Re: "Average Pace" of transfers
Thanks, Ray, for sharing your saga; it looks like you're on track to complete the transfer tomorrow or Monday, congratulations!
I agree you must've barely beat a deluge (and I didn't) on or about Oct. 20.? The price increase from $110 to $220 for premium, I think, happened on Oct. 22 and surely reflected the staggering workload.? I can't recall when the $200 "expedite" option became available. I'm a data buff, when things quiet down I hope the GIO staff publish a cool table or graph about the volume of transfers they midwifed in October-December 2019.? Will it cause a problem that I've made?[email protected]?a moderator before receiving the email notification that the invitation has been accepted?I doubt that it will be a problem. Following the YahooGroup transfer steps
#transfer
So after issuing the invitation to [email protected]?to join the YahooGroup that I'm transferring, I see the invitation has been accepted and have promoted that address to moderator status on the old group. I have not however received an email from groups.io notifying me that the invitation has been accepted. When I go to the transfer page, it still says "We've received the invite to your group and will accept it soon..."? Will it cause a problem that I've made [email protected]?a moderator before receiving the email notification that the invitation has been accepted?
Hope that's clear. thanks, Katie |

Re: "Average Pace" of transfers
Hi.? I almost feel guilty at posting this.? I have a medium sized group (~2,100 members, 80,000+ messages over 18 years), which we probably should have ported to groups.io long ago.? However, I started the transfer process just one day ahead of 'kruffing's' group below, and yet managed to secure a position much higher up the queue.? There must have been a huge influx of new transfer requests just on Sunday 10/20 alone.? Anyway, here's our brief pathway so far:
?
Sat 10/19 - Created new group, obtained approval, paid $110 to upgrade to premium for one year, and intitiated transfer process.
Sun 10/20 - Invitation to [email protected] to join YG was accepted.? Did not have authority to promote to Moderator (grrr!). Tue 10/22 - Finally reached YG owner and was able to promote [email protected] to Moderator.? Gave green light for transfer to proceed. Wed 10/23 - Reached Step 3 of 4, meaning our Yahoo content had been exported, and was awaiting import to GIO.? Position #370 in the queue. Tue 10/29 - position #126 Thu 10/31 - position #70 Sat 11/02 - position #38 ?
I haven't been recording our position number every day, but three times I have seen it increase, instead of decrease.? Overall, it has taken about 10 days to progress 332 positions, without paying the extra $200.

Ray.

It's hard to gauge without knowing how many group owners are paying $200 to leapfrog the queue.? I didn't, and my little group's saga is below.
My understanding is that GIO "harvested" all material from our Yahoo site at Step 2, so any new material posted there won't be transferred.? That's okay.? Whenever I post I make sure to send it to both Groupname@...?and [email protected].? (Those are fake names, don't use 'em.)? And if another member posts and omits one or the other address, I send a perfunctory reply and make sure to send it to both.? It's a pain but tolerable.? My annoyance is confined to a perfidious Yahoo, not to the dedicated GIO team! Sat 10/19/2019 Alerted members of my group about Yahoo¡¯s plans and discussed options (Google groups. Signed up for Premium and paid $110 (which doubled two days later).? Sent invitation for [email protected] to join our Yahoo group.? Heard nothing. ?
Fri 10/25/2019 Invitation was finally accepted.? (Whether it was Sunday¡¯s or Thursday¡¯s, I don¡¯t know.)? I swiftly upgraded [email protected] to moderator and gave the go-ahead for transfer.
Sat 10/26/2019
Sun 10/27/2019 Finally progressed to step 3 of 4.? Place in queue #644.

Help! Problem migrating Yahoo group to Groups.io
#transfer
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHelp! My newly created group is LRPPro (/g/LRPPro). I recently upgraded to Premium to be able to migrate LRPPro from Yahoo () to Groups.io. I started the automated migration process, but
this stalled at the point where you have to send an invitation
to [email protected].
The process requires that this invitation be sent, you
wait to receive it, then proceed. However, my Yahoo group no
longer seems able to send invitations. I get the following error

Chat issues with Chrome Web Browser
Dear all,
We have been setting up a new group in order to transfer from Yahoo to Groups.io. We have been testing and learning all the features and we found very interesting the chat feature. We have tried to set up new chats and we succeded. However, when my colleague subscribed and we tried to chat, nothing appeared in chat. We tried several times and open several chats and nothing happened. Today I was trying again and suddenly I thought of testing it with another web browser. IE from Windows 10. It worked perfect. No problem at all. Could you explain what is the reason why does not work in Chrome? Has anybody else encountered this problem? We would very much appreciate any help that you can give us since the majority of our members use Chrome. Thank you very much Frank? |

I suggest that you communicate with your members again...Further to that you could try suggesting to those with btinternet email addresses that they send to any address with a "+" in it from BT's webmail UI, not their email client. I know that might be an ask too far for some but it does get around the problem of emails being misrouted when sent from a client. If you have a Pending Subsciption message set up, responding to that definitely does involve a +owner message that will go astray and frustrate the joining process. Signing up for an account or subscription does require confirmation emails between the applicants and Groups.io and I simply cannot recall if any of those have any + signs in them. As you have invited people you could really turn the Pending Subscription message off, at least pro tem. Chris |

I'm seeing between 16 and 32 groups per day over the past few days.? Thursday and Friday were at the high end.? Today is slower.? I'm around #200 in the queue.
Might depend on group size (# messages, photos, etc.), whether a human is needed to do stuff, how many are paying $200 for priority, etc. |
Re: Does Groups.io keep a record of invitations?

Yes Groups.io allows you to track whom you have invited.?
In Admin, Invites. Two tabs - an invitation to be sent with a customizable section and the second tab is Sent Invitations. Email addresses, date sent, status. Sortable list. You can resend from here as well using the Actions toggle. Cancel / Remove Invite is a bit cryptic (to my mind). You can remove the Invite but it doesn't remove their membership. It is just to tidy up the list. I've only sent one invitation (as a test) which was accepted and it still shows up under Invite -> Sent Invitations (with a status of accepted).

Does Groups.io keep a record of invitations?
#invitation
Just wondering, 'cause I actually haven't sent any yet.? (My group is at Stage 3 of 4 in the transfer; a few dozen members have signed up at GIO; the rest are awaiting automatic transfer; that's okay, I can be patient.)
When you send an invitation to join a Yahoo group it just sorta disappears into the ether.? You'll see the feeble confirmation that "You can sent 99 more invitations today" (or whatever), but you have no record of to whom invitations were sent and when. Does GIO keep better track? That's a feature I'd really value. |
current turnaround for invitation approval?
#invitation
I sent 600+ invitations this morning and as it has been a little longer than "a few hours" (as I've seen quoted in other messages here), I was wondering if anyone else who recently required invite approval could tell me how long it took.
That's it.? Thank you! JJ Krawczyk |
