Button to Go Ahead With Transfer?
#transfer
Hi!
Should I be seeing a GO button on the edit page for the transfer process? This page??/edittransfer I have 2 groups in the transfer queue. Invitations have been excepted to both groups. The Groups.io member has been promoted to moderator in both groups. The next step is to go to the process page and give the go ahead. I click on my existing transfer groups and it takes me to the edit page. But it does not show a button or link to GO ahead with the transfer. The status box at the top of the page still says they received the invite and will accept it soon. So my edit page has not been updated. It is not showingbthe progress that has been made. Will Groups.io put a green GO ahead with the transfer button on my edit page? If, so, how long should I wait for that to appear.? Someone please help me with this. I do not see a way to give the GO AHEAD. Janis |

Hi Jan
Have you looked at the GMF wiki? There is a quick start guide. /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Quick-Start-for-Group-Formation Frances -- FAQ on Moving from YahooGroups /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki /static/help More help: use the search button at the top of the Messages list. |

Setting up a free account (not a transfer)
Jan Smith
Hi Shal.? I am trying to get help for creating a Basic (free) group and invite members.? I do NOT want to transfer my Yahoo Group as I have deleted all the photos, I have copies of all the Files, and since my Yahoo Group isn't that active with the lessons I teach, etc., a lot of posted messages are no relevant.??
I've read a lot of posts here, and instructions, etc., and not sure I can do this without help.? ? So, can I get instructions on creating my group manually for the Basic group, including how to give my group the name they are used to, etc., please? I know you are busy, very busy, but time is running out on Yahoo. Thank you for your time. Jan Smith |

Re: Color?
And in Yahoo our message subjects titles are a nice active-looking blue color.?
(your message subject titles are seemingly inactive dull gray)?
-- On the website using Safari, the titles are blue (until you read them, then they turn grey - and that's helpful!) and I have an icon for myself on the posts. You can set that yourself. Re: Color?
Andrea, you can set a banner photo on your site.
In Settings, Cover Photo tab. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Quick-Start-for-Group-Formation There has been some discussion lately about setting a photo to the right size. Search GMF. Additionally you can change the colour for some of your text in the Description. Be sure to use the "hamburger" menu to open the second line of tools. Color?
My group is moving over from Yahoo.?
Your group is technically high quality, but your group pages are colorless and boring to look at.? In Yahoo we see our group photo when we read our messages. No so in your website. ?No group photo.? And in Yahoo our message subjects titles are a nice active-looking blue color.? (your message subject titles are seemingly inactive dull gray)? Is there any way to make our group webpage have some visual appeal? Thanks, |

Re: Deleting a YGroup VS waiting for Yahoo's Axe to fal . . .!
It's possible that your YGroup has been "advertised" on many other websites, so just killing it entirely *might* be bad.? I suggest editing the home page/welcome page/advertising page on Yahoo to state at the group has moved and include a link in plain text to the new group.? ?In case yahoo disables html, new people could maybe copy/paste the link, so make it visible like that. To check how it displays, you can open a different browser or a private/incognito session and go to the group page without logging in. |

Re: Migrating the Yahoo stragglers
From experience I will tell you it's better to ask you members to try to hold their posts until transfer is complete if they can. If there IS urgent traffic, *and they have received the notice that they are members* of your group on groups.io (a sign the memberships have transferred) have them post to groups.io as Duane suggested. When the posts display on the web page, just make sure they display in chronological order, not message number order. (Because if they post while the messages are transferring, their posts will have message numbers that fall into the middle of the transferred messages.)
