Magnus --?The problem with bitmaps is that only about half of readily available browsers will render them, thus leaving blanks in the slide show display and thumbnails. I'm also unsure that the automated photo resizing used by groups.io is capable of handling other formats, assuming you have that turned on in settings.

Subscribers should really be encouraged to upload their photos in standard, web-friendly formats (e.g.: JPEG, GIF and PNG). Glad you were able to figure this out, and thanks for coming back to close the loop.

Merging an existing groups.io group to a sub-group of another group

Title says it all - is there a way to migrate an existing groups.io group into another as a subgroup?
Thanks in advance.

We're a user-to-user group, so we don't have any more information than you do.? No one from groups.io management monitors this group.

Re: new members during migration #addmembers #moderation #migration

I had a member join BEFORE the import. All of their messages imported correctly.... all the way back to 2003.

I would suggest moving your group while you are waiting. I would have but for the fact that we got imported before the big rush.

The vanity join date WILL be affected, however.

Earl -- There is no function that will allow you to import your group from groups.io's own export, much less one from a different provider. You will have to upload all the content manually, as others who have foregone the Easy Group Transfer process have been doing.

To spend more $$$ we need more data on rate of que processing?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hiya,

Thank you very much forworking so hard to help rescue so many of us Yahoogroups refugees.

A couple weeks back I signed up to save our two most important groups and there were about 800 groups ahead of us in the que. Today, there's a little under 400 people in front of us. So I guess it will take a couple more weeks?

The problem is when you go to check your status in the que it falsely claims it will take a "few days," which is not true!

Is there any way Groups.io could create a primary Yahoogroups transfer status update page that shows how many groups in the que have been processed each day, as well as how many people are currently waiting in the que, as well as notices regarding down time, processing time estimates for people waiting in the que, etc. ?

For many of us who are discussing paying way more money for way more groups to be transferred, the current status of how many are in the que and how long the wait is will likely help us decide how much money we need to give Groups.io to get the job done. Without this vital information that we have no access to, it's very hard to let people in our groups know how much funding we need to save our history.

Please make it easier for us to understand the details of what's going on so we're more willing to pay more money! Thanks!

Thanks, Deane

My question to you as PGO user is: can one export the messages to an MBOX-like format?? I have the trial version here but it seems that one can only export to HTML or to an SQL database.
Samuel
This Chrome extension, written by groups.io's very own Mark Fletcher, will retrieve and save the messages to an mbox file.

Thank you.? I'm not transferring a group, but I want to make sure I set it up correctly.

Do all of the subgroups you create under a main group get covered under the main group's premium payment?

Yes.

Even as relates to transfers, see FAQ item 4(a), but not in regard to the expedite fee.

The data for all the groups you belong to comes in one zip file (almost 1 GB for me), with sub-folders for each group, further divided into sub-folders for messages, files, photos, links etc.

Chris -- Do you have recent evidence that content ownership is truly lost if someone joins the GIO group early...despite using the correct Y!G email address? If that is true, Mark has stated that would be a bug in the transfer process (Ref:?), and it needs to be reported to him.

The only things I know for sure would be affected by joining early is:
1) the [vanity] join date and
2) the subsequent interleaving of message numbers.

Subgroups and Premium

Do all of the subgroups you create under a main group get covered under the main group's premium payment?? ?Or do you have to purchase separately for each sub-group?

Unless it is edited between times then that is correct.

Reading between the lines what you intend is that there should be a message sent every month with new material in it set up and sent by the new owner.

Looking at the sample list of standard per group email addresses above (see Frances's post) which address do you think is the correct one? If it helps, cross - reference with your expiring Yahoo list of equivalents for a clue.

Re: "Average Pace" of transfers

Woohoo!? Last night there were 19 groups ahead of us, this morning, 0.? It took 15 days from start to finish (began on 10/20).

Understood, and I was.

Do you have evidence for that, or is it just a logical assumption. I
assumed that too, but I was given the "no data" answer.

I accepted their TOS early on, when first required. So that's not the
issue in my case.

Re: Transfer from YahooGroups to Groups.Io #transfer

Check the red status box on top of the transfer page. If it says to send the invite, do it again. One you do, keep that page up until they accept it.

I didn¡¯t realize that my sent invite was lost in space at some point, and lost of week waiting for it.
