Re: new member limited to one topic
#addmembers
No, this can't be done.? Once you've made someone a member of a group or subgroup, they have full access to the [sub]group.

Is there a way to add a member but limit the topics or hashtags they can see? We want to add a member for one project only...

Re: Sending an Invitation
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýKenneth,How do I invite someone to join my list? Under Admin, click on the Invite page: On the right side of the page is a preview of the invitation email, a box for you to add custom text if you wish, and a box for you to enter the email addresses of the people you wish to invite. At the very bottom of the page is a blue Send Invitations button to click when you have the invitation(s) set up as you want them. Note where it says [Name] in the preview. If you provide display names along with the email addresses those will be substituted there. If you don't that will be left blank. Also note the Sent Invitations button at the top of the page. Use it to see the status of any invitations you have sent. To access the Admin group of buttons in the left column then you must be logged into Groups.io with the role of Moderator (with the Invite Members permission) or Owner in this group. See the badge on the Home button, shown at the upper left of the screenshot. There are other ways for people to join your group, depending on whether you've set it to have Restricted Membership or not. Ask again if you have more questions. There are no separate email commands for those.? They need to be set from the site.

Do addresses (much like the subscribe, unsubscribe, digest, etc.) addresses at the group level exist to toggle these settings, and they're just not well publicized, or do those not exist at all?

Re: Databases
I was set for infinite scroll but still had only 20 line view on DB
I then set to 100 lines, Updated, set back to Infinite & updated and it worked. In some cases, when Mark made updates, they didn't affect prior settings for some strange reason. This is the second case where this happened to me. I still stand by using a very short DB for initial testing. If you load 500 lines you might have a wait for it to be initially "digested" When I first did that it took almost 10 minutes but Mark worked on it to speed it up since then as he promised. -- Bob Bellizzi Founder, Fuchs Friends?? |
Re: Databases
Bill,
However, in Column 2, I selected "Image" but how to proceed past thatI'm not quite sure where you are, in Create Table or Add Row. The image is not part of the table design, so you don't add the image while creating/editing the table design. You add the image when adding each new row to the table - the image is a data value in each row. Re: Databases
Bill,
I just scanned the WIKI instructions for Databases and nowhere did I find recommendation for saving your basic schema frequently as you progress. You should save it in json format so that you have something to (re)start with if needed or to copy to start a new database. I've also found it's a lot better to have a small sample of test information preset in a .csv file that can be easily and quickly imported for testing.? If it reflects what your DB should look like it will load correctly, else you have a problem. If you have to make changes to your database it's best to keep your test file below 20 rows because you can only delete 20 rows at a time.? Easy in, easy out. I've also found that there are different displays for free groups and prime/Enterprise groups. If you have postal addresses in a field,?Free groups only see the database and get an automatic link below it that says (MAP) which takes you to Google Directions.??Prime and Enterprise groups see a Map with the list below it. My words of wisdom are save, save, save! BTW, the json file is utf-8 and will show little white plus signs inside black shapes in place of invalid characters. -- Bob Bellizzi Founder, Fuchs Friends?? |
Re: Is there any way that a group member can hide their email address but not their name when posting?
Mike,
With all due respect you already do it for because of DMARC. SinceOf course it is not impossible for Groups.io to create such a feature. As Duane mentioned, I said it is impossible for a member or a group owner/mod because the feature does not currently exist in Groups.io. Questions about exactly how it should work and who should be able to choose it have been discussed extensively in the beta group. The search term you want is "anonymous". When posting at beta please keep in mind that the purpose of that group is to suggest and discuss improvements to the service. Remember too that your primary audience is Groups.io, in particular Mark Fletcher - who has already read all of these discussions and considered them. Debating with "voices from the gallery" wastes his time and yours unless it serves to further refine your suggestion. If I recall correctly Mark never said that he couldn't or wouldn't implement an anonymous feature. Just that it is not at the top of his priority list. But if you are serious about wanting to advance this feature I suggest you begin by evaluating for yourself what's been said already. I have seen several postings from folks claiming impossible....can't be done....etc
With all due respect you already do it for because of DMARC.? Since you already know HOW to do it, it would seem a simple task to allow it as a subscription option. I'm just sayin' Mike |
