Re: Google thinks I am a spammer when I send group notices #spam

Nelson,

I am the manager of pozhealth and I am getting this warning from
Google when I post a group notice.
Interesting. I don't think I've seen that on any of my own posts. Or if so it was years ago.

What can I do to let Google know I am not a spammer?
Usually Gmail shows a warning like that there will be a line of text and links beneath name and date and above the message content (when previewed and opened). That would normally contain a link to reassure Google about the message.

Look also in the row of buttons above the list of messages. When looking at the Inbox one of those is normally an octagon with an exclamation point in it, to mark the message as spam. When looking at this message perhaps it changes to a "not spam" button?

If not, maybe the Help icon (circled question mark) in the lower right will tell you what to do to mark your messages as Not Spam.

The Links functionality of Yahoo Groups does not exist as such. If you had a Links section in Y!G, those same links should have been transferred; and will appear as a Database table, which does pretty much the same thing.

Or you might want a wiki page. The wiki editor is capable of creating hyperlinks to any web resource using the "insert/edit link" item on the toolbar. You can do the same with your group's home page, if you want.

You can also insert links into a message using the message editor. If you subsequently make that message "sticky," it will appear at the top of all the messages online and remain there, readily available.

If you want to place an HTML file with resource links in the Files area, you will have to create that with an HTML editor on your PC and upload it to your group.

Or I could be totally misunderstanding you. More information, please!

Re: Change in order of how messages are presented

Beth,

All of a sudden when I look at messages online the display order has
changed for me (in multiple groups including this one).
... Where is this set please?
At the top right of the page full of messages, click the word "Date" to flip the order. The arrow to the right of the word shows the current direction (pointing up is oldest first).

As you've seen, that choice goes with you as you navigate, there is no separate setting or option.

Click on the "Date" hyperlink at upper right to toggle the sort order (ascending/descending).

Hope this helps,

It definitely has something to do with the issue Mark mentioned.

Both Invite and Direct Add were down completely for about 12 hours. Any recent invitation that doesn't appear on the "Sent Invitations" screen will likely need to be sent again.

Invite question

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi,

do I get a ¡°sent invitations¡± notice immediately after sending the invitation? Or do I only see it after the invitees has accepted the invitation?

I?m asking because after sending an invitation yesterday there is no notice at all. Which makes it difficult to verify if the mail was received or not.

Re: Deferred - 452 4.1.1 Too much mail from this address E2210

Dellaina,

I've been trying to invite someone and from the very first attempt,
their email keeps getting returned with the following message:

Deferred - 452 4.1.1 Too much mail from this address E2210
As Bruce and Frances have said, this has cropped up before.

I have a slightly different take on it, I don't think that the service is necessarily running out of capacity, but rather that "this address" is referring to Groups.io as a sender. So a rate limit is being applied on the suspicion that Groups.io is sending spam.

If I'm right what has to happen is that the service needs to recognize Groups.io as a mail list service and remove the rate limiting (or apply a much higher one, appropriate to a mailing list service).

How to make that happen though is unknown. I know that Mark at Groups.io does his best to track down deliverability problems, contacting the receiving services as necessary. But maybe a word to the service's technical support from their own users would help.

Re: A member of my GROUP removed

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hello Jim H

THANKS much for that, your,? additional valued input!? Now I know WHY my member got a notice that his email addy was "still in use on site"? even tho he was no longer listed in the membership list !! ?

I sent said member a personal private? email? heads up alert to look in his AOL inbox (or, heh SPAM box) for the G.io RESUB email and respond to it within that 3 days.? Its in his hands to take care of that now. Thankfully his is the ONLY problem so far that my group has had on this APM / rejection issue.

That "already in use" message doesn't seem too surprising to me if the member
is still within the 3-day period during which he can click a link and be
reinstated. I'd guess - emphasis on GUESS - that Gio is "reserving" that
address... at least during the 3-day reinstatement period.

Hello again Shal

THANKS also for the specific heads up info and advice.? Much appreciated !! Perhaps that software glitch via Mark F was the "INVITE fail issue earlier today (Wednesday) . I just gave up and sent my member a standard personal email 'heads up" of the issue and my suggestions.? And Phone Called him also.

I truly APPRECIATE the feedback from you and the other member-responses to my message -- thank you all !

Perhaps if you wonder what my "NYC Transit Modelers Group"? is about - check out my NY CITY?MODEL TRANSIT SYSTEM (operating Layout)? FLICKR PHOTOS WEBSITE site to see some amazing hand built scale modeling work I do -- link below? (also see and check the 'ALBUMS' & 'FAVORITES' tab links on the page header)?

And "this" is what a number of other members of my NYC Transit Modelers Group (forum) also do in various model scales of N, HO, O, S and 1/2" model railroad scales.? Since we started the group back in 2001. And they have their own photo albums on our NYCTMG Group ALBUMS page.

Joe,

?> ... I just joined Groups Managers Forum and found this already --
?> seems its a big problem ...

It is an on-going problem with certain email services. Members using
those services need to be vigilant, that's about all we can suggest.

As to the points you raised with support,

(a) I don't see why sending the former member an Invite didn't work. I
know of at least one group owner who routinely uses Direct Add to put
the removed members back.

Maybe your case had something to do with the general site issues that
cropped up last night.

(b) Maybe also the site problems, but maybe by "register" he tried to
sign up for a new Groups.io account (rather than just re-join your
group). His account would not have been removed, only the subscription
to your group.

?> ... and a Retribution Nuisance NASTY caused by Verizon/OATH towards
?> Groups.io for all the groups leaving Yahoo (as I did) for groups.io.

I really don't think the FBL issue has anything to do with groups
migrating to Groups.io, or with Groups.io at all. I really don't think
anyone at Verizon/Oath is paying enough attention to Yahoo Groups to
have even noticed. But that's just my opinion.

Note too that some of the email services on our list of troublesome
services aren't owned by Verizon.

?> Mainly to Yahoo or AOL email users to DO NOT sign the "OATH PLEDGE
for > T.O.S. (terms of service)

I think ultimately you either go with it, or you stop using their
services. I'm still using Yahoo Groups so I've accepted the new TOS, but
that's a personal choice.

?> I sent a private email to my affected member alerting him to look for

Good, hopefully he will.

I don't think the event reminder code parses the Event Name field for hashtags. But I could be wrong.

Try putting the hashtag first or last [instead of in the middle] and see if that helps.

User hashtags in calendar Event Names

New to groups.io as a manager and liking very much the tools I see after being on Yahoo.

Our group calendar is filling up with many weekly repeating events, all with reminders sent as normal messages. I want to use hashtags so members can mute repeating events that don't interest them.? My first attempt was creating an event with this Event Name:

Concert Saturday at #LaJacaranda, P¨¢tzcuaro

At the appropriate time, the reminder email appeared with this subject line:

[The Michoacan Net] Concert Saturday at #LaJacaranda, P¨¢tzcuaro - Sat, 8/18/18 8:00pm-10:00pm #cal-reminder

The bottom of the message contained the expected "Mute #cal-reminder", but not "Mute #lajacaranda", which was the option I wanted to give our members.? However, "#lajacaranda" does show up in the group's Hashtag page.

What am I doing wrong?? I want the system to generate a subject line that says:

[The Michoacan Net] Concert Saturday at #LaJacaranda, P¨¢tzcuaro - Sat, 8/18/18 8:00pm-10:00pm #lajacaranda #cal-reminder

Thanks for any advice,
Mark

Some mail providers don't have adequate server capacity to handle the volume of email originating from services like groups.io. Instead of paying money to increase capacity, they throttle back the amount of email passing through based on IP address and other filtering techniques.

Looking at the GMF archive, this behavior has previously be reported from charter.net and rr.com. Could your subscriber using one of these services? If so, the problem with likely recur every now and then.

The flippant [yet most effective] answer to the problem is to get a better email provider.?See?this thread?for a recent discussion on this topic.

Hope this helps,
