I wonder why implement Upload Folder at all because while uploading to Files or Photos you can select several files with Shift-click or Ctrl-click.

A dialog box opens that says "select files," not "select directory" as you would expect. When you click Browse in this dialog another dialog opens where you actually select what you want to upload. If you highlight the origination directory, it populates and seems ready to go, but if you click upload at that point it fails.

You have to first double-click INTO the directory...where it shows NO files present, even if some are actually there ("no files match your search"). If you click Upload anyway then it finally comes back to the first dialog where you can enter a description and complete the upload.?

If there are any photos in the folder being uploaded and you don't have your group configured to allow photos in the files area, it will throw a separate error for each one.

If the amount of files to upload is large (several hundred MB), I suspect the whole thing can still time out. I don't know whether the files are partially uploaded/folder created in that case or if the whole thing aborts...maybe someone else could try that.

In short, it works, but is not very intuitive; and the inability to do the same with a photo album is puzzling.

Removing the address from your group's Members list doesn't delete the account associated with that address. The existence of that account is what blocks you from making it an alias address to another address' account.

and also I never created a login (password) for that email in the
first place.

You can log into it without a password.

Log out from the Groups site (or open a browser which is not logged in). Then go to the Log In page and click the "Email me a link to log in" button, and enter into that page the alternative email address.
/sendloginlink

Groups.io will send to that address an email message containing a coded link. Click that and you'll be logged in to the account of the alternative address. Now you can check to ensure that it is not subscribed to any groups, and then delete the account.

Happy to know that GMF has persisted for as long as it has. Congrats to Mark F., and many thanks to Shal, Bruce and all the helpful moderators and members who make GMF so helpful!

GMF proved most useful for me when I got handed an existing YGroup and suddenly was a new group owner.

GMF continues to be helpful now that our group has settled onto Groups.IO and is (happily) away from YGroups, LEO, and that whole ongoing frustration of Y!Groups.

Using the online message editor, you can quote the entire message by clicking the far-left icon on the menu bar in the editor ("Quote Whole Post"). Or you can highlight a portion of the message before you hit the Reply button, and that section of the message will be quoted (as I have done above).

There is no group or account setting within groups.io that will automatically do this for you.

With respect to your email client, there are usually settings/preferences that can be set for this. To provide further assistance we would need to know what you are using to read your email.

Currentlly when you direct add a member to a group and connected
subgroups an email is generated for each one.

I believe that you can uncheck the Active box in the Welcome notices of each of the subgroups to prevent them from being sent automatically. The notices are stored in the Member Notices tab of each (sub)group's Settings page.

Did the user write down the onetime codes that are generated when he setup the 2FA? There is a reason why you do this.

Currentlly when you direct add a member to a group and connected subgroups an email is generated for each one. ?In our case it creats 4 email to the member, one for the main group and 3 for seperate subgroups. ?It would be nice if the member got just one email notifying them of their membership(s).

I know it would require a link for each group if they want to unsubscribe from the group, but that seems like a doable option.

The Directory will only show the members that have chosen to share their Group Profile, either to other group members or to the public.? A simple way for each person to check is for them to look at the Directory.? If they already share their Profile, they'll see the others that have shared it.? If they aren't sharing, there will be information and a link they can use to change the setting in the Profile Privacy section.? Also see /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Directory-and-Members-List

Good morning,
As an Owner/Moderator I can see all the members of our group, no problem.? However, when my wife who is a 'mere' member, looks at the Directory on her machine she can only view 20 members although the page states 20 of 240.? When clicking the next arrow (bottom right) the 'No entry' sign is displayed and obviously nothing happens.? She has, I believe, set the appropriate fields in her profile.
Any ideas please?
