Re: changing all moderated members to not moderated in newly transferred group
Keith,
I have a large group that just transferred group. I would like toWhat Frances said. Or do you mean they had been moderated in the Yahoo Group? Have a look in the Members list (at Groups.io) and see if they are flying any of the badges related to moderation (P, M, NuM, or NP). /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Status-Badges-in-the-Members-List If not then they are set to use the default group setting. Which is probably how you want them. In other words they are under the control of the Moderated checkbox in the Spam Control section of your group's Settings page. Uncheck that box to unmoderate them all at a stroke (to do this you will need to have at least one other box in that section checked). Can this be done, or do I have change all 1,600 or so individually? If you need to change them you can change them in batches using the Actions menu at the bottom of the Members list. Check the box to the left of the Display Name column header to checkmark a page at a time. It is unfortunate that there's no facility to sort or search the list by those badges, that would be really handy for operations like this. I believe the default list length is 20, but you can change it in the Preferences page of your Account info. I don't know if Infinite Scroll works for this purpose, if you're adventurous give it a try and tell us what happened. Security and Privacy
We just transferred the group over from Yahoo! Group.? Thee major concerns came up.? ?Please advise
1. Many members didn't like being "auto-added" to groups.io without the option to "opt-in" after the transfer.? Are there privacy issues? 2. Are the content and messages stored securely (encrypted database or what ever is being used)?? ?Any info would be helpful. 3. Longevity of groups.io.? ?How can we tell if this is a viable business and not disappear tomorrow? As a newbie we welcome feedback on these concerns. |
Re: #bouncedemails
#bouncedemails
Ann,
If I correct the email address of a bouncing member, ...Be aware that correcting the member's email address corrects it in their account - affecting all of their group subscriptions, not just your group. But then the bouncing affects all of their subscriptions too, so that's probably not a bad thing in this case. will the new email address go through and no longer have the memberI'm not sure on this. I don't recall if the member is sent a notice of your action to the old and/or new address. If they are sent one to the new address it is probably delivery tracked and a successful delivery would reset the bounce status. If it appears not to have cleared within a few minutes, you can try sending a Bounce Probe via their member page, but for that I think the member must respond to the probe to reactivate the address. What happened to my ownership ?
GARY GILES
I started [email protected] on 12/20/2016. About 2 days ago for what ever reason, Iwas changed from owner to member and I don't know why. Any ideas?
Thank you Gary Giles |
Re: Yahoogroups main member list includes bouncers
Samuel,
So I wrote a quick little AutoIt script that compares the main list ofI've done much the same thing, pulling both lists into separate sheets in an Excel file, then appending a column to the members sheet that uses the =MATCH() function to find out if this row's address appears in the bouncing sheet. Sorting by that column separates the bouncers from the non-bouncers in the members list. On the other hand, the .csv file exported by Sam Hobbs' chrome add-in includes a multitude of metadata columns, including a memberStatus column that indicates BOUNCED or CONFIRMED for each member. GIO is godsent. Too many are dependent on Groups for varied reasons. Just responded to Mark's old posting. Mark's business model ensures long time survival of GIO. Re: Photo Download Bug
Bruce, Bill,
This also happens with Firefox as well.? It was first noticed for me on a new list where a subscriber was getting duplicate images after a search in Photos.? Neither one would allow saving or copying an image. This subscriber came from a list where all photos were attachments, not stored in the Photo albums.? He didn't have a problem searching the Emailed Photos and I won't tell him. AS a follow-on, when you search the photos albums you not only lose the ability to download the image, but later when instead you go to photo albums, select an album, view the images and select one, the download feature is still non-functional until you close the browser/reboot.? Instead of getting save or copy functions when trying to download, the only option is to open another window, if you try that, download functions are still only open another window... -- ken clark www.shastasprings.com |

From your original post this was an applicant so being sent a link would not seem to apply. ? Sending the link to join has worked great.?But (as above) is that relevant in this case? On the face of it sending the lost applicant an invitation is the best way of getting a measure of normality restored. Re: changing all moderated members to not moderated in newly transferred group
Evidently your members should have retained their status when transferred.
See this reply from Shal in another thread: /g/GroupManagersForum/message/23073 You can change your group default subscription. Not sure if it does it retroactively. In Admin, Settings, second? button. Frances -- FAQ on Moving from YahooGroups GMF Wiki: (unofficial) Help for members (and would-be members) and group managers |

That has the drawback that any reply will not be recorded in the Activity Log. If my conclusion is correct then I would suggest that using the formal Pending Subscription message is by far the better option. If that doesn't trigger a response you can always send another with a couple of clicks. It also crossed my mind that when she claimed that she had replied to the message she was mistaking the Confirmation Message with the Pending Subsciption one, but that is somewhat speculaitve.
