Re: Need help with adding groups.io as a moderator
Hi
I know you got advice on the other thread, but see?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups#Step-3-E28094-Promote-the-Transfer-Agent-to-moderator You really need to follow the steps one at a time. From everything I have read, this is crucial. Step by step and be patient! Re: Transfer steps
John B
At Yahoo as a moderator or owner: Management > Manage members Click on Joined to sort the list by date joined. Probably [email protected] will be at the top of the list. Click on the [email protected] entry. A window pops up.? Click on Role and set "Moderator" Click "Save" at the bottom

Re: Migration - New Folders & Files
Scott,
Can I manually add members to the new group or will that mess up theWhat Duane said. The only issue with members is that the transfer agent will skip any email address that is already in the Groups.io group. Which is not normally a big deal, it means that their Email Delivery, Posting Privileges and Join date aren't copied from the Yahoo Group. I've heard of cases where having an old Join date is considered a prestige item in the group, so if that matters to anyone you might hold off on adding them before the transfer. The rest can be fixed manually if needed. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: Transfer steps
Susan,
Day 3. My concern is after Oct 28, will IO groups still have access toNothing is a guarantee with Yahoo, but what they say is that the archives will stay available until December 14th. Your group is awaiting export from Yahoo. [Step 1 of 4]Nope. It says right there that you're in the queue waiting to start copying from Yahoo. ... but I have over 400,000 messages and 10,000+ members. So at the step where the content copied from Yahoo is being installed in your group, you'll have an extra-special long wait. But that's ok even if it went past December 14th, so long as the export from Yahoo finished. about 400 people have transferred themselves over. Those 400 will have their subscription initially set to what's in your group's Default Sub Settings tab of the Settings page. Hope you've set that they way you want. The ones that wait to be transferred will have their subscription settings copied from your Yahoo Group, including Email Delivery and Posting Privileges (but not Role). Re: New group not functioning
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHere is the message I received, at 19:47 today, local time now is
22:15.
Here is the home page. It says the last post is Oct 17, I presume 2019, but I can't see it in the messages section. Messages only go to 2002. Perhaps it is still indexing or something??

Re: Transferring more than one group in Yahoo to a single group.io
From the wiki -?
3. How much does it cost for a premium group?
?
The cost is $220 USD per year for the Premium Yearly plan (effective 2019-10-22). This allows you to use the groups.io transfer agent. You can change the group back to the Basic plan after the year if you wish.
?
If you wish to have your transfer prioritized, the group transfer page allows you to pay an additional one-time fee of $200.
?
3a. Can I transfer a Yahoo Group into a Subgroup?
?
Yes. Upgrading your Primary Group to the Premium Yearly plan covers your subgroups as well. See Why use a Subgroup for more information about subgroups.?
?
3b. Can I transfer more than one Yahoo Group into my Groups.io group?
?
Yes. The Premium Yearly plan allows multiple Yahoo Groups to be transferred to your Primary group and/or its subgroups. Be sure to transfer one at a time to avoid problems.
?
If you transfer more than one Yahoo Group into the same Primary or Subgroup the additional content appends to what's already been transferred. Any members already present in the Groups.io group will not be transferred again by later transfers.
?
However, you can't create a subgroup until the primary group gets approved.

Re: Features & Setup Questions
Since Frances gave you some pointers on subgroups, I'll limit myself to the Transfer questions.
TransferYou have to create the subgroups before starting a transfer for them.? They can have any name you think appropriate.? On the transfer page, you'll enter the Yahoo group to transfer from and the GIO group to use as the destination. Are subgroup memberships automatically transferred or do they have to be confirmed?Members of the groups that will be going into subgroups are added to the main group as well as the subgroup. After the bulk transfer, can late poster and straggler info be transferred?Anything that happens on the YG after the transfer will need to be moved manually by you. About how long will the actual transfer take? From request to initiation? That's the $64,000 question.? Recent reports have run 2 days to 2 weeks.? It all depends on how many requests are in line.? Each of your transfers to a subgroup would e an additional item on the list. Does anyone know if we can put a lock on the Yahoo message boards after the transfer? Many people close their YG to new posts before giving the Go Ahead to transfer.? That prevents missing posts.? There may be something similar you can do for files, photos, databases, etc, but I'm not familiar with them. Does anyone happen to know if Yahoo will be deleting their message archives on Oct 28 or the Dec date?Based on the announcement, and my interpretation, the deletion of everything will be on Dec 14. After the bulk transfer, can the subgroup names be changed? You can change a group or subgroup name any time you want, but there are side effects.? You should be able to find information on that by searching this groups message archives.? "group name change" (without quotes) will find much of it. If you still have questions about the transfer or subgroups after going over these replies, please ask. It doesn't seem like a good idea to copy it there as it'll be out of sync as soon as someone edits one of them. Is there a way to link to that particular portion of the Quick Start Guide?
