Analytics on my groups.io page
Hello,?
Long term YG owner with 2000+ members transferring to this platform with the paid system. Everything going well so far and just waiting in line. I do have one question related to analytics. On YG's I was able to generate code from Statcounter which I added to my Yahoo Groups "Group Description" edit page. I would then get weekly reports on any traffic/location etc from members going to my yahoo groups? site. It was very helpful feedback. I tried to do the same for my groups IO page and the code shows up in plan text. Is there a way to add analytics code? Not married to Statcounter and willing to use others like google analytics or whatever. Thank you for any feedback Mark ? |
'transfer' is an invalid email?
Walt
Okay, so I created the new group and upgraded it to premium. I want to
have groups.io transfer 3600 members (etc.) from Y'hoo for me so I'm required to send an invite to [email protected] I do that on the set up a transfer page and it returns 'invalid email address' or something like that. Prob'ly I'm doing something dumb, but no clue what. I did copy/paste the email ... not much chance for error there. ??? Walt Hutchens owner, [email protected] |

Re: Yahoo Transfers: can we exclude all members from being rolled over and let that happen manually?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýKen,The email address that GIO uses to create the new GIO account is the one they used for their Yahoo group account.? Many of us (me included) do not use a yahoo account for that.? My yahoo account is tied to my own email address (not my yahoo email address).? My yahoo account simply gets my facebook notices so I never even look at it.? If you used a hotmail account to create your yahoo profile then that is the address that gets used and as such is the address that GIO uses to create the account at groups.io...if you do not already have an account (many of us do since we are members of many groups). Yes you as the requester and owner can choose to exclude members but why would you want to?? If you do that then that is going to create a BIG problem because Mark has to first create members at GIO before bringing over emails because those emails get accredited to the original owner and if the original owner account does not get created then there is a problem.? Membership creation is the first step in the process and for good reason.? One fly in that ointment is that email accounts get created for those members of the yahoo group that are not listed in bounce status.? Also files and photos copied over are also listed as being owned by the original owner/poster and if they are not members (yet) then those files become listed as owned by you (the listed group owner). Maybe that is not what you were asking but I hope that clarifies things. Jim Pruitt On 10/20/2019 1:20 PM, ken pimentel

Adding/removing groups to your 'Feed' page
Is there a way to do this? I see other groups, but not mine on the 'feed' page. I assume the 'icon' image you add will show as an avatar for your group on that page? Or am I wrong? I have no way to check since I don't know how to get my group to show. Thanks.

Re: In Yahoo Groups, When does the archives stop? A few are saying Oct 28
It's difficult to tell from the announcement.? It says you can't upload anything after Oct 28 and that the archives will go on Dec 14.? Since saving messages in the archive is a type of upload, it could go either way.? As you say, why wait until the last minute and miss a deadline.

Re: Incomplete Transfer
If you go to Photos>Albums... the total space used will show above the first row of pics.
I don't know when you did this, but I noticed my lists and many others had no photos showing up until about the 17th recently, and then they magically came back. So if you did it before then, you might have picked a bad time. Clicking on them before that just put up a server error message, and I'm pretty sure it was like that for days, maybe weeks. The header photos weren't showing either. |

Hi Chris! Thanks for the suggestions; I can see, manually DL and access the files and Photos in the old Yahoo Group.? groups.io shows 67KB occupied by files and 0 KB by photos.? I cannot find the Yahoo content size but it is several GB, there are over 100 photos and as many files.. |
Yahoo Transfers: can we exclude all members from being rolled over and let that happen manually?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýQuestion: Can we use the automatic transfer to bring over everything except members? We have already started rolling over members manually and most members don't want a Yahoo email associated with their??account. It might?also be very confusing?since 50% of our members have already migrated to our new group. thanks, ken |

Note that an email alias is a POST-ONLY address. You will not receive mail at that email alias, nor can you set up an alias using an email address that is already in use as an established groups.io account.

Login to your account.
Select "Account" from the top right after logging in.?
Scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says "Advanced Settings For Email Aliases" and click on the right arrow at the far right of that line.

Email Alias
I have two email addresses from which I send email and may want to send email to groups.io Groups. I see on my personal groups.io Account page "Advanced Settings for Email Aliases" a provision to enter an email alias but the explanation does not directly apply to my need. Nevertheless, I believe this is the method to enter a personal email address different from my groups.io login email address that I want groups.io to identify as me.
Do I have that correct? Having entered an email alias on the personal groups.io Account setting, will this alias address be accepted for all the groups.io Groups I belong to? That is, an email alias is set on your personal groups.io account and not on individual groups.io Groups. I have successfully completed one Yahoo Group transfer and have just given the approval for the second Yahoo Group transfer to proceed. The time required has been only a few days in each case. Transfer works! -- Best wishes, Larry McDavid Anaheim, California (SE of Los Angeles, near Disneyland) |

I appreciate any and all suggestions! The transfer agent may have had a problem accessing the material from Yahoo. I can only think of two possibilities here: a typo when you entered the address into the Yahoo Group's Invite page, or Yahoo is backlogged in sending out Invitations. Notwithstanding the possible uptick in Invitations I'm skeptical of a backlog, as even Yahoo's automation should be able to handle that.

Have a look at the screenshots in GMF's step-by-step and see if anything seems out of place compared to what you are seeing. Then let us know.

Re: Trying to add [email protected] membership for a migration yahoo to groups.io...
I feel your pain Melissa. I too am waiting. We just have to be patient for the transfer to accept our invitations, then wait for the transfer to start going. I believe we have done all that we can do for now. Susan
