Re: saving updates to calendar
I am having a problem with this also.? I cannot edit a recurring calendar event.? It does not save the edits at all if I choose All Events?at the "Would you like to change only this event or all events in the series?" prompt.? If I choose Only This Event at the prompt, it does change the first event in the series.? So I tried then to edit each event in the series this way (by choosing Only this Event) and it will not work for any of the events after the first one. Basically there is no way to get an edit to be saved with any event after the first in the series.?
Any recent developments to address this? |

thanks for that info. Existing transfers is blank. So, perhaps yahoo is not sending the invitation?
Transfer not showing in Yahoo member list. Transfer must show in member list to be promoted to moderator. |
Re: Option to not be told that message was already approved?
Ummm... Isn't that proving my point? I send a message, rejects it and an email gets sent back to me.? You are saying that returns a 500 (email rejected) error. I'm saying that is sending a reject message. If didn't reject it, the email would never be sent.? The ESP isn't generating the email on its own. Re: Yahoo transfer

Brent,
Yahoo does not show the invitation in the yahoo activity log and groupIf you haven't, look at your "Existing Transfers" page for this transfer, found through the drop-list at the bottom of transfer instructions page. That should tell you if Groups.io has received the invitation. /yahootransfer There's often a delay between when they receive it and when they accept it because accepting it requires manual intervention (solving a CAPTCHA test). Re: Spamfilter
Duane,
... but the member's site ID is something else entirely. That can beI had been wondering about the this number. My site-wide posterid is 129 (All Posts By This Member). I wondered if that id name is literal: the 129th user to post a message, rather than the 129th user of Groups.io. However you, Duane, show 1289 for both your posterid and your profile link in GMF's Directory. So maybe the fact that that number shows for your profile link does mean that it is a user number - since in that position it couldn't depend on you having already posted a message. For those interested, you can find your own subscription (aka group member) ID in any group in the unsubscribe link in an email footer (I'm 193 in GMF, 9089 at beta). Which, by the way, is why one should always trim the footers before forwarding a group message to someone else! Re: Option to not be told that message was already approved?
Samuel,
1. Is there a way for a moderator to prevent receiving this errorI've sometimes wished there were. I think this was discussed in beta ages ago, but I'm not currently divining a search keyword unique enough to find it among all the other discussions of email and approval. It is one of the reasons I now do almost all of my groups.io approvals via web. Even on mobile, instead of replying to the email message I'll click through the (now conveniently placed) link to the site. Of course, another factor is that I'm usually in reach of WiFi, so the data exchange getting to the site is both fast and free. Especially true with the lightweight pages at groups.io. With Y!Groups I still approve by email predominantly because I don't want to wait for all their garbage (ads and tracking cookies) to load before I can do anything. 2. Wouldn't it be better if the subject line said something likeAs you already discovered, the actual email is generated by your service, in response to the failed status value given by Groups.io during delivery of your reply. So the only part of that message Groups.io can improve is the text of the status value, which is usually quoted somewhere in the body of the failure notice. Re: Option to not be told that message was already approved?
It looks like a bounce/reject message from to me. I also find them very annoying and pointless. I'd rather get nothing at all. We have multiple moderators and each one thinks they've done something incorrectly when they get those messages.. On my list, new members' posts are moderated, and as moderator I receive notification if there are pending messages. In this case, I approved the message via the web site, but then, later, when I opened my e-mail program, and I saw that message's "pending" notification, I replied to it (force of habit), but expecting nothing to happen. Looking at this again, I believe that the "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender" is not from Groups.io but from my mail provider. Approving a pending message is done by sending a message to a specific, temporary e-mail address, and I suppose that if you send multiple message to that temporary address, the address replies with an error 500: <MyGroupName+approve+1169533+1117336+7337527875915317394@groups.io>: host lb02.groups.io[173.255.221.194] said: 500 This message has already been approved or rejected. If you do put this on beta I would suggest that you include the reason that at present there is no clue about which message was undeliverable, and that as worded it could apply to something other than Groups.io, and that the change of wording would eliminate that uncertainty completely. Option to not be told that message was already approved?
Hello
When using Yahoogroups, when you approve a message via e-mail that has already been approved, nothing further happens (the message is already approved, so nothing further happens). But in Groups.io, the moderator gets a message back saying "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender" with a long explanation that ends in the revelation that this message is the result of having attempted to approve a message that has already been approved. 1. Is there a way for a moderator to prevent receiving this error message? 2. Wouldn't it be better if the subject line said something like "Thanks, but message already approved" instead of "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender"? When I get notification on my cellphone that I had received a message labelled "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender", then I assume that one of my messages didn't go through, and I give it top priority (hurry back to my computer, etc.), but this already-approved message really isn't a priority (it's just useful to know, if even). Thanks Samuel |
Re: Facebook group "integration" idea
Su,:
OK, but what is an email integration? There was a recent discussion on this in GMF at /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/29915856 and it may help. I use an email integration to receive news letters from an organisation which can then be sent out to my group.? I have a moderated hashtag assigned to the integration so that I can edit the message and remove the unsubscribe link from the bottom of incoming message before approving and posting it. Andy |
Re: Yahoo transfer

two days ago I formed a new group, upgraded to Premier, and watched my card get dinged. I have issued the invitation to transfer(at)groups.io three times. Yahoo does not show the invitation in the yahoo activity log and group io has not accepted. Any ideas?

I tried it (long ago), but stopped using it because sometimes the "Save" button doesn't light up after the download is finished (or I exit Chrome by mistake), and then I'd have to re-download all the messages, which meant that it became a bit of an effort to download more than a few hundred at a time. The app's help file says you have to be a moderator or owner of the group whose messages you want to download, but that's not necessary with either method, except that e-mail addresses get munged. If your goal is a migration to a Groups.io group keep your fingers crossed that the Easy Group Transfer </yahootransfer> mechanism is still operational when you decide to go for it.Yes, we don't know how long it will still work. Tis a pity I missed the cut-off. Samuel |

Received from Samuel Murray at 2/22/2019 11:41 AM UTC:
Is it possible for a member to "mute" replies from a specific other member? Not currently possible using features available on Groups.io, but it's trivial to do if those wanting to block someone will choose to have all email sent to their home email address and then use a filter set up in their email client to block certain "From:" addresses. Nicole, Any information you can provide as to Whitelisting by email headers, bypassing clutter and spam filtering by email header and adding @ mail servers to our SPF records would be greatly appreciated! I'm a little surprised that the department's mail administrator is asking for this information, it would already be available in the headers of messages that have been caught in his sandbox. But maybe for privacy reasons he/she's not allowed to access the content of messages caught there. Whitelisting
the as the header From domain wouldn't work reliably, as most
messages are passed through with the posting member's domain in that
header field (but this does vary by the member's email service). If you receive group messages as individual emails then you (or an affected group member) could send the administrator a copy of the full headers of an example message. That should contain the information they're asking for. How to copy the full headers of a message depends on your email service or client application. Or, send him/her this info: Received-SPF: pass (: domain of [email protected] designates 66.175.222.12 as permitted sender) client-ip=66.175.222.12; Authentication-Results: ; dkim=pass header.i=@ header.s=20140610 header.b=WfNqHW7i; spf=pass (: domain of [email protected] designates 66.175.222.12 as permitted sender) smtp.mailfrom=[email protected]; dmarc=fail (p=NONE sp=NONE dis=NONE) header.from= Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
