Re: Delete Messages

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I had once asked support if there was a way to have all my messages deleted as I didn't want to have the messages visible to my members and I was told there wasn't.
?
If more people write to support about this issue, maybe it would become a change that will be made so we can?bulk delete messages if we wanted?to. Ilene?

If you want to delete all messages, this may be a special situation where [email protected] would be willing to help.? No guarantees, but it can't hurt to ask.? If you're just wanting to get rid of some older, possibly non-useful posts, you'll need to do it one-by-one.

Yahoo group transfer "no email" #transfer #yahoo

Edited

What happens to members of a Yahoo group that have their subscription set to "no email" when the group gets transferred to a Groups.io group that does not allow the "no email" option?

Do those members get brought over with another message delivery option? (if so what?)
Or do they not get brought over?
Or something else?

I did see in the "How to prepare" Wiki the suggestion:
Maybe change all Y!group No Email to Special Notices
What is the best way to do this? (I guess this is really a yahoo question. I did try searching online but no luck.)

Thanks!

Re: Delete Messages

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I believe you have to delete them one by one
Go to your messages and click the arrow?by the message which?brings up a drop box and select delete topic.
?
Then you will see are you sure you want to delete it and select yes.

Well, there's egg on my face.

I went looking for that update and missed it (this time). Then decided that the older post in beta must still be right.

My apologies for the misinformation in my prior reply.

Re: who gets Updates at Groups.io?

Anne,

A neighbor wants to transfer her PTA Yahoo list to groups.io and
wanted to know if all members of the group are automatically
subscribed to [email protected]
No, members copied in from a Y!Group by the transfer agent are not subscribed to the Updates group.

It also does not apply to email +subscription or Direct Add.
/g/beta/message/5447

Am I subscribed because of that status?
It doesn't have anything to do with one's status as owner or moderator of a group. It is default for people who sign up at Groups.io web site on their own, which you likely did before starting your group.

Are ordinary subscribers also sent updates?
I'm not quite sure what you mean, but the Updates group very rarely sends any messages to its members. Mark's weekly site update messages are posted there, but not sent out as email.

Yes, everyone who undergoes a transfer is automatically subscribed to Updates. However, all messages posted there are tagged with a #changelog hashtag to keep them from being sent out as emails. In that sense, no one is ever "sent an update"...subscribers?must proactively go to the updates group and read them from the message archive. Those who still find this objectionable can always unsubscribe.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

P.S. Weekly updates are also typically cross-posted both here and in the beta group.

Re: How do you get messages in your group to reply to sender? #bug

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Stephanie,

It is definitely set correctly. I've tried setting it and updating the group like 12 times.

Another place to verify the setting is on the group's home page:

Screenshot of
the Group Settings section of the home page

I'm not sure, but you may need to manually refresh the browser page after changing the setting to see the change appear.

Re: How do you get messages in your group to reply to sender? #bug

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Stephanie,

As suggested, I went next to the "to" address and clicked the little "Show Details" arrow. The?Reply-To?field goes to the group.

That definitively points the finger at the group's setting.

It seems groups.io is not setting the field correctly. Does anyone else have their groups.io group set to "Reply to Sender" and it works as intended?

I set my test group to Sender:

screenshot of group's Reply To setting

And sent a message:

screenshot
          of gmail details pop-up

As you can see, no reply-to field, which means it worked as intended.

So either there's some kind of glitch with your group at Groups.io, or I suppose the "is it plugged in?" question would be: are you sure you're adjusting the setting of the correct group?

For example, if your group has subgroups each subgroup has its own settings page.

Re: How do you get messages in your group to reply to sender? #bug

Gerald Boutin

Stephanie,

Are you referring to reply by email or reply on the web interface, or does the problem occur in both instances?

I've confirmed that the settings and behavior work as expected for me. Occasionally I have found that if a setting doesn't seem to work, changing it back and forth will get it going.

Using the web interface, reset the "Reply to" option back to "Group". Click on "Update Group" at the bottom of the page.

Select a message in the group and click on "Reply". Is "Reply to Group" selected (green)?
Discard the message.

Go?back to Settings and set the "Reply to" option to "Sender".
Check the box below for "Remove other Reply Options"
Click on "Update Group" at the bottom of the page.

Select a message in the group and click on "Reply". What option(s) are there for replying?

If the only option is "Reply to Sender", then we know that the UI is working. If not, there would appear to be a bug that needs to be reported to support.

If it is shown correctly, you should probably select a post that you made and then reply to it. Does it only go the sender now?

I also checked the behavior when reply via Gmail and although there are options for both "Reply" and "Reply to All", both only send the email to the sender.

Yes, it appears there are still problems.? One message may get through and the next one won't, so no pattern to it that I can see.? You could suggest that they read online if they want to be sure of seeing all messages.? About the only thing I can think of to tell people is to complain LOUDLY to cox.

Re: Group messages being blocked to @cox.net addresses

Does anyone know if we are still having issues with cox.net email addresses?

I have a member who is signed up for individual emails, and we have had a lot of them in one subgroup since Wednesday evening.? But - her email delivery history shows a last successful delivery on Nov 1 with a message of: 2.0.0 JKylgGj1TiO4OJKyogjvNZ mail accepted for delivery.

But her most recent unsuccessful delivery attempts shows no email deliveries.

In another subgroup where we have had less emails (but some), it shows no email deliveries in both fields.

Other than to tell her to change her email address how can I tell what is going on and how to fix it (other than to tell her to change her email address)?
Thanks
Beth

Unfortunately (?), all Settings are lumped together under "Edited Group" in the Actions box of the Activity log.? It won't tell you specifics, but you may be able to see who changed it since you have an approximate date.

Re: error with files and photos, and ATOGmoderator

You nailed it, Duane . . . many thanks.

I went to Admin>Settings>Features>Files>Permissions, then selected "Subscribers can view and upload".?

Then I did the same for Photos.

Somehow those switches were reset about three days ago.? I don't know how that happened because members could upload files and photos before the beta testing began.? And I find no record of any such settings change under Activity.? No problem now that I know how to make the fix.??

Thanks a bunch for pointing me in the right direction!

Re: How do you get messages in your group to reply to sender? #bug

As suggested, I went next to the "to" address and clicked the little "Show Details" arrow. The?Reply-To?field goes to the group. I then went to my personal gmail settings and the Default Reply behavior was not set at all. So I set it to be "Reply" and I still have the same problem. This does not appear to be an email reader problem. It seems groups.io is not setting the field correctly. Does anyone else have their groups.io group set to "Reply to Sender" and it works as intended?

Re: How do you get messages in your group to reply to sender? #bug

It is definitely set correctly. I've tried setting it and updating the group like 12 times. It is not a gmail issue, it happens to everyone in the group. Does anyone else have this problem?

Re: [email protected] not working for me

Keith,

The owner of the io group has now made me a moderator of the io group
so I thought though I would have a go again. I am trying to go through
the process ... yet when I get to the Easy Yahoo Group Transfer I am
able to type in the yahoo group details yet where it comes to the
dropdown list for groups.io there is nothing.
That's what I thought: moderator isn't good enough. The owner must make you an owner of the group, or do it him/herself.

The drop-down list is only populated with groups that you own (or co-own).
