Sarah,

I missed the discussion.
Click the link in the footer:

</g/GroupManagersForum/message/16185>

Then click the View All xx Messages In Topic button at the bottom.

Is there a way to do this?
No.

Help required with rejection process #settings #howto

Dear all,
I remember discussing the member rejection process a while ago, but I haven't been able to trace the original thread, so forgive me for bringing up the topic again. I am still struggling to find the best effortless way to reject a pending subscription request.
In my group most rejections are due to the pending member not sending his/her personal introduction.
I set up a member notice to be sent in case of rejection explaining the introduction thing and ticked the "active messge" box.

Various doubts:
1) Is there a way to make sure that a rejected member has been actually sent the rejection notice? Does Groups.io store this information somewhere?
2) How come that the rejection notice does not appear in the drop down Notice menu at the bottom of the message box when I write a message to a pending member?
3) As I said, in my group most rejections are due to the lack of a personal introduction, but not all of them. Is there a way to set up different rejection notices, so that moderators can choose the most appropriate one?

Hope that I made myself understood in my English.
Thank you for your help.

Marina

Archives visibility to non-members

Hi,

in my group settings it is said: "Archives are visible to subscribers only", but seems, that they are visible to non-members, too. Is that a bug or what should I change to be get them non-visible?

Thanks,

Mauno

There was a change made about a month ago - ? When you delete an event, there's now a check box at the bottom of the Verify Delete box, that is checked by default, to "Send Notice To Group" (with the hashtag #cal-cancelled.)? If you remember to uncheck the box, nothing will be sent.? What I've done on my groups is to change the hashtag named #cal-cancelled to be Moderated.? I had already done this with the #cal-invite, #cal-notice, and #cal-reminder hashtags so the groups wouldn't be bombarded with 'errors'.? This way I can just delete any of them from the pending list or allow them through, depending on which I wish to happen.? (I also created the hashtags and made them moderated on groups where they hadn't been used yet, as a preemptive measure.)

Re: special notice replies #specialnotice

Can someone verify this? I've created a couple of hashtags that are
coded as Special Notice and I did a bit of experimenting when I
originally made them and I thought I had found that replies weren't
marked as Special (which is the behavior I was looking for). However, I
could have overlooked something in the testing process.

Normally no, the reply is sent as a normal message.

If I understand correctly an exception is if the original special notice
contained a hashtag coded to make the topic a special notice. Then all
the replies are sent as special also.

I missed the discussion. Is there a way to do this? If so I have not found a way to do this in groups.io. I personally do not need this but wondering never the less in case there is a member on any of my groups who wants to know.

That it did.

Of all the variations previously discussed in beta as "anonymous" groups, yours is clearly the version where

1) Masking one's From address is voluntary by the member
2) Does not provide anonymized forwarding for off-list contact.

A similar feature is available in Yahoo Groups, but rarely enabled by the group admins.

Re: Question on group photos

InkkFreakk,

Sounds like the Emailed Photos album at work.

I want to delete all of those photos, what is the easiest and quickest
way to do that?
Note that each photo in Emailed Photos is tied to the message it arrived with (there's only one copy of the image, shown in both places). There's a blue Message button under the photo that will take you to the corresponding message.

Consequently if you delete the photo from Emailed Photos it will also disappear from the message in the Messages section. Likewise, if you delete the photo from the message, or delete the message, it will disappear from Emailed Photos.

... and now in one group I have almost 7000 and my storage is way over
the limit.
...
I don't want to store any photos in either group, I only use files in
group..
If the site will let you delete the Emailed Photos album that might do the trick, temporarily. I'd expect it to be re-created and start refilling once new messages with photos arrive.

There is an Out of Space option, in the Message Policies section of your group's Settings page, to automatically delete old attachments when the group is out of space. Given your experience perhaps a suggestion should be made that the function include Emailed Photos (actually, I thought it did, but your experience apparently contradicts that).

There have been some discussions in beta about ways to bulk delete and otherwise manage the buildup of Emailed Photos.

Question on group photos

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

When I first started my groups I quickly realized that photos build up fast, so in both of my groups I deleted what there was, then disabled photos. But it didn't stop the groups from storing them anyway and now in one group I have almost 7000 and my storage is way over the limit.

No, this can't be done.? Once you've made someone a member of a group or subgroup, they have full access to the [sub]group.

Re: Sending an Invitation

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Kenneth,

How do I invite someone to join my list?

Under Admin, click on the Invite page:

Screenshot of
          Invite Page, UL corner

On the right side of the page is a preview of the invitation email, a box for you to add custom text if you wish, and a box for you to enter the email addresses of the people you wish to invite. At the very bottom of the page is a blue
Send Invitations button to click when you have the invitation(s) set up as you want them.

Note where it says [Name] in the preview. If you provide display names along with the email addresses those will be substituted there. If you don't that will be left blank.

Also note the Sent Invitations button at the top of the page. Use it to see the status of any invitations you have sent.

To access the Admin group of buttons in the left column then you must be logged into Groups.io with the role of Moderator (with the
Invite Members permission) or Owner in this group. See the badge on the Home button, shown at the upper left of the screenshot.

There are other ways for people to join your group, depending on whether you've set it to have Restricted Membership or not.

Ask again if you have more questions.

There are no separate email commands for those.? They need to be set from the site.
