Adding Via Groups IO to my sender name

A few weeks ago I asked about why "Via Groups IO" was being added to my sender name and shows under from as "Loopy via Groups IO" when I send mail to my group.? Someone said it must have been my email provider that was doing that.? So I closed that email account (ZOHO) and opened a new account under GMAIL. It was all fine until about 4 or 5 days ago and once again this started being added to my sender name which leads me to believe it isn't my email account but something to do with groups io.? I've had another? gmail account that I have used for years without that problem. I hope someone can help because I don't like that being added.? Other people in the group use gmail without this issue.? Thank you in advance. Loopy |

And maybe also include in the Wiki the gist of what you said aboveDone. I had to use a screen-shot from an earlier transfer for this step, as I seem to have missed it in my most recent transfer. Possibly the screen has changed, particularly the wording of status text. If anyone knows that it has please let me know, or better yet paste in an updated screenshot. Or send the screen shot to me off-list if you don't feel comfortable editing the Wiki page. You don't copy and paste, just click on the link in the email.? That should automatically log you in to that email address account.

Cannot sign-in to my Groups.io Accounts

I am subscribed to a number of groups.io forums using my personal email accounts (Jim2_w6ivw@..., for example). I'm receiving dups, so need to unsubscribe from the appropriate account. However, I cannot log in to any of my groups.io forums.
I go to the Please Log in page, list my email address, then use "Email me a link" for a password. I copy the link in the email, and paste it in the password field. I checked the email header to verify I'm looking at the proper email. A message saying "Your email address or Password is incorrect" appears I tried opening a new account, but I'm told "Your email address or password is already registered." Suggestions? Jim |

The person will instead be sent a link to the attachment; they can click on that and (after logging in) still get it. Something to keep in mind:? Some email providers (or intermediate mail servers) may refuse to forward messages that are too big. In such a case, it's better to limit the size of attachments than it is to have a provider bounce the message. There may also be a connect-time concern for those people who might still be using dial-up connections. Finally, some people using mobile devices may want to restrict the size of attachments so they don't run up against problems with data limits (i.e.: being forced to download files they really aren't interested in). None of these concerns is nearly the problem that they once were, but please consider how your subscribers may feel about it if you choose to fiddle with their subscription settings. ? Turns out to be difficult to do that without also blocking some legit use cases, so he hasn't actually done this yet. Some one hacked into my groups.io and gmail. Had to change passwordIf that's what happened that's not spoofing. Someone else using your account is a different problem, and a much worse one, than a message pretending to be from your account when it isn't. There's nothing that Mark can do about people getting into your Gmail account, and not a lot more he's likely to do about making it difficult for people to get into your Groups.io account. Notably, if someone has gotten into your email account then your accounts at many services, possibly bank and other financial services, are likely vulnerable -- by way of password-reset commands or other identity changes operated through your email account. The only good news is that spoofing is far more likely (common) than account takeover in impersonation cases such as you describe. The bad news is that there's not much defense against it in Groups.io (or Yahoo Groups, or most other list services) where your email address is your primary identifier. Once someone gets into your email or groups.io account, it must be assumed that you're the one posting.? There's no way to tell that it's not you.

Hi,mark should put in some system, so when some one posts, and this is what happened. Some one hacked into my groups.io and gmail. Had to change password and security. Someone who was banned, pretending to be me on a group, and spoofing. Sent vile messages, and the way it was written, was not me and my style. Well to get back on some groups, had to apologize and then grovel. Even though I knew I had not written these messages, so to make peace, had to do this. So could mark put in a system, where spoofers, or a way, or a setting, so if some one spoofs a message,it gets rejected or they get locked out of their account, and a warning. Just tested this in Shalstest ... and the embedded image was convertedInteresting. I wouldn't have expected this behavior, the citation to beta notwithstanding. I can see how it could be a desirable feature in plain-text only groups that allow attachments; preserving the ability to have attached images for members who can't attach them in their email interface (or have difficulty controlling the way images are handled, or just forget). I have long wanted a group option that will strip /and discard/You could also pose it as the same control given to Attachments (Allow, Bounce, Strip, and Moderate), I think for the same reasons. I'm generally a fan of consistent interfaces (having similar things work the same way), when it makes sense. Sometimes that makes them easier to implement and document as well. I have some members who want to be notified when photos are added toThere isn't. This would clearly be desired for moderators (I also want notice of Wiki additions and changes, for example). But even members might want to be able to be notified about activity in parts of the site other than just Messages. The topic (for both mods and members) has been collectively referred to as the "notification overhaul" in beta. It has been long wanted and a long time coming. It couldn't hurt to have a few more people mention that it is desired and how they would use it. more than you wanted to know: So, yeah, on the radar reaching back three and a half years. It seems to be one of Mark's near-Sisyphean tasks. I nudge him from time to time about it, but I'm not really disappointed - I know there's a huge amount amount on his plate, from the details to the huge, and he's got to prioritize the things that build Premium and Enterprise groups. seems that would be a problem with posting via email from a iPhone it iPad the way it¡¯s nearly impossible (or not possible at all?) to attach rather than embed a file?? |

The option of notifying moderators when photos (and files) are uploaded has been mentioned on the beta group, but I don't recall seeing mention of having the option for members.? You may want to post about it over there so that Mark will see it.? Please mention that it should be an OPTION so there isn't too much discussion (hopefully ;>) about whether it should be added or not.
