Bruce,

I have gone to the IO transfer page.
I show a completed transfer.
I click on the "completed transfer"
It has tick showing against it but still no delete button.

Mick -- As was clearly stated, you have to select the completed transfer from the "Existing Transfers" menu. There is no way for to know which transfer to delete if you don't select one.

Re: Shutting down activity on Yahoo! #post-transfer

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Natalie or anyone else if you want to still keep the yahoo group and not get mail there you can do that. I did.
?
There are settings where the only mail activity is from the owner.? It is under management and settings. Then there is no mail unless you write something and no one will see it but you.

Re: How To Make i.o. Cover Photo Banner Sized

Success. I found a photo with an already relatively narrow subject and then cropped it to be as short vertically and wide horizontally as possible. When I made it my cover photo it worked out perfectly as a banner:? /g/EvanstonPFWatch. Of course, that's not to say that a photo I may want to use in the future will be likewise workable.

Many thanks.

Walter -- Please note that before attempting a second transfer from the same group, you will first have to delete the completed one.

To do so, go to the Y!G transfer page, pull down the Existing Transfers menu to select the completed transfer, then click the red "Delete Completed Transfer" button.

Hope this helps,

No. You do have to pay for Premium Yearly ($110), but you can downgrade afterward.

It's my understanding that you can merge groups in this manner if you want to, paying only one Premium Yearly fee of $110.? You can also transfer a related group (perhaps a board of directors or a committee) into a subgroup of the main (members) group.

I wouldn't go too crazy with this, though. You could inadvertently create a mess that doesn't work for anybody.

If this isn't something the list here can definitively answer, is there a contact I could reach out to for a definitive answer?

Join request pre approval

On yahoo we usually have folks give us their contact information before their membership is approved..?
Invite they directly join....and that is fine for folks we know who they are...
We need to know who they are because we actually meet and get together...we are a homeschooling community...
How can we vet members under a join request...message or anouncment to new join...

Re: Will download from yahoo site interfere with transfer of site to groups.io? #transfer

Hi peeps,

Yikes, I would not be trusting/wanting yahoo to download your group stuff, READ what they say:

"Your data will be formatted in JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) and might be hard to look through at a glance. You can open the file in a plain text editor to view the raw data or you can perform a web search for "JSON parser" to find a third-party app or website that will refine the code into a more friendly format. Remember to do your research before using third-party products to make sure others have found them safe to use."

And really, I don't think we can assume yahoo is going to be very functional -- On several yahoo groups today, where I was suggesting "have groups.io transfer your group, it's worth $110!", yahoo would not let me post a reply -- !!? got "could not post message" error message.

Unlike many folks who generously share their time and expertise here, I'm not very computer savvy, but the concept of seeing IF yahoo could and would download my group's info, and then I'd have to figure out how to read/deal with JSON format......sounds like it'd well worth paying $110 to have groups.io transfer the group!

Re: How To Make i.o. Cover Photo Banner Sized

Deborah,

?

Take a look at what I do with the banner on FOGgers /g/foggers . I use a free program called IrfanView to manipulate the pictures and create our banner. You¡¯ll have to take some a little time to learn how the program works, but I think helps me a lot.

The cover photo is rescaled to 300 pixels in the vertical dimension, or 900 pixels in the horizontal dimension. So if you want the image to span the width of the page you must provide an image with at least a 3:1 aspect ratio.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Oh. I don't know how to do that without distorting the image by stretching it out horizontally. :-(?

Leslie,

If you are unwilling to pay the $110 for a transfer -- and you have a lot of spare time on your hands -- there are other options to download and save content from Yahoo Groups. Shal has previously mentioned three options in the following post:??/g/GroupManagersForum/message/19204?. I have used PG Offline successfully in the past, and Robert has given detailed instructions on how to use the Chrome browser add-on in?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/19222?.

The problem is what to do with the message archive once downloaded; as there is really no good way to re-upload it to , to re-link individual messages to their owners, or to provide online message search capability. Perhaps the best option is simply to print the collection of old messages to a PDF file; at which point you can upload that to the files area of your group. That will give you something, even if it isn't conveniently indexed and searchable.?
