Re: How do I send a password reminder message to a member

There is no option to send anything about the password to a member.? Once she uses the emailed login, she can click on her name at the upper right corner, then click Account.? On the page that opens, she should enter the password that she wants to use in the Password box, then click on Change Password beneath it.? After that, that password will work.

How do I send a password reminder message to a member

One member is unable to log in using what she believes is the password.

So she uses the email message to log in feature in order to log in every, but convinced that the password for the account is the one she tries (but fails) does not reset the password.

What would resolve this issue very easily would be to trigger a password reminder email to be sent to her.
How can this be done?

Re: Like your own post????? #wikispaces

I haven't a clue why that hashtag is on my post!

Re: Disable the Join button on the tom page

You can't disable it but you can set up a message to them to automatically tell them whatever you wish.
We vector them to our website's "Join Form" that must be completed & T& C agreed to after which we will direct add them.
Piece of cake.

Disable the Join button on the tom page

We have a restricted group and everyone is added via a Direct Add. ?Even though the Home page tells people this and in big red letters says don't use the join button...guess what, they still do!

Is there a way to "disable" the join button so it does not even appear on the Home page?

Peace,
Tom

Re: Disable Archives

I never did the hashtag thing as my groups are simple and they wouldn't know
what was going on. LOL we don't know from hashtags.
?
It was easier to just explain to the taggers in the group not to accept an
offer with the word Private in the subject line and when the taggers?make their offer to the group they need
to ask for the complete email in the request which replying from the messages do not give you.
?
Then I sent a note to the members saying they need to request via the email they received.
If they request from the messages we will know and their tag will not be made and we also need to see the
entire email in their request.
?
That seems to be working right now.

Which reminds me...

Ilene, did you ever have any luck with Tom's idea of embedding a hashtag in the Subject Tag? If so we might be able to suggest another workaround that will delete any posted topic entirely after one hour. Not exactly what we're looking for, but it's close (see screenshot for example).

In yahoo groups it can be done if that is what you are asking.
Go to Management
Control Panel
Access Control and there you can select who you want to be able to see the messages. Select Moderator's only and make sure you have the tick mark in the?selection Members cannot view/edit, only moderators can?view/edit.? ?

A yahoo list owner has contacted me regarding moving her list to groups.io. The one question she had that I could not answer was whether it was possible to completely disable archiving. Obviously, if this is possible, all members would have to communicate by email since there would be no messages maintained on the site, but apparently that had been possible at one time on yahoo. I'm unable to find this as a feature on my own groups. Does anyone here know of a way to make this happen.

Re: Disable Archives

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I can answer that because this was a question I had asked.
I wanted the archives to only be visible to owners/mods or no one.
It cannot be done at this time.?
So what I have done is have each message locked after one day or when I know there are messages there manually lock them.
?
I also advised my members in my Signature Tag groups that if they want a tag they need to request from the email they receive only by replying and we need to see the whole email in their request.
?
If they request from the message archives, they will see the word PRIVATE at the front?of the subject line and will not see the entire message they are replying to.
This way we know not to fill their request.

Yes, it was possible in Yahoo, and no, you can't do that here.

You're not the first person to ask about this. There is an ongoing thread about it in the beta group at?

The beta group is the official "suggestion box" for groups.io.

You would only need to set up one event for the weekly item, then have it repeat every week forever.? Another event for the monthly item, then repeat monthly forever.? If need be, you can make changes to an event and have the site make that change for all events.

Re: Still trying to adapt to the new group settings.

No, not at all..? You can have repeating calendar events and they are very flexible.? All of our regular announcements, weekly , bi-weekly and monthly are set up in the calendar and I haven't had to service them for well over a year.? In fact, some are 2 or more years old.?

For unique events I often set up notifications with intervals that decrease as we get closer to the actual event.

Thank you, Duane. So, I presume I have to do that for every week and every month. I'll have a go but it's a shame it can't be done in a recurring way.

The only notice type that can be automatically sent is Group Guidelines.? For anything else, I use the Calendar and create a repeating event for the necessary interval.? It won't be sent to those on No Email, but does go to the group as a message/posting.

Actually, it could be used as a mark?
to remind you to go back and either reply?
or take an action of some sort.

Oddball things like that can come in handy for personal reasons.
