Re: Disable Digest Option
Digest is a member selectable option - it's under the control of the member - not the moderator(s).
? I don't even understand why you would want to do that.? If you have an important message that needs to go out "now" ... send it as a Special Notice. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?- Jim B. |

Re: Transfer Successful - Took 10 Days
There was about a one day suspension in transfers last week when Yahoo Groups' CAPTCHA mechanism was not working. As of Thursday the 17th transfers have resumed, with about a two-week backlog.

Please reframe or restate it and I'll try to answer.? What do you mean by "the system provided by Groups.io"?Sorry for the delay in responding; we have been out. I wouldn't have commented at all had you not added the line about the KISS Principle. Given that the notifications to Moderators that exist within the Groups.io system, and the ability to examine Moderator activity via the Activity Log I simply don't see what benefits having another "Moderators' email address" confers on the Owner & Moderators. I agree with Bruce about having suitable mechanisms for "disaster recovery", but as far as I can see the two concepts aren't connected. My views may, of course, be affected by having to deal with Group Members who have more than one account (something we try to discourage for other reasons) and then get themselves into a tangle when they try to use one membership by logging into the other and the like, or try to edit the Display Name on one account and finish up changing the other and so on. Re: Download group messages for offline reserach?
#export
Go to Admin > Settings and select the Export Group Data button at the top.? From there, you can choose which parts you want to download.? The site will create a zip file containing your choices and send you an email with the download link you when it's ready.

Re: Disable Digest Option
None that I'm aware of.? The delivery selections are up to the individual members.? If you don't already have it set, under Admin > Settings, you can select the Default Sub Settings tab and set it so that new members start with whatever you prefer, but they can always change it later.

Transfer Successful - Took 10 Days
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI just wanted to report a couple of my groups have already successfully been transferred. The process worked as expected for me. It took 10 days from start to finish. ? I put in the request on May 10th to transfer from YahooGroups. ? Yesterday I got an email stating groupsio <[email protected]> joined my YahooGroups. I also received an email from Easy Group Transfer instructing me to make this new member a moderator. I did that. ? Today I got an email confirming my messages were transferred from YahooGroups to Groups.io. ? I confirmed the messages all transferred as expected. Super! Now to delete my YahooGroups. So long YahooGroups!! ? Pam Erickson |

Re: Photo size reduction
I believe the nearest choice is actually 1024x1024.? There shouldn't be any problem increasing that after the transfer, it will just use up space faster.? If you haven't already, try uploading a few photos using different settings for the limits.? You may find that the upload size isn't as important as some people think.? I've got a couple of my groups set to 312x312 and we haven't missed anything yet.? Actual displayed size on a 19" computer screen is about 720x720.

Photo size reduction
Mike Conder
So now that or group is in the transfer queue, our photo archive is too big for the free 1 GB ... we're at 1.8 GB.? The transfer agent says we can cut that down to about 300 MB if we reduce photo size to 1080x1080.? We're OK with that for the old photos but not necessarily Ok for new photos.
But an idea is to set photo size to the 1080 for the transfer, then? once the transfer is completed we reset the settings to allow larger photo for new photos.? Question is, will that work? Want to be sure before we do this. TIA, Mike Conder |

I don't know how well it would it would integrate with the services your current email delivery partner provides. My suggestion is to make of each and everything that your email delivery partner provides, that you either currently use, or wish that they provided, and see how many of them are currently available through Groups.IO, with an Enterprise Subscription. For each and every item that is not available from Groups.IO, file an RFE, explaining what the item is, how your organization uses/will use it, and how it benefits both Groups.IO and you. jonathon |

Re: New member: question about Group owner email address
Michael,
I'm owner and chief moderator for a 750-member group with a total of five moderators.? We draw up an annual schedule and each moderator takes a shift of two weeks or a month at a time--so we have a "duty moderator" and a backup on duty at all times.? That means each moderator has about 10 weeks on duty as moderator and another 10 as backup, not at all burdensome. To keep group management simple, we created a single Gmail account for all five moderators to use.? For example, if our group were named ABC the email address would be ABCmoderator@....? About 99% of our moderator work is done using that Gmail account, and that means any time there's a question about what was/was not done by another moderator, the duty moderator can look back at past emails and sort out exactly what happened with only occasional need to ask other moderators for help.? Having that Gmail?account for our multi-moderator group has simplified our?moderator lives and has been a godsend. KISS (keep it simple, stupid!) works great for us! Milt Baker P.S.? I added a group_management hashtag to this post hoping other moderators will pass along useful group management tips.? As this forum shows, there's a lot we moderators can learn from one another. |

Re: Transfer requirement
Anyone that can make [email protected] a moderator on the Yahoo group can do a transfer.? It looks like you need to be the group owner here, based on the instructions.
