More information here about some add-ons for email to make the process easier: The above short article mentions a plug-in for Outlook that makes it easier to delay sending messages, as the built-in utility is buried and difficult to find, though I've used it before in the office just using the help file to guide me through the process. If you find Gmail's delayed send feature a bit difficult to use, they mention a plug-in for Gmail to make it easier. Boomerang is available for several platforms, even iOS and Android. There is a free basic version limited to 10 scheduled emails per month, which might be plenty enough for you. Otherwise, you can use the delay in Outlook or Gmail which is built-in. There used to be a program called Boomerang for Yahoo Mail but it is no longer supported or available. These are just a few ways to get an email sent at a later scheduled time. As far as I can tell, Yahoo doesn't have the feature built into their mail, even though they claim that their mail is the best and most fantastic email there is on the planet. Thanks, Bruce. Yes, this crowd is primarily email only, so a poll is not going to work so well. The onus of recording is on whoever sent the original email, also. Editing the hashtag to reply-to-sender seems like the best plan, though I wish there was an automated way to detect this, so that if someone sends an email at one in the morning, someone doesn't have to be up to catch it before the responses happen. Is there a way of scheduling a post? There's not a way that makes sense.? Scheduling a post
Marcio
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi,Is there a way of scheduling a post? That is, I want to post something to my group, but I don't want to post it immediately. Maybe later today or even any other day. Just wondering if it's possible at all. ?
Thanks a lot, as always. P.S.: Please, delete the other post with a similar message. Somehow i managed to send it before finishing the email! :/ Cheers, AKA Starboy Sent from a galaxy far, far away. |

But each subscriber has to log in to respond, which seems to be a significant hurdle for some folks to overcome. Many will reply to the poll notification by email anyway, subverting your efforts to eliminate the clutter. If recording the results is not an important consideration, the "reply only to sender" option in a hashtag will achieve your stated objective.?You might even combine the two (i.e.: include such a hashtag in the poll subject). ? ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýGlenn,What I am wondering is if there an automated way of handling this problem. For example, if a particular hashtag, like #resolution or something was used, the thread would be locked from the start. People could reply to the sender, but not the group.Donald's solution looks like the best approach for a case like this. However, to do exactly what you want, you can create (or use a previously created) a hashtag and edit it. Editing the hashtag will have lots of options such as: - Locked (any topic with this hashtag will be immediately locked) - Moderated (any reply to this topic will need to be aproved by a mod or an owner) - Topic duration (you will be able to set a period for topics with this hashtag and, after this period, decide whether they will be locked or deleted) ... Nonetheless, based on what you said,
People could reply to the sender, but not the group.?I'd think the more desired option in this case is the "Reply to". With this option, any reply to any topic using this hashtag can be sent to the sender, to the moderator, both to the sender and to the group (...) depending on your choice. Hope this helps :) Cheers, AKA Starboy Sent from a galaxy far, far away. |

Lock or Moderate on Hashtag
Glenn Glazer
We have a group where people frequently submit resolutions or petitions to be signed. As one might imagine, each time this happens, it is followed by a slew of "me, too" posts from each list member indicating their desire to sponsor or sign on.
What I am wondering is if there an automated way of handling this problem. For example, if a particular hashtag, like #resolution or something was used, the thread would be locked from the start. People could reply to the sender, but not the group. Thoughts and strategies welcome. Best, Glenn |

"...my browser is blocking the .io website - the security certificate expired in 2018."If she's using Firefox, have her update her Firefox browser. In Firefox she can just go to Help > About and go from there. Firefox has had a known problem with certificates in the past week and patches and a full upgrade are available. Dano |
Re: Difficulty signing in
Yvette, "I have been offline for 6 months, and now when I try to get into the website, my browser is blocking the .io website - the security certificate expired in 2018. As Frances mentioned, the Groups.io's site security certificate is not expired, but the prior one expired in 2018. So perhaps her browser (or other software) has cached the old certificate and failed to retrieve the updated one. Or, perhaps her browser has an old set of root certificates and it is one of the certificates "up the chain" that is actually expired. One thing to check might be what browser she is using, and whether it is up to date. Also what OS, and is it up to date. I can't see a way to update this and can't get into the website to try to contact io themselves!!!" The browser is supposed to take care of fetching up-to-date certificates as needed. I'm not very expert in how this can go wrong so I'm unsure what steps to take. Maybe hard refresh of the page (Ctrl+F5) or flushing the page from her browser history (cache) will trigger it.
The page she needs is the login page: On that page she can use the link for forgotten password, or the button to log in by email. Once she gets past the certificate issue. There may be a way she can tell her browser to proceed to the site despite the "expired" certificate.
I'm not entirely sure that an anti-virus product is involved, but I suppose it is possible. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Thanks for checking Frances.? I was thinking it might be a problem with the person's anti-virus not recognizing groups.io or something like that.? I checked that the person is still a member on the group and she does show up in the list.? However, I am not an owner or moderator on this group so can't check other things here (I was asked to help because the moderator wasn't sure what to tell the person and they knew I was an owner of another group).? I know the person still receives the digest because that is how she sent the message in to the group.? If she forgot her password (which is most likely after 6 months), how do we get her to the sign in page?? Right now she can't even get to that because the page is being blocked - most likely by her anti-virus?
I don't know what anti-virus she is using but can send her a message to ask.? I am not that knowledgeable regarding different anti-viruses so don't know how to tell her to whitelist the groups.io page (if that is what is needed). -- Yvette in Ontario |

Re: Difficulty signing in
Hi Yvette,
I checked with Firefox browser - clicked on the padlock, etc. SSL until September 9, 2020. Perhaps the wrong URL? Have you checked whether this person is still a member? Look in Admin, Members. If she isn't, you can send an invitation. Or perhaps the person has forgotten their password.?
