Thanks Shal (also Duane, Donald and others) this
seems to have only occured this year. I feel I used this successfully when I
first transfered several groups from Yahoo.
?
As a retired BT engineer I am aware of certain
''problems'' at BTinternet and have made noises via internal contacts
previously. I will punt this one up to my contacts, don't hold your breath but
it may add to the ''weight'' of complaints.
?
Thanks for a? good trouble free
service.

Re: HASHTAG Time Limit QUESTION . . . .
Yes Bruce, I edited the subject line of a post that went up this past MON. So the 1 hour hashtag took effect one hour after MON's original post time.
Well practice makes perfect. So the answer still seems to be that these hashtags will have to be added and removed manually if the original post is to be preserved. Thanks for the help. Paul M. == |
Re: Editing the <Invitation To Be Sent> field
Bob,
In the Invitation To Be Sent Field, _nothing_ can be edited.Correct. Only automatic substitutions are made -- [Name] and [Invitee Email Address]. It seems so silly that I feel I must be mistaken.Note that the Invitation To Be Sent box changes content to reflect any inclusion you make via the Customize Message field. So, apart from the automatic substitutions, you can see exactly what will be sent. If I copied what appeared in the To Be Sent Field into the CustomizeThat /would/ be silly. Re: Editing the <Invitation To Be Sent> field
Donald,
What does it insert into the Hello, [NAME} field? If, in the entry box for Emails on the Invite page, you use the form: Display Name <email@...> then it will substitute in the Display Name. If you use the plain address format it will substitute the address instead. Re: approval via email
Alan, I receive an ''approval required'' notice which suggestsI can approve a sub In your case you'll need to reply using btinternet's webmail interface instead of your SMTP client application. That's because of the BT Internet bug that Duane and Donald have mentioned. Or, click through the link and approve via Groups.io's web site. However when I do this it posts the approval message to ALL group members. This is surely not correct You're right, it is not correct. It is a bug in BTinternet's handling of messages that originate with an SMTP client application. In your case whatever "gnat" is. BTinternet is stripping the part of the To: address in your reply that tells Groups.io that your message is an approval. You'll have the same problem with all other Email Commands as well. The Hello [Name] at least ought to be editable, but I can't dope out how to do so. Thanks. |

Re: Weird Behavior when Viewing Members Info - email flashes on the screen, then is replace with mine
harlan,
For what it is worth, I'm not seeing this behavior either. Using Win10, Firefox w/LastPass installed and active. In your report to support include details of your OS, Browser, and any browser plugins you might have that could auto-fill a field for you. Since it seems to have started yesterday for you, it is possible that an update to your browser, any plug-ins, or to Groups.io itself is causing it. My theory is that some software on your side is recognizing that that field wants an email address, so it is conveniently filling in your email address. The change in behavior could be because Groups.io changed something in the HTML code surrounding that box (for example, may have added something that identifies it as an email field, perhaps to improve screen-reader behavior). Or it could be an update on your end. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Alan,
I have never seen this happen so here's an overview of moderating -? /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Approving---moderating-a-message If you have other moderators who don't wish to get certain messages, their notices can be changed. In Admin, Members, Membership, Notifications, you can set these: Notifications
Email when there are messages needing approval.
Email when there are members needing approval.
Email when a member joins/leaves this group.
Email when group storage limits are reached.
Email when someone creates or deletes a subgroup.
Email when someone reports a message.

Re: HASHTAG Time Limit QUESTION . . . .
I'm back . . . .
So . . . I added a 'one hour' hashtag to the 'forever' hashtag for the announcement post and it deleted the announcement post within five minutes of it having been added. Don't know why it acted so quickly but it appears that if I want to use such a 2nd hashtag it will have to be set as 'forever' and then deleted manually. Now we know. PM == |
Re: HASHTAG Time Limit QUESTION . . . .
Interesting but my announcement post is not locked so that potential attendees may RSVP.
The announcement's (forever) hashtag is restricted to moderator use but does allow attendees to reply. Let's see what adding a 'one day' hashtag to the post and it forever hashtag does. Will let you know tomorrow. PM == |
