Re: Group Member Message Editing
Ern, You know what would be handy?? The ability for a Group member to edit his/her posted message.? That exists. Some groups disable the feature though. The Disable Editing Posts checkbox can be found in the Message Policies section of the group's Settings page. Even if that is checked, moderators can edit member posts if the moderator has the Edit Archives permission. Owners can always edit message posts. Several social media hosts permit editing, however, the reader has to dig to see the history of changes.? All changes should be visible. Both statements are true here, in the groups web pages (Messages section). Messages that have been edited are marked with an Edited badge. Clicking that badge gives a list of the revisions that have been made, you can click on a revision to see that one, or checkmark two revisions to see a comparison of what changed. By email, the situation is different. If a member edits his/her message the updated version is sent to the list, with a notice at the top that says it has been edited. This is why some groups turn the feature off for members - they find the edited messages more distracting than an "oops" message. If a mod or owner edits a message the mod/owner will have the choice of save and send, or saving the changes without sending the update. But even if the owner/mod chooses not to send the update to the group, it will be sent to the individual member whose message was edited. Group Member Message Editing
I cannot find this topic in the archives.
You know what would be handy?? The ability for a Group member to edit his/her posted message.? The edited portion should show up either in the header or footer of the original message.? Often times members post either a new topic or reply to a posted message, and they do an "oops".? "I shouldn't have said it that way." It would be important that the original message is displayed, but the "addendum" should be included, example: [Addendum:? I should have included an additional contact number for clarification.? Please include xxx-xxx-xxxx] Several social media hosts permit editing, however, the reader has to dig to see the history of changes.? All changes should be visible. Newbie Here -- a [transfer] Question
Dan Robinson
I am seeking to transfer a Yahoo group over to Groups.io??? I have already created the group at the free level, but see now
that a transfer requires at least a year at the premium level, which I am not sure members of the Yahoo group will be willing to do. Can someone clarify for me whether it is an absolute requirement now by Groups.io that premium status exist in order to have Groups do a transfer? Thanks [subject line enhanced by moderator] |
Re: Newbie here
It's usually a matter of minutes to hours, but Mark is on vacation so it may be on the longer side for now.

Re: Calendar event reminders not set
All the ¡°plugged in¡± steps were done, but always good questions to ask. The reminder is still visible when I go to edit the event, the reminder just never got sent out. It¡¯s a monthly event so I guess I¡¯ll have to wait until then to see if it works for future events.?

Missing cal-summary emails anyone?
#cal-summary
Since the introduction of the feature I've been receiving cal-summary emails at 07:00 each Friday (UK time) - except today when none have been received so far.
I'm not aware of any changes in this area so is anyone else missing their cal-summary emails? Thanks Andy |

Re: Customizing Invite
Susan,
Anyway to save the custom version?Yes. In fact you can save multiple versions to choose from. On the Member Notices tab of your group's Settings page create one or more notices of type Invite. For awhile my custom text was saved with the invite. Now it is not soOn the Invite page there is now a drop-list below the text box in the Customize Message section. Select one of your saved notices, and then modify it if desired. The modifications will not be saved unless you copy/paste them back on the Member Notices tabs. Re: Hashtag Editing Options

== == Yes Bruce, that was my intent. But of course it's only the hashtag that would vanish and the post(s) that carried that hashtag would remain in place, but just no longer flagged with the hashtag. In my case I'd only be using one certain hashtag which would only be dedicated for use with a particular repeating post. There are about three separate announcements on our group that post monthly, but on different dates fom each other. So we would be using 3 or 4 distinct hashtags (lets say perhaps 'W', 'X', 'Y' and 'Z') sometime at the same time together and other times at different (discontinuous) times. Shal pointed out that I could use a hashtag to search for all post(s) with a particular hashtag and manually remove the hashtag from them. I tried this out and found several (4) of one hashtag (lets say hashtag 'X' here) that I had missed from some months back. But when deleting them that way it was fairly clumsy because each 'X-flagged' post neeeded to be deleted separately and when it was deleted the search ended and another search was required to bring up the remaining 3 'X-flagged' posts again, so they had to be deleted one at a time, re-doing the same search 3 more times. (Or maybe I'm overlooking something that would have allowed the removal of all 4 hashtags 'X' in one swell foop!) So it still seems to me that it would be useful to have such a time-limiting hashtag feature that one could select that would eliminate having to manually locate a post and delete its hashtag. Andy, I think one reminder is enough :-) Me too. When Mark added the "Upcoming Event: " to the subject line for reminders, I changed GMF's repeating event to use a notification instead of a reminder. And indeed, the event currently shows No reminders set. So this would appear to be a bug, very likely related to the one reported recently by Tamara [GMF #17966]. Re: Group name change doesn't fully propagate
#subgroups
Shaun, I recently changed the name of my group from "marsdev" to "marssettlement". One of my members is reporting the following: Of course. Messages sent before the name change now reside in the member's email system can't be updated (by Groups.io). So the reply-to address and any links in the message footer will now be out of date. Also out of date will be any bookmarks (favorites), address book entries, and autocompletes that are tucked away in the member's browser and/or email interface. Re: GMF Subscription
No need to do anything, Mick.? This calendar event is used instead of the Guidelines because it contains additional information.? It was set up before there even was a guidelines auto-send option and seems to work better for this group.
