Re: moving emails from yahoo to io
Florian....
I would like to thank you for your post.? Many will benefit.? When I started using a unix port, only freeBSD was available.? Then I moved to linux.? I vaguely recall the commands you have in your answer.? When a GUI interface came out, i moved.? I regret not keeping up my skills at the command line.? I will hit the books.? This is a elegant solution. Thank you for taking the time to post. jack |

? Interested in your topic as I am also just setting up an Announcements Only mailing list. The intro letter that people get states that they can post in the "canned" info that is sent to them, with my additional added text below stating it is announcement only, and I've made it so only moderators can post (only me) but they still think they can because of the canned text at the top of the welcome message. Any way to change that? Re: Accepting new members
Susan,
"Claim" is an automatic status that is set when a moderator interacts with a message that needs moderation. You can moderate by email as well - just click reply and send an essentially blank email. It wouldn't necessarily be part of accepting new members. If you don't have a restricted group, new members will be accepted automatically. If you want to be able to assess the potential member, use a Pending Subscription notice. The potential member will automatically be sent an email with your customized message. Replies go to owner emails. Frances -- FAQ on Moving from YahooGroups GMF Wiki: (unofficial) Help for members (and would-be members) and group managers |

Glitchy Yahoo
Yahoo is glitchier than ever.? Currently, on two of my groups that I am transferring when I try to add groups.io as a moderator, that "button" is not functioning (and, yes, I am the owner).? I had the same problem with another group for several days until the button finally went live again.? Yet my fourth group, the button has always been live.
Hopefully, this will resolve eventually.? Anybody else facing this problem? Dennis Steckley |
Re: Group Occupying 2.1GB of its 1GB
Ken,
? I just finished transferring 3634?photos (2.3 GB) of Narrow gauge railways from a YG list? I chose an image size maximum of 1024 x 1024 pixels,? The new storage used is 448 MB, less than half of what is available for a free list. I downloaded the images from the YG photo directory to my PC hard drive.? I uploaded them an album at a time into groups.io.? I uploaded about 15 albums a hour.? groups.io automatically resized them to my maximum image size of 1024 x 1024.? Image quality of the resized images looks identical on my LG and HP 32" monitors when compared to the original images. ? ?Groups.io has limited delete functions; you can either delete a single image or a single photo album.? I had an instance where I had manually double loaded an album.? It was easier to delete the album and upload again the photos for that album than to individually delete images.? Groups.io does not automatically delete images in the Photo directory, only photos that may have been attached to messages.? Yes you have to manually delete photo album by photo album.? It is not hard and you should be able to delete 50 albums of 60 images each in less than ten minutes. I would reconsider your maximum image size settings, if you had chosen 'unrestricted' or a size larger than 1024 x 1024 pixels; you likely have some space wasters. -- ken clark www.shastasprings.com |

Obviously, you *didn't* do a transfer, or you would be on the Premium plan right now, and would have a 10 GB allocation, not 1 GB. Duh. I don't know what triggers the actual deletion of attachments to remain under quota, using that setting you mentioned. Anyway, my advice is unchanged...delete stuff yourself as best you can, using the instructions in the wiki page that I linked to you.? Regards, Bruce |

we can be sure, that the groups.io team is drowned in requests at the moment. This is not only a technical challenge, but also a staffing challenge. To my recognition groups.io are very careful in "who is approved in doing which new group". They appearently check manually the request of new groups to prevent picking unwanted contents (*). I think they do an enourmous job on this and I am very pleased that they do so, because this way I can be sure that my groups will not appear in fishy environment. So I am willing to wait for them. Florian (*)I found a request from their domain in the access.log of a non-public-linked? webpage. The only possibility to know the URL was a link within my private yahoo group Am 31.10.2019 um 15:20 schrieb Duane: On Thu, Oct 31, 2019 at 09:04 AM, Charles Roberts wrote: --

So if you're over quota, its all the other stuff you have that's causing it, and this setting would not have helped you. At one time, Mark would stop a transfer for a group that was going to be over its allocation and send the group Owner an email asking what you wanted him to do. This gave you an opportunity to use the photo auto-rescaling options and other stuff within the group settings to help mitigate the problem. With the existing time crunch to get things moved it's not surprising that things are a little different now.? Or do I need to do it manually?Yes. Following on from that, is there any bulk delete photos (or attachments) tool on the horizon? It's been "on the horizon" for at least two years, so I wouldn't count on it. Group photo albums in subfolders?
Hi,
In the files section it is possible to create folders inside folders, which is very useful to keep things organised. I could not find something similar in the Photos section. I would like to group related photo albums together in a single top folder/album. For now, I have changed the album names to have a similar prefix, but is there a better way? Thanks, Ben |
Re: How long does signup take?
Hi Shal,
FYI, I upgraded my existing GIO group yesterday about 11am and paid the $220 and started the process. I sent the invitation, and have heard nothing since...22hrs. ?Under "View existing Transfer status" I see a banner ? that said something like " invitation received, will accept SOON", ?I have not received any email of acceptance so ?I sent another invitation about 8am this morning.....2 hrs ago, still nothing in email. I also notice that the refresh speed of my various Yahoo Groups have started being slower....I suppose this is all part of the game. Chuck...waiting with baited breath |
Re: Emails response from groups.io not working
To be clear - this is about?+owner, +help emails only.
+Owner emails arrive in +owner emails on the group site, but not in the owner's own email account. Earl, The first screenshot - your subscription page - looks right.
I just sent you a message to your +owner group address. I also private messaged you a reply through GMF's group posts (like this!) So you should get two messages. One that says testing getting emails to owner. Plus one sent to you privately from here (GMF) - subject: Private: [GMF] Re: Emails response from groups.io not working Frances ?
