A member in one of my groups is having email delivery problems (a comcast address). If I understand correctly, the account is bouncing? Check for the B status badge in the member's list. Without a bounce error code, this is hard to troubleshoot. This could be a temporary email server connectivity issue that will resolve itself soon. It sounds like you can email them directly, so it may be an intermediate server between GIO and comcast. Otherwise, I would try changing to a different message delivery option. I've found that the plain-text digest is the option most likely to get through, but I generally recommend that for "marked as spam" issues, not bouncing issues. If even that doesn't work, it's time for your subscriber to complain to comcast. At a minimum, they should be able to provide the error code. Re: Diferent 'status/privileges' based upon how a group is accessed?
Chrome's "incognito mode" doesn't recognize cookies, and you would find yourself logged out. Could it be that Method 1 opens an incognito browser window? Look for the little spy icon in upper left.
Also look for the "Your Groups" pull-down?menu on the blue menu bar at the top of the page. If it isn't there, you aren't logged in. Finally, some groups allow non-members to post; such posts are always moderated. Check to see if the posts you make using Method 1 are moderated; if so, that's a third big clue that you aren't logged in. Hope this helps, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |

Are you sure that you only have one groupsio account? That might explain the situation. I've been taught that when there is something strange going on in a browser to "clear your cache and cookies". However, clearing cookies usually means having to do a bunch of stuff over again, so before doing that,?I would suggest that you try logging out of groupsio. Then try one of the methods and log back in. Now, try the other method and see if you have consistency. If that didn't work, then I'd try the clearing cache & cookies route.? --? Joining in subgroup without waiting for approving parent group

When user wants to join tio subgroup he is instructed he has to join parent group first. If parent group requires approving that means he has to join parent, wait to be approved, then join subgroup and again wait to be approved.
This leads to people giving up joining groups for too much hassle. it would be good, it user want so join subgroup he is instructed that it means he will be also join parent group and then do all process in single iteration. After all use cannot avoid joining parent group to, so why wasting his time in double process? |

I am having difficulty finding the "sensitive spot" on the "Edit" button within the colored field of a #Hashtag. ?I can see the color change slightly while hovering my pointer over the button but it usually switches to "message" and not the edit hashtag menu. ?Is it possible to make this button easier to hit - bigger - more positive to the action of selecting "edit"?? ?

Diferent 'status/privileges' based upon how a group is accessed?
Hi,
? I have a "puzzlement".? Let me preface by saying that I'm a groups.io owner for several groups, a moderator for other groups, and a regular member for as many others and more.? About 30 in total. ? So I have two different ways to access a group that I'm a simple member of and I have different rights/permissions depending upon which way I get into the group online.? I use Chrome for my browser and Win 10 (1803) if either of these matter. ? 1) Method one - I go to groups.io thru a bookmark to all of ? ? ? my groups.? When I do that I do not have 'rights' to add ? ? ? either Photos or Files but I can post messages. ? 2) Method two -? I have a saved bookmark that takes me ? ? ? directly to the same group.? When I do that I have all ? ? ? rights (I can post, add Photos/albums, and Files. ? I asked the group owner.? I am a regular member with normal privileges. ? ===> So can ANY one explain this and tell me how to ? ? ? ? ? ? get it fixed (other than the obivious 'just use the ? ? ? ? ? ? one that works') ... ??? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? - Jim B. |

Subgroups & Posting
Checking a setting. I want members of the main group to be able to post to subgroups even if they are not subscribed to receive messages from the subgroup. For example forwarding a message to a team they may not be on.
But I don¡¯t want the general public to be able to post. So if I check non-subscribers can post in the subgroup, I know the main group members can post. Anyone else? Sharon ---- Sharon Villines [email protected] |

Bruce, Duane,
Thanx for your clarifications. That's what I needed to know. As I become more familiar with the workings of Groups.io I'll become less of a pesky questioner. I'm also on-board with not conacting/inviting the unsubscribed masses; if they want to come back they'll whine at our Mods, fer sure! Otherwise let sleeping dogs lie. Cheers! Paul M. CRL Owner == |

Re: Unsubscribing or Unsubscribed Members after Transfer . . .

I agree with Duane. If the email address isn't valid, it will show up as bouncing, not unsubscribed, as soon as a few messages go out. Look for a B badge in the member's list. And you'll probably get a lot of them, too.
Transferring our group was a good opportunity to purge (or self-purge) people who simply were not participating. You can try to send them new invitations, or contact them individually, if you want. But experience has shown that most of those who leave now should have unsubbed from your Yahoo group a long time ago. Re: Unsubscribing or Unsubscribed Members after Transfer . . .
#membership
It's assumed that if a member got transferred (not bouncing on Y!), it was a valid email address, so no confirmation was needed.? If it's not and causes bouncing, that won't cause them to be unsubscribed, only an indication on their membership.? I'd say if they've unsubscribed, it was their doing.

Re: Muting a member
Not currently.? There was some discussion on the beta group some time back about having an ignore function, but I'm not sure if it's even on the possibilities list, let alone the TODO list.

Unsubscribing or Unsubscribed Members after Transfer . . .
#membership
Shal, Bruce,
How can we tell the difference between email alerts about Unsubscribing or Unsubscribed Members which tend to start proliferating right after a Transfer? That is, more specifically, to mean: 1] those who choose to Unsubsubscribe of their own volition VS 2] those who are Unsubacribed because their email is no longer valid. Is the text of those email notifications for these two different scenarios in any way different? (I cannot see a difference.) I ask because we have already received a couple hundred emails saying a member has left our group and we cannot tell for which reason. However those two kinds listed above [1,2] are not to be confused with some of the emails saying the member has likely been unsubscribed due to deleting an IO email marked as spam; those emails have a distinct text. Any light you can shed on this will be appreciated. Cheers! Paul M. CRL Owner == |
