Re: Adding a company name to the membership information
Seth,
Is it possible to add a field for Company Name in theIt is not. But the suggestion has been made: Each member has a Notes tab on their entry in the Members list, but that information doesn't display anywhere else, limiting its utility. Check your spam folder that might be a good option.

Re: Non-members of Group can read messages?
Richard, Can non-members of a Group read the messages without the Owner/Moderator knowing who they are? That depends on the Visibility setting in the Privacy section of the group's Settings. If that says "publicly viewable messages" then anyone on the web can read them. GMF is set this way so that members of other groups can read our Messages in search of answers. Our Wiki is likewise public. Setting that to a choice that says "private messages" restricts visibility to members of your group that are logged into the site using the email address subscribed to your group. ?In neither case can an Owner/Mod find out whether an individual has visited the Messages pages or not. Re: Reply-to set to a different sub-group?
#howto
Doranna, Is it possible to set a reply-to so responses to one sub-group automatically go to a different subgroup? As Bruce said, there is not.
That's an interesting use case. Is it your expectation that the members of the first subgroup would choose whether to be members of the second, and that any that did could join in on the discussion? I have a similar use case in my PTA group, but there I'm not trying to foster discussion of the announcements among the overall unit membership, but I would like member's replies to be directed to the unit's board for consideration (the board is a subgroup, the unit membership is the primary group). What I've done instead is set Reply To in the primary group to Moderators. This makes the moderators of the primary group responsible for handling and/or forwarding the replies as necessary. A little less than ideal, but fortunately it hasn't been a big burden to the moderators. The closest thing I can think of to your use case (if I have it right) would be for the members to use the Advanced Preferences in their Subscription page to receive the announcements (only) or the announcements and discussion as well. This does away with the need for a separate subgroup for discussion. A member generally interested in the discussions could set (keep) their Message Selection to the default All Messages to see all discussion. This would be the equivalent of joining the discussion subgroup.
A member interested in the announcements only could set their Message Selection option set to Following Only plus First Message Also (and maybe Auto Follow Replies). Those members would receive all of the announcements (those would be the First Messages of new topics) but not the discussion (replies). This would be the equivalent of joining the announcements subgroup but not the discussion subgroup. Additionally, a member who chose "announcements only" could choose to receive discussion on just certain announcements of interest by following that particular announcement (topic). You can, however, subscribe an address to both subgroups, and set up a forwarder so the desired messages are sent to the target subgroup, either directly or via an email integration. Of course, the original message will land in the target subgroup too, not just the replies. If this is objectionable for some reason you could be out of luck. Re: Messages to +owner being wrongly routed to the whole group
I've just migrated a group to io, and we've immediately had this problem, in that two of my fellow moderators are with BTinternet.? This has resulted in a message from each, attempting to approve a new subscription to the group, wrongly appearing on the group.? This actually highlights an important issue, which people in touch with BTinternet might wish to raise, which is that, in causing emails to go to others than those to whom they are addressed, they have caused statutory data protection breaches under UK (and EU?) law. Thanks for the advice to: "tell the members to use btinternet's webmail interface if they wish to issue email commands, since it seems that messages sent that way are not affected by this bug." |

Re: Individual E Mails
David,
Another thing to check, on the person's Membership page, is Message Selection, in the Advanced Preferences section (expander). If the member has selected Following Only
then he/she would be sent only group messages
in topics or hashtags he/she is following. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: Individual E Mails
David,
When a new member joins your group that person's initial Email Delivery setting would come from the Default Sub Settings tab in
your group's Settings page. Check there to be sure new members are set up the way you want them. Otherwise the most likely cause is that the member selected it him/herself, either when filling out the Subscription form (if he/she joined via the web) or by email command.
As Bruce said, you may want to check the member's Email Delivery History to see what that says. That might indicate that Verizon has rejected (bounced) some group messages. If there are no Recent Bounces but the Most Recent Successful Delivery is not (yet) showing the most recent message in your group that might indicate that Verizon is delaying delivery () messages from Groups.io.
No.
I think that is unlikely to help. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Based on your subject line I assume you have him on individual emails? Has anything been posted to the group in that interval? If not, it stands to reason that he wouldn't have received anything. If the correction involved subscribing him to one of the digest modes, a digest will not be sent until such time that enough messages are collected. A digest is sent after 12 messages arrive or at the end of the day, whichever comes first.? It's been my experience that changes to a subscriber's email setting take place immediately. If you're concerned that verizon may be blocking delivery, open his member record again and click the Email Delivery History button at the top of the resulting page. Individual E Mails
David Sayles
We had a new person join our group today but the setting was inccorrect. ?It used the option of No EMail. ?That was corrected about an hour later but the person is not receiving any EMail three hours later. Is there a 24 hour waiting period becuase it was set up incorrectly? ?Has anyone else had this issue and if so, what was done. ?I know I can delete the E Mail and have him rejoin but was looking for any other ideas.
