Re: Printing, Forwarding, and Saving Messages
Sharon,
?
I rarely print emails, but I found a very simple way to do it if you want to print from your group page. Normally you print emails from your email client, but who wants to save tens of thousands of archived posts ... that's what io is for, right? My solution, Use Firefox as your browser. Here is an example. I opened a post via my group's page. Using the Firefox browser's very top menu line, I clicked on File ! Print Preview. You will see this type of output, which is not pretty, but there's good news ... Firefox makes it easy to clean it up. See below.
?
Enabling the Simplify Page button will strip out the menu crud showing up on the left. This is a very nifty feature of Firefox and I have no idea if it is available in other browsers, but I would not be surprised. My version of Firefox is Quantum version 63.0, which is the very latest update. Even if you don't like Firefox, you can simply keep it around only for the times you want to print and use your regular browser for all else.
?
?
I hope this helps.

I don't know if there will ever be a way to move between groups since that could get quite complicated as far as programming.? Another option that has been discussed is to be able to email yourself a copy of a message from the archive. The simplest way to perform those actions is to use the copy you get in your email to forward or save.? In the Admin | settings | message policies, set for Allow Members to Download Archives. Then SAVE. This should show a button at the top of the Topics/Messages list to Export Group Data. That gives a menu of items to export. I hope that helps, Bart Sic itur ad astra! Re: Messages/Topics
Hi Sharon, When you click on the left Menu 'Messages', the default Topics list comes up. The button at the top that Says Topics has a little drop down menu, and if you click on Messages there, the list changes to individual messages. In date order, initially. Bart Sic itur ad astra! Messages/Topics
Why does the messages list, which you access as ¡°messages¡± in the menu, say ¡°topics¡±. The list is not of topics but of individual messages.
Someone would have to search a specific topic to have a list of the messages under that topic, right? The drop down ¡°Topics¡± menu then says Messages, Expanded, and Polls. No topics. I¡¯m trying to bring more of our members into moderating and more importantly encouraging members to use more of the features. When I run into these less than intuitive features, they decide not to. The tolerance for messages being called topics, and then topics being defined as messages, expanded, and polls is very low. Has this been discussed? Are changes planned? Dave,
You don't need an Enterprise account or your own domain.? The domain mail forwarding is just a "nice to have". A Google group is your best bet.? A?separate groups.io group for board would still not allow external email to flow in unmoderated.? You really want to have external email filtered/moderated or somehow controlled to avoid/reduce spam.? The Google group will do spam filtering and notify you when it's detected.? No, unfortunately there's not a bulk "add hashtag".? I think this has been requested on the beta group, the site suggestion box.? You could bump the suggestion if you find it, or start a new topic about it.

Re: Limit on Direct Add
This is ridiculous. I am moving my group from Yahoo groups and tried the migration feature which in one and a half months never took place. So I paid the $9 subscription fee so that I could Direct Add and now it won't let me do it as I have 250 names to add. How on earth do I get this group migrated. This is so FRUSTRATING. I don't want to just add 20 people/day. that would take a month to get everyone added!!! What's the point of automation if we can't automate tasks.?

With the proper group settings, it is possible to disable hashtags entirely. As long as both extremes are still available to us, I'm trying my best to tolerate them. :-) That's my take on it. Using a new car as an analogy, I don't need to fully understand all the details of every system setting and option in order to drive my new car home from the dealer... or to the grocery store and back... or even across the country and back. But if my new car kills the engine every 30 days until I contact the dealer for a link to restart it, that's another matter. ;-) Jim H |
Bulk add of hashtags to old messages ported from Yahoo ... is this possible?
Our group has 30k + messages that are frequently searched for research purposes. It's a tremendous resource that would be made even better if typical hashtags could be retroactively added. As an example, if I could do a search on a keyword "xyz" and get a few hundred posts, is there a way to bulk add the hashtag #xyz? Thanks, Bart Sic itur ad astra! |
