Where did you tell the iPhone to remember your password and use touch id? Also, how did you get the email address to be remembered?

I was having the same problem.? On my ipad I never had to log in again but on my iPhone I did.? I went in and told my iPhone to remember the password and use touch id. Now every time I click on a link it takes me to my group but there is a little box that says use "my e-mail address", if i click on that, it then allows me to use touch id to log into groups io.? Not sure why it goes directly on my ipad but not my phone but at least I don't have to type in this info every time now.

Yes, I meant/static/help

And control F5 didn't fix it, sadly.

I've never experienced that one. You might want to try a page refresh (CTRL-F5).

#2. ?Is there a way to connect to facebook so that the posts made on groups.io appear secondarily on facebook?
In reading integrations I understand that it's the reverse that happens.
Correct -- the Facebook integration works in only one direction, and only works for public pages.

Your best bet here is probably using an rss feed. The feed address for your GIO group is the same as that of your home page with /rss appended to the end. Check your home page and -- if your group is Public -- you will find a "Feed" link under Group Information. I understand that there used to be a native Facebook interface for this but it's gone now. You might try the 3rd-party app found at??.

If your group is Private, there is no way to make it Public again. In that case you will have to find some app that will forward incoming personal emails to Facebook, get it set up and working, then subscribe that email address to the GIO group. From what I'm reading the rss feed will probably be more straightforward.

By the way, do not expect things to cross-post in real time. These feeds are shared by polling, and delays of several hours can be expected.

Hope this helps,
Bruce?

Just a quick apology for the negative comment below, it had been a long day! The 50 accounts were released at about 1.30GMT and I have had lots of positive comments about Groups.io from the subscribers. I also much appreciate this group and the quick responses and help I received from those on here.

?

Many thanks

I can understand the reasoning for this limit, it¡¯s just a shame it¡¯s not clearly and simply documented for new users, especially as I paid for the ¡°direct add¡± feature today to get the process completed more quickly and with the least amount of hassle for my members. Now a group of 50 of them, who I told in a separate email would be receiving the ¡°Welcome¡± and ¡°You¡¯ve now been added emails¡± this evening will get them, ?I don¡¯t know when.

Oh hum!

Liam -- For the past half-hour, I have been testing this using the Shalstest group.

When I have the main group set to Restricted, nothing happens with the subgroup request without Moderator intervention in the main group.

This strikes me as expected behavior. If I wanted people to be able to join the main group without Moderator intervention, I would be using some other main group setting. This is especially true if I am using my main group setting as a firewall for the subgroups. Do I really want two Pending subscriptions to show up, and have to remember to reject them both?

With the main group set to NuM only and the subgroup set to Restricted, a join request to the subgroup puts the user in the main group right away, and into Pending in the subgroup...again, as expected.

These observations suggest to me that the subscription process is working the way it's supposed to. You should be able to achieve the behavior you want by unchecking Restricted and using some other Spam Control setting in the main group.

Now I have to go back to Shalstest and set everything back the way it was. :-)

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Re: staying logged in to Groups.IO

I use Safari on my iPhone (iOS 12.0.1) and on my MacBook. I am able to Follow without having to log in.
I have set a password. i.e. I am not using a default password from "email me a link".
And I stay logged in on both devices.
Also no apps on my iPhone to prevent cookies.

Odd that your two devices won't play nicely with each other.

staying logged in to Groups.IO

Alan Robbins

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

On all my subscriptions in Groups.IO, I elect to receive the first message in each thread and then no more unless I click on the link to follow. On my PC running latest Win 1803, Jaws 2019 beta 2and Chrome, the first time I do this I need to enter my groups.IO log in and password, then click on the yes button to follow the topic. From that point on each time I do this action all I need to do is click the yes button to follow. No need to enter email and password as it keeps me logged in.

Now, here is the problem. As I often use my iPhone to check mail when not by my PC I will click on a link to follow a thread and as with the PC I need to enter my email, password, then click the yes button. However, on the iPhone using Safari, it will not keep me logged into groups.IO. Each time I want to follow a topic I need to enter my email & password rather than just clicking the yes button. Any ideas on how to stay logged in so I only need to click the yes button?

?

Best,

Al

Re: member not receiving own posts

I have Gmail and sometimes i get copies of my own emails from various groups and sometimes I don't. But per the instructions, at least with my display, I can select Account in the manner suggested but then it differs.

On the resulting page Preferences in not on a left side menu and there is no drop down menu on the left.[see attached image] Preferences is in a section on the right with a heading and a gear wheel. The heading is active. When I click on it I am taken to a page called Preferences. "Set up your account so it works for you," is at the top of the page. It's not active. [see image attached] The words "always want copies" do not appear on the page. (I don't see them and I did a word search.) There is no checkbox. Peter if you're a bit thick you have company!

I am attaching two screen caps showing what I see.

My Groups.io Calendar content continues to be displayed within my on-line Google Calendar (using laptop & Chrome), thus the URL .ics feed (as set in Google - 'Setting for other Calendar') still works okay.

This is an Account setting, not a Subscription setting.

Look for a blue pull-down menu at the far upper right, displaying either your name or your email address and a down-arrow. Click on that and select Account. On the resulting page, select Preferences from the left-side menu. The "always want copies" checkbox is near the bottom of the Preferences page. Be sure to click Update Preferences when you are done.

Hope this helps,

Peter,

Select Account from the login dropdown (top right corner)
Preferences - It's at the bottom of the page.
