Photo albums

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hello:? I am trying to understand photo albums within Groups. Even in the Group Manager forum, there is one photo album with 400+ pictures? I want to delete a photo album in one of my groups that serves no purpose. How do I do that? And can I not set up separate photo albums for individual projects?

?

Thank you for your help in this matter.

My WIKI folder needs to be fixed?

I am not the well versed on making changes, especially the Wiki Folder, so before a mistake is made by me, I need advice first.

To start, the Wiki on a Groups.io forum was created as a 'Table of Contents"? with links to documents and videos. It was working just fine.
Then one of the moderators accidentally added a folder and now there is two folders. The information says that I should make a folder with the word "Home"

My question is what is the best way to move the additional accident folder,? and get the "Table of Contents" folder as the "Home" folder.

Subject: [GMF] Sending messages to the group owner And moderators

If someone wants to send a message to the group owner and or moderators, how will the group owner and or moderator receive it to their email? I tried doing a test of that, for my group, using the groupname@ groupowners.io, and I didn¡¯t get it. In other words, I clicked on the group owners email. The reason why I¡¯m asking this, is if someone wanted to ask me a private question, instead of posting it to the platform.

I think we'll all find out together.? From my understanding, a lot of it is based on the current API, so it may cover all users.

Email Delivery Options for Message Topics #featurerequest

Dears GMF members,

I have a group with around 400 members and most of them have 'Individual Messages' as email delivery option.

Whenever a sensitive message topic is discussed, there is a lot of one liner confirmation responses like 'I too agree', 'OK for me but ...' etc and too many mails are received for everyone.

As a moderator, I collate the one liner responses from many owners and send it as an digest from my own admin id which is very time consuming.

I would like to request a feature where Email Delivery options can be set up on individual topics or hashtags.

or Is it possible already to do so by any other means?

P.S:
1. Many folks would not like set up the option Full Featured Digest in the fear of missing out important mails immediately
2. The topic cannot be just restricted into a poll as there are numerous options available from members.

I want to set up automatic notifications to send to members when they subscribe, unsubscribe, and if they subscribe, automatically have an email sent explaining the rules and such. If this is possible, how do you do it?

Click on the Member Notices tab of your group's Settings page. There you can add notices of various types to be sent at the relevant event. For more?information see the help page:

Hello,
I was just wondering, if there is a groups.io Application you can download from the App Store to manage your subscriptions and your group.

Re: Downloading pdf files to Files Section

Rich,

Having a problem adding pdf files in the file section. I have tried
repeatedly and when I do the transfer I get "Access Denied."
When do you get the error message?

Did you Drag & Drop the file, or did you use the Browse button to find it? If you used Browse, did the error occur when clicked the Open button? In either case is the error appearing in the Preview of the file at the top of the Upload File dialog? Or does the error appear somewhere after you click the Add button?

I don't have an answer, but here are some "is it plugged in" checks I would try if I were having this problem:

o On your computer, can you open this pdf file with Adobe Reader?

o On your computer, is the file inside of a .zip or other type of container file?

o On your computer, is the pdf file in a folder from which you've uploaded other files?

o In the group, are you uploading the pdf file to a folder to which you've uploaded other files?

o You've reported a 1 MB file size, so that should be ok.

o Is there anything unusual about the file name of this file? Can you rename it to something simpler if it is long or contains special characters?

o Is there anything unusual about the content of this pdf file? Does it contain form-fillout or other active content features? Any reason it might not pass an antivirus/malware check?

o Have you tried uploading other PDF files?

If you hit upon the answer, please let us know.

Rich,

pdf files do work. It could be an individual file size issue. Is it a large pdf file?

Another thing to try is to refresh your browser cache and try again.

Re: Reply to options

Gerald,

It should be easy enough to defer sending the "to sender" part until
after the moderation has taken place.
I'll pass on the "easy" question (above my pay grade), but I do question the value proposition. Why do that when the group could chose "Group" instead of "Group and Sender" and avoid the issue altogether. The sender would receive a copy along with everyone else, post moderation - which is what you're asking for.

On the second point, it might be a good idea not to present a reply to
sender link option to the user for moderated topics.
Here I think it depends on what the group wants to have happen. Some groups might want the Sender to get a copy of replies independent of moderation. By choosing "Group and Sender" instead of "Group" that's the choice they made.

Re: Reply to options

Gerald Boutin

Shal,

It should be easy enough to defer sending the "to sender" part until after the moderation has taken place. Of course, developers never seem to appreciate the e-word very much.?? It just seems that if the topic is important enough to need moderation, then the reply directly to the sender would be of a high risk variety.

On the second point, it might be a good idea not to present a reply to sender link option to the user for moderated topics. If the sender address is available, then it could of course still be replied to manually, but I see no need to make it easy to work around moderation. Then again, I haven't tried to check this out, so it may already be done that way.

For replies via the group's web pages that would be possible, although
it probably doesn't fit very well into the structure of how Groups.io
handles messages. The web page Reply (and New Topic) functions I believe
essentially act as ordinary email interfaces and send the messages at
the time you click the "Reply to" button (or Send). Which would be why
the reply to Sender reaches the sender (of the original message)
immediately, while the reply to group reaches the pending list (assuming
approval was required).

For replies via email, the same thing happens, except that the replies
are being sent by the member's email interface with no possibility for
Groups.io to cause a delay in sending the copy that goes direct to the
Sender.

Gerald,

When I read through Julie's issue, I was thinking about posts made via
the web, and I also expected that moderating a reply would mean that
nothing is sent anywhere before it is moderated.

Re: Reply to options

Gerald Boutin

Shal,

I am with Julie on this one. When I read through Julie's issue, I was thinking about posts made via the web, and I also expected that moderating a reply would mean that nothing is sent anywhere before it is moderated.? My impression is that the Reply to Group and Sender is that the to Sender part is just an extra courtesy and serves to make it easier for people to communicate directly without the ongoing conversation being logged into the archives.

On the other hand, I can see where the Reply to Sender option should probably not be moderated.

Set Reply To to "Group" (without sender).

> We have our reply to settings as "Reply to Group and Sender." The
> Sender will see a Reply preview before it's been moderated, ...

It isn't a preview, it is the reply sent directly from the replying
member's email service to the sender's. Groups.io is not involved in
that connection. Separately, Groups.io receives a copy of the reply and
holds it pending.

If you set Reply To Group then the original sender will have to wait to
see the reply, after it is approved, same as all the other members.

What the Reply To option does is put a header field in all outbound
messages that tells the members' email service where replies should go.
So when the receiving member clicks Reply in their email service, the
reply is directed to the Reply-To address(es) specified in the original
message.

(That's a little over-simplified: not all email interfaces obey the
Reply-To field properly. But those are more the exception than the rule
these days.)
