Su,
Can two Yahoo groups archives be transferred into one Groups.io group?Yes, just transfer one then the other. The messages will get distinct ranges of message numbers, with the second transfer beginning at a higher number than the last message of the first. That doesn't matter for most purposes as the sort for display of messages and topics is based on the date - which copies with each message from the Yahoo Group. However when viewing a message there are < (Previous) and > (Next) buttons which go in numeric order. There is no way to renumber the messages. Avraham,
When more than 12 messages and replies are sent to theThere is no control for that. Is there a way to make the *Daily Summary* more useful by hypertextingIt links to each topic. To get links to each individual message choose the Full Featured Digest instead of the Summary. But then you have the max of 12 messages per digest. Is there a way to add a "create a new post" link at the top of theOnly in the way you found, by adding it into the group customized section of the footer. Did you want it to open the user's email interface to create the new topic (a mailto: link, like the Reply To Sender and Reply To Group links)? Or did you want it to take them to the group's New Topic page (an https: link, like the View/Reply Online link)? Is there a way to re-label the ¡°Unsubscribe¡± link at the bottom toThere is no control for that. For things that you think would be general improvements to Groups.io you can post to the beta group - that's the official "suggestion box". Re: Yahoo group transfer -- how can I request new members?
Judi,
The easiest way if you don't want to transfer your group (you would need to pay for 1 year for a transfer) the easiest way might be to post a message on YahooGroup. It really depends on how many people there are in your groups. If it is a smallish group, you can invite members. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Inviting-new-members I hope you finished setting up your group - see?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Quick-Start-for-Group-Formation If you wanted to transfer, see?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups Much more help in the wiki -?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/home Frances -- /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki /static/help More help: use the search button at the top of the Messages list. |

Note from Yahoo:
Yahoo has announced that they are not going to allow users to upload content the the groups.? Beginning October 21, 2019.? We have until December 14, 2019 to save ALL our posts, photos, etc. before Yahoo removes them.? Read below. ? Understand what's changing in Yahoo GroupsYahoo has made the decision to no longer allow users to upload content to the Yahoo Groups site. Beginning October 21, you won't be able to upload any more content to the site, and as of December 14 all previously posted content on the site will be permanently removed. You'll have until that date to save anything you've uploaded.
The Yahoo Groups site will continue to exist, however, all public groups will be made private or restricted. Any new group members will need to request an invite or be invited by an admin. Admins will still be able to manage various group settings, though some functionality will be limited. On October 21st, you will no longer be able to upload any content to the site. To share info with members of your groups, you'll continue to be able to do so via email. right from the Yahoo Groups site, or you can?. You'll still be able to communicate with your groups via email and search for private groups on the site. In addition, admins will continue to have limited access to group settings and administration tools. That¡¯s about it, group.? I suggest if you want to save any files or photos,? you do that now.? ??? Download a photo:? You SHOULD be able to download a photo by hovering your mouse over the photo and using the download icon (right bottom corner) to download.? THAT DOES NOT WORK FOR ME.? If you figure out how to download a photo, please inform the group. ? ??? Download a file:? Go to the Files section and left click on the file and then navigate to where you want to save the file. |

Thank you so much.
Got answers for the following so far: (1) In the "settings" section, there is an option to allow "reply to sender." We had to enable it. (2) The "summary" might solve the problem since users will only receive one message per day. Question: Is there a way to force send a digest/summary? Also, is there a place that we can set what time the summary is distributed each day? (3) We added a footer with information about how to create a new post. Hi,
We recently completed our beta testing of Groups.IO. We tested without about 150 people over the course of the summer, and then migrated a list of ~7,500 people over earlier this month. In general, it's an awesome platform! However, once we made the change to the broader audience, we have received a lot of feedback that we did not encounter/consider in the beta-testing phase. I am hoping this community can help with some challenges (listed below), and I thank you all very much in advance! Avraham Groll Executive Director JewishGen.org

Yes, that was the notice. Thanks for posting it.
I'll have to think about that. It's a little tricky because we have an active members list which is smaller but also a community of active + alumni members which is of course larger. And not everyone from the first is in the second. Yet they are all connected to the same original group. Making it yet more complicated is that we moved to Google groups a few years ago. I will post separately about that. Thanks! Su |
Su, My question is, can I get both of those groups' archives transferred over for the one fee? Maybe. If one of the Yahoo groups is logically a subset of the other (all its members are also members of the "primary" group) then you can set up a single Groups.io group, create a subgroup within it, and transfer the primary Yahoo group into the primary Groups.io group, and transfer the smaller membership Yahoo group into the subgroup. I think that would only require upgrading the primary Groups.io group to Premium. Or do I need to pay the annual fee for each? You pre-pay one year of Premium, but at the end of that year you can drop back to a Basic group. So you can treat it as a one-time fee rather than an ongoing expense, if that works for your groups. Al, Can you post a copy of the "notice" here? ? Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
Hi,
I just received a notice from Yahoo that they are going to delete all group uploads in mid-December. That appears to cover the email archives as well (I assume that's what "message history" means). I am a leader in a local non-profit that has archives going back to 2012 on two Yahoo groups. We had been using those for reference and assuming they would stick around. I guess not. So I re-read the Easy Group Transfer information. It now states that we have to upgrade to Premium for a year. That is fine. My question is, can I get both of those groups' archives transferred over for the one fee? They both belong to the same organization -- but one is for announcements and the other for discussion. Or do I need to pay the annual fee for each? Thank you, Su |
Re: Finding storage
Hi Irene,
What counts towards a Group¡¯s Storage Limit?
The following are counted towards the storage limits for your group:
?
Messages themselves are not counted towards the storage limits, only any attachments.
?
See this wiki page for the two ways of figuring out what you are using:
?
The second method that is described is available to all subscribers on a group.?

Finding storage
Irene R
Greetings,
I am new to being an Owner of a group, so please bear with me. I understand the Basic group storage limit is 1GB, of which the amount is not counted in the body of the text. Where can I find where the amount of storage used, or amount left, is??? Also, if photos are included as part of the body, is that counted towards the storage amount, or only counted as attachments? Thank you in advance for any responses.? Please keep them in layman's terms. -- Irene R Blessings to You! |
Timeout issue
In our list are several members of the same organization and all Groups.io emails bounced due to timeout. There IT now found out why that is: There server needs 2min to process emails but the groups.io server times out after 1min. Is there any possibility to set the timeout of groups.io to 2min?

reset 2nd authentication option
I'm an owner of a group, and I personally have TWO accounts in that group (as owner and moderator), both set up with the second authentication option.? No backup codes.? I have no problem accessing the group in one account using the second authentication option, however, for some reason I cannot access my second authentication on the other account, so I wish to turn it off and re-establish it.? Who at groups.io do I reach out, to do that?? Thanks.
