or (b) you need to sort out your listed keywords!

Was just going through the list of people hard bouncing in one of my groups. Ironically, the majority of them seem to be Yahoo addresses with a 554 code. Anybody have any ideas why this is?

For some reason our group - antique radios - is no longer listed under .io's Publicly Listed Groups. It appeared when the group was first created a couple of weeks ago but disappeared soon afterward. Messages are publicly visible and Admin Privacy Visibility is set to "Group listed in directory, publicly viewable messages."

Might there be another setting somewhere that I'm missing?
