Show original sender for posts via forwarded emails.
#howto
We have a small management group that receives outside posts from participants and government announcements via a subscription service. We are currently running on Google Groups. I cannot duplicate the mechanism we use in Google Groups under Groups.io. I am looking for a way to do this or an alternate approach. I want the outside participants and the subscription service to be able to send posts via email, but not do anything else in the group. I want group members to see who sent the posts. I want it simple.
For the Google Groups we set up an email address funnel@... that automatically forwards emails to ourgroup@.... An email post from fred@... sent to funnel@... shows in the group with fred@... and not funnel@.... This has worked fine for a few years. About a year ago, the government delivery service made some sort of change that screwed the subscriptions up. Now when the government sends out any notice we get unsubscribed within seconds. The delivery service does nto seem to know or care when it happening. I tried a similar setup for groups.io, but all outside posts show up as from funnel@... and fred@... doesn't show up anywhere. The group is not usable without the original sender's information. Any suggestions? Thanks |

While a bulk remove feature for messages (and their attachments) does seem
useful abd should be considered... it won't be as convenient for you as
features already available.
?
It seems to me that in your case setting your group's "Out of Space" settings
to delete old(er) attachments when the group is out of space would achieve
pretty much this same purpose with considerably less ongoing effort on your
part. It will also delete as needed... giving slightly better retention time
than if you delete something a week (or whatever) before auto delete would
have deleted it. Granted auto deletion doesn't allow for selectivity, but
when you're running out as fast as you are, you probably can't afford to be
all that selective for very long anyhow.

I wanted to pin a topic thread to the top of our page that people who want to have extraneous chat could post to...but now we have 3 topics all with the same name... Since ?I wrote them all , I know they are written exactly the same.? Other than replying to the topic, is there a way to manage this? Joan C |

Don't forget that deleting messages is pointless if you are running out of storage space because messages don't count towards your available total. OK deleting attachments will help, but not the messages themselves. Graphics are likely to guzzle storage space, and you might have to consider becoming a Premium Group (at cost) to get more, especially if you are getting close to the limit in just a month. What percentage of your space has been taken up by each of Files, Attachments and Photos? Some fairly brutal deletions might be necessary, IMHO. Chris |

No. You check the box(es) next to the member(s) and then drop down to the
"Actions" button. Click it to open a list of actions and select REMOVE to
remove all the checked members.
?
Bulk remove is if you have a list of email addresses or user names. go ahead
and click Bulk Remove - it's safe to do that - and you'll see the info it wants.

Therefore, combining sighted and blind moderator's forums is a simplification.Maybe. Maybe not. A person that doesn't use a screen reader, doesn't need to know how to skip the first 500+ words on a page, each time they approve/reject a message. For a person that uses a screen reader, knowing how to do so, can save five or more minutes, per message to be approved/rejected. A group that dealt with the issues of using a11y tools on the Groups.IO site might be useful. Not just blind list managers, but MS suffers, for example. (This group tends to use joysticks for data input.) If one is going to go the hashtag route, then hashtags for the name of the screen reader are needed. (#Jaws, #WindowEyes, #Orca, #NVDIA, etc.) Additionally: * #Perkins - Perkings Keyboard; * #Joystick - Joystick used for input; * #BrailleDisplay --- Braille Display Monitor; Maybe hashtags for the specific virtual keyboards, and/or mouse emulation software and/or voice input software would also be useful. ### I can see it now. A message with hashtags #Dragon #JAWS #Blind, but no hashtag for the specific problem. jonathon |

This is insane! Google is saying they can't determine whether the email came from your account, but then go on to say the real sender does not have access to your account. How do they know if they don't know? They're using spam detection methods that should have died in the late 90s and making it up as they go along.

It seems to me that you're getting this only because it appears to be from you. I'd just ignore it... because your chance of talking to anyone at Google (Yahoo, Hotmail, etc) is about zero... or add a second non-Google address to your account and post group notices from there. Then - at least as far as Google can see - you're not sending to yourself. Jim H Received from Nelson Vergel at 8/16/2018 03:23 PM UTC: Hello everyone |
