Those who are new to groups.io (i.e.: new accounts) have to respond to a "confirmation message" sent to their email address to ensure they actually want to receive groups.io emails and that the address they provided is correct. They?must?click on the link in that email to begin to receive any groups.io messages.

You can resend the confirmation email to those in NC status by reopening their subscriber record and clicking the "Send confirmation email" button at the bottom of the page.?Of course, if that message lands in their spam/junk email folder -- or the subscriber we're talking about is uber-conservative about clicking on links -- the whole thing becomes problematical.

See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Status-Badges-in-the-Members-List?and?/static/help#confirmemail?for details.?

Hope this helps,

Richard,

?
A troublesome member, ex moderated but now not moderated is posting messages that I do not get via my e-mail.
?
There is nothing that he can have done to prevent Groups.io from sending his messages to you along with all other members. Nor is there any setting that you (or another group owner) can have applied to his subscription that would cause that.
?
So the quest is to figure out what actually is happening. Here are some things to check:
?
On the Groups.io side:
  • Do his posts contain a hashtag that has the No Email property?
  • Do his posts contain a hashtag that you have muted?
  • Is he posting to a Topic that you have muted?
  • Is your Email Delivery set to Individual Messages?
  • Is your Message Selection (under Advanced Preferences) set to All Messages?
  • Are his messages listed as Bounced in the Email Delivery History tab of your group Subscription page?
?
On your email interface:
  • Have you set a filter that blocks or redirects his address
  • Are his messages in your Spam (or Trash or other junk) folder?
?
I think that covers nearly all of the ways that his messages might not be delivered to your email Inbox when they are posted to the group's Messages section.

I have just had a similar experience.
While I was waiting for mail to load into my Incredimail email program, I decided to check a group that I belong to message page. Now the owner of that group had sent a few messages which I was able to read from the messages on the web page. However, I never received that mail in my inbox. I did receive mail?from members who sent before and after those messages so I know my settings are correct. ?Leeni

Ray -- If you want to disable a posting override, click the top radio button in the Posting Privileges section of his user record ("use group moderation setting"). Doing so should remove the "P" badge.

This doesn't, however, explain why you aren't receiving his posts. Did you check your own Email Delivery History as Duane suggested?

Hope this helps,

I get every other member post sent to my e-mail.
But not his.
In the Member list there is a "P" after his name.
It says, "can Post".
When I un-moderated him it appears that I checked the wrong box in posting.
What box should I have checked?
I don't know what the definition of each thing is.

You've done what you can.? If you had been the only owner, the system should have refused to allow you to merge the accounts because that would have removed the only owner.? I can't verify that, but it should only fail if there's a bug in the system.

Issue regarding merging of 2 accounts and owner status

Hi Team,

I am a member of a number of groups and moderator of one. A couple of days ago I set up a new group and was therefore the owner. Over the years I have 2 different emails registered on my groups which often meant I received duplicate emails. One of those addresses is just a re-direction service to the first. The redirection service email it turned out was the one I used to set up the new group. Once it was approved (yesterday)? I added another person to the group who I made an admin. Once we had agreed on a list of people to join I was set then to start adding people. But then I discovered that I couldn't send email from my mail client on my desktop because it was coming from my primary address and not the redirection one. So, I thought I would try to fix all of that and hopefully resolve the duplicate emails. I tried adding my primary as an alias but the system reported it was already there? so then I found I could merge the two accounts and one would be deleted...so I went down that track only to discover I was now no longer the owner of the group I had just set up. I have emailed the only other member to ask them to add me as an admin but must be a way of getting ownership of the group back.

Sorry for the convoluted email and hope you can understand what has happened and give me a way forward.

John

Dave -- This is not a bug.?

This behavior has been discussed often, most recently here:?/g/GroupManagersForum/topic/32524744#17760 .?It often happens if the person quotes your original message without removing the photo. That being so, the Emailed Photos folder should contain both your original photo and the duplicate.

Groups.io has no way to determine whether something attached to?any?incoming message is accidental or intentional (even a duplicate can be intentional). Short of asking your subscribers to use more discretion when quoting/replying, there is currently no way to keep this from happening.?

#bug ?-New Photo Attribution #bug

dave w

Hi team,

Only recently have I been actively posting (by Group posts only) a few pics of my hobby activities.
**NB not related to YG transfers**

When in some random instance I wanted to check the group 'record' of what has been emailed (Emailed Photos), I find the my pics have been attributed another member, who has only replied to my 'posts'.
I'm not sure that is desirable in any sense (ie he may not want to be associated with my work ;-) ) but also from an obvious point- were I not Owner/Admin I couldn't do anything about correction (should I want to).
A bug? I see no previous IOG specific correspondence on this,

I just checked this out (moderator upload, subscribers view) and the answer is no.? I could still see the trashcan, but when I tried to delete it, I was told I didn't have permission (as a former moderator.)? When I saw the trashcan, I was concerned, but luckily it was a false alarm.? However, the account that uploaded it still "owned" the file, so I think that's why the trashcan showed up.

A member has found a way to not copy me, Owner

A troublesome member, ex moderated but now not moderated is posting messages that I do not get via my e-mail.
I usually read the massages via my e-mail.
I can go for some time without seeing what he has posted until I scroll through various Topics
I want to see every post he makes via my e-mail, just like every other member.
The setting is the second one down, Override, not moderated

What can I do to see every post via my e-mail.

Thanks,

Richard

Re: Going no Mail

If you allow No Mail (I don¡¯t in my groups), the member can change their mail settings to that. Otherwise, to Special Notices Only.?
Go to Edit Subscription on the left side of the homepage.

Re: Going no Mail

The easiest way is for the member to send an email to [email protected] and replace groupname with the name of your group.? (They could also use groupname+nomail, but some groups disable the no email setting.)? Then when they are ready to receive messages, they can send an email specifying which delivery method they want, probably groupname+single.? For a complete list of email commands, see /static/help#what-are-the-available-email-commands.

You can also go in and change their delivery method on their member subscription for them.

Re: need help please [with group address or title]

Ana,

Hello there, I own a group called Angelsons, I am having a problem, when I wright to the group, the people get
the angel part, but I get angle songs,

I'm having some difficulty understanding your problem. I can't tell if angel (a n g e l)? versus angle (a n g l e) is the problem, or merely a typo in your message. Are you using assistive technologies like a screen reader and/or voice-to-text when you read and compose messages?

and I have tried to fix it but I cant find the mistake,
?
In your group's Settings page, there are two fields to check.

1) Group Title. This one is intended as a short but readable text so people looking in the Groups.io directory will know what your group is about. In the angelsonges group (cited in your message sig line) the Group Title currently reads as "angelsons". That's probably too short for this purpose, and may be better if made more readable. For example, "Angel Sons" or even "Angel Sons - A Christian Group for Prayer"

2) Group Email Address. This one is used in both the group's email addresses and in its web addresses (URLs). As such it needs to be compact and without spaces (and some other punctuation marks). In your group this currently reads as "angelsonges". Note the difference in spelling - a n g e l s o n g e s instead of a n g e l s o n s. Based on your display name in this group I'm inclined to believe that you intended Sons rather than Songs.

The custom part of the Group Email Address is often referred to as the group's name.

Do be aware that changing the Group Email Address will have consequences for your members, so you don't want to do it more often than absolutely necessary. Read Renaming a Group for more information.

and I also cant make the n show up,

I don't see where an n would be missing. I do see an extra g e in your Group Email Address though, as spelled out above.

I hope this helps.

Re: SPECIAL MESSAGE

In each individual's email preferences, they can choose individual messages, digest, summary, or special notices. Those who choose special notices will not receive any email that is not sent as a special notice (they may want to go into their groups.io account to read and respond to messages rather than receiving them in their personal email account). If you send something as a special notice, this assures that everyone will receive it in their email.
