I don't think they are, you need to set those after the transfer.

Plans for Relational Databases? #database

Any plans to add relational database functionality, or is it already present and I'm missing it?

Use case example. We host a yearly gaming event where people like to mark what games they'd like to play so they can self-organize.? Ideally, this includes the following tables:

1) Games
2) Players
3) Want to Play (a join table, noting each instance of? ?Player + Game they want to play)

We can accomplish this with a "flat" table of games and a column of "Players" where people can add their names/initials, but that's prone to errors (people accidentally erasing previous players, etc.)

Also open to hearing of other options to address this.? Thank you!

Re: reading exported Groups.io group data

Thanks, Bill.

I will try this in the next couple of days.

Much appreciated.

I (for my group) and other groups I'm joined with have just solicited paypal payments.

Thanks Chris.

I have confirmed with the member involved that he is using Microsoft Office Outlook as his email client.

I have just confirmed that the above remains the case. I have contacted the person who reported the problem to BT but he has heard nothing more either directly or via a backdoor route. To be best of my understanding the problem is one that might spark a bit of interest from Ofcom (for non - UK readers Ofcom is the "media" regulator) if only because BT has failed to report back to the originator even though he has a log number for his report.

I carried out a quick test this morning and can confirm that the misrouting is still happening.

Re: Can not get transfer request to show up in the "In Process" list

ok, Thanks Duane,
I didn't skip any step, did you really think a person that finds issues with one of this groups help page (miss placed period) is the sort of person to skip a step?
Can you tell me the best location to report problems with your account, is it the bug reporting link support@..., or should I use the beta group?
I think I know why everything went south and is in limbo land but I think I need something in my account reset.

another question regarding transfer

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I am not tec stupid, but ..

I have made IOtransfer a moderator.

The next step in the instructions says:

After you have made the [email protected] member a moderator, return here, select your Existing Transfer transfer, and tell us that you are ready for the transfer to happen. Your group must be signed up for the Premium Yearly plan. ?(which I did pay for)

When I select the yahoo group, it opens:?/edittransfer

in the green box at the top, it says: The transfer process has been updated.

Is that it?

Trying hard to not bother all the wonderful answer people, but ¡.

Yahoo has no way of knowing that a transfer is going on. Are you sure this didn't come from groups.io?

But I have NOT yet received an email from Groups.io, nor does the transfer status indicate that it has been accepted. (i.e. it still reads "We've received the invite to your group and will accept it soon. There is no need to send another invite.")
You should continue to wait until this status changes. Due to the way transfers are being managed now, it seems there may be some delay after groups.io accepts the invitation and your transfer advances to the next step of the process.

Is it OK to go ahead and promote the user to Moderator on the Yahoo groups?
Yes...but don't click the "Give Go Ahead to Transfer" button until the status changes (not sure that you can, anyway).

Are any particular mod permissions needed?
No.?

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Although the step-by-step implies it's meant to be fairly instantaneous between making the agent a mod and getting the option to progress, it seems to take half a day before the system generates the email prompting you to decide to authorise the transfer.

[Mod Note: This reflects recent changes to the way in which transfers are queued. It remains advisable to refrain from attempting to give the transfer the "go ahead" until you receive the email.]

Go to Admin the billing, look for the options.?

I did the same thing. Just a note, I signed up under the old monthly pricing last week, and when I went to change to Yearly the only option was the new pricing. I went ahead and did that, and then got a note later saying I would only be charged the old plan price of $110, on the next billing cycle.?

Your results may vary

God luck

Re: Subscribing by email failing for one user

Mark,

Yes, it says whether they accepted the invite by web or email, but not
whether an email client or webmail was used, I think?
In principle it could find out by tracing the Received fields in the message header, but I can't imagine implementing that check just to identify this edge case.

Re: Group Guidelines on a schedule #membernotices

Su,

I think it should be somewhere else - at least mentioned in the
Member Notices page, but not sure what the protocol is for that.
Post it as a suggestion in beta. But perhaps wait a few weeks first:

Re: Subscribing by email failing for one user

Hi Chris

Yes, it says whether they accepted the invite by web or email, but not whether an email client or webmail was used, I think?

I did an experiment and emailed to the [email protected] address from my email client (Thunderbird through 1and1 POP3) and it did accept his invitation for him.? Not that secure really, but at least he is now subscribed!

Hi

Yes, the activity log says whether an invite accepted by web or email, but I don't think I can tell whether it was sent by an email client (POP or IMAP) or via webmail?

Further extract below for the user I mentioned in initial post in this thread.? The email they sent was to:[email protected],?but the final recipient in the returned email was :Final-Recipient: RFC822; <[email protected]>

Re: Odd situation - Yahoo says transfer@ has accepted, status doesn't #transfer

Yes this happened to me too.? The actual events and emails from Groups.io seemed to be slightly out of synch.? But the emails did catch up after 12 hours or so.

My understanding (and from the email you did not get yet) is that you can uncheck all the boxes on the moderator permissions.? It just needs to be moderator with no detailed permissions.

And is it OK to start both transfers (to different subgroups) at the same time? I didn't see that thing about one group at a time until just a few minutes ago. :-(
