Calendar - Reminder Notices date format
My apologies if this has been asked and answered already.
I am struggling to find where to change the date format for calendar reminders. ? I am in Australia and use the DD.MM.YY format. ?I have this selected everywhere I can find to make a selection but the reminders still arrive with the American format of MM.DD.YY which is confusing for our elderly members. Can someone please tell me if it is possible to change the reminder notices and if so where do I go to do it? Thanks in advance, Regards, Pamela |

Personally, I like the albums ordered by title, but it would be nice to be able organize the pictures in the album any way wanted. You can order the photographs within any album easily, although it can be tedious. The order is determined by initial characters, so you can preset the order by editing the photograph names to have numbers (or letters) as the start, e.g. 01, 02, or A, B, C and so on. Note the leading zero if numbers are used; if those aren't included it all goes a bit wrong, with 1 being followed by 11, at which point you have to start again. :( A start at 01 will work unless there are more than 99 photos in any album; if there are more than 99 then the first one will have to be 001, and so on. Single alphabetic initials work up to 26 (obviously!) Like I said... easy but tedious. Chris |

Thank you all. That's very helpful -- gives me the information I need to make the right decisions for our group.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýPersonally, I like the albums ordered by title, but it would be nice to be able organize the pictures in the album any way wanted. One thing I can say in Yahoo Group¡¯s defense, is they had a pretty good photo album system. ? Don ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Barbara Howard ? When looking at an album I recently posted I see that the photos are in Title order. Each time I try to change this to "Sort by taken" my instruction is ignored and "Sort by posted" appears. The default always reverts back to "Default by name" i.e. alphabetically. Sort by date taken is the best/most logical order to me. ? Thank you, ? Barbara |

Suchi,
Do we need to stop posting messages to our old Yahoo group before theIt is not a technical requirement. Will messages posted there after the start of the transfer still beAfter the transfer agent has accepted the invite, and you've promoted the agent to moderator status, you will be asked to click a button on the transfer page to give the final go-ahead for the transfer. Messages posted to the Yahoo Group after that point may or may not be transferred - it depends upon just exactly when they post versus when the agent actually copies the Y!Group's messages. If you want to be sure that all messages make it to the Groups.io group you should moderate or otherwise restrict posting in the Yahoo Group just before pushing that button. If you do this there will be some period of time (perhaps a few days) where members can't post at all (they have not yet been added to the Groups.io group, and you've restricted the Y!Group). On the other hand, if having messages and replies post promptly is more important than having the messages "on the record" in the Groups.io group then you can leave posting open in the Yahoo Group as long as you want. You could, for example wait until you receive the notice that the transfer is complete before you restrict the Yahoo Group. If you do this there will be some later posts in the Yahoo Group that aren't copied to the Groups.io group. There's no perfect recipe; you have to judge for yourself which trade-off is better, given the nature of your group. Thanks! So messages posted to Yahoo during the transfer will be migrated over?Anything posted after the transfer begins might be left behind. Just put you Y group on full moderation until the end of the transfer. Another problem is that posts to your groups.io group will be mixed into the old messages in the order they are received by the group if they are sent while the transfer is taking place. (The announcement used to be posted *before* the transfer took place.) Again, the best thing to do is put your groups.io group on full moderation until the transfer is completed. Dano BTDT |

If anyone posts to the Yahoo group after the transfer agent is done, those messages will be orphaned in the Yahoo group. At some point you should consider putting the Yahoo group on moderation so you retain some control over things like this. Whether to do so before or after the transfer is up to you.? Mark implemented this a few weeks (?) ago.? It's on the Yahoo Transfer page:
"If your group has more than 100,000 messages, we ask that you sign up for the Premium plan annual option for a year. If you don't wish to do that, we will transfer the most recent 100,000 messages in your group." Do we need to stop posting to Yahoo before transfer starts?

We have a group that I have requested to be transferred over from Yahoo to Groups.io. Still waiting for the transfer agent to accept the invite, but meanwhile, I have a quick question:
Do we need to stop posting messages to our old Yahoo group before the migration to Groups.io starts? Will messages posted there after the start of the transfer still be brought over? Suchi |
Re: How do you get messages in your group to reply to sender?
#bug
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýStephanie,I set the options for all of my groups to Reply to Sender and yet when anyone replies, or I hit Reply, it defaults to going to the whole group. "Anyone"? I wonder if that is affecting everyone or just some people (yourself included). Look at a recent message in Gmail's web interface. Next to the "to" address find the little "Show Details" arrow and click on it. That will pop up a box with details, including the Reply-To field, if any. What do your group's messages have? If that box shows a reply-to (as it does above) that reveals your group's Reply To setting.? I believe though that if the group's Reply To is set to Sender then the reply-to field will be absent from the outbound messages. In that case an email interface would normally send replies to the from address. Another possibility is that your group's setting is correct, but your email interface is defeating it. Note that Gmail has a setting which can override the default behavior: If Reply all is selected then Gmail will put both the from and the to address of the original message into the reply; causing replies to go both to the group and to the sender. Gmail is not the only interface with such an option. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: messages inadvertently sent to owner
Peter,
I often get messages that are intended as listserve posts but areI can't say "often", but I do get those from time to time. Any idea whether there is a way to set up an autoresponder to respondI don't think there is, but that's an interesting idea. One advantage of having it set up in Groups.io is that the auto response could be sent only if it is a group member that sent the message. That would avoid directing spammers and legit non-members to post to the group. It could be configured as another type of Member Notice. I often get messages that are intended as listserve posts but are inadvertently sent to the owner address. Any idea whether there is a way to set up an autoresponder to respond to them? (Something like, "You've reached the group owner. If you intended to post to the list please resend your message to xxx, otherwise sit tight and I'll get back to you.")
I can do it in gmail but I wonder if anyone has dealt with this another way. Thanks! Peter |
