When I am just a member why doesn't the group I belong to show up in "My groups"

Dear all,

This is probably an elementary question, but it's important to me. I have long belonged to yahoo groups where I am not the moderator or owner :). One of these is BookerPrize@...?now [email protected],? I just received the notification that the Booker Prize people have moved and I logged in.

But when I go over to My groups all I see are the three I am owner/moderator of, beta, group managers forum. Why do I not see the one where I am simply a member. Do I have to do something to have the groups I belong to without being a moderator or member show up on My Groups?

One of my members is bouncing and if I look at their history, I see this:

what does this mean and how can it be fixed?

Such html is stripped to keep it from becoming a vector for malware.

You could,? of course, include a screenshot of the map image the link represents.

Open your group, then click on "Subscription" on the left followed by "Advanced Preferences" about halfway down the page.?

Re: Integration with copying messages to subgroup #integration #subgroups

Pedja,

I would like to copy messages from Yahoo to specific subgroup instead of main group. I want members from Yahoo to be copied as members of main group. Is that possible?

Yes.

When you set up the transfer select the subgroup as the destination. The members will be added to both the subgroup and the primary group.

If you don't include the members in the transfer to the subgroup their content will end? up "orphaned" - attributed to your account rather than theirs.

First off, in groups.io, your email address IS your user ID. There is no separate user identifier. Merging means you want to use the "to" account, and delete the "from" account. Otherwise you would just keep the two accounts and not merge them, right?

It's also always a good idea to set up at least two owners for every group to troubleshoot such situations. This could be either a trusted individual, or a second email address for yourself (preferably the former). A Moderator cannot reinstate your group ownership, only an Owner can.

Not trying to hit you when you're down, just helping you to understand what these things means so we don't have a repeat. Having said all that...

If you are the last owner of a group, groups.io *should* have kept you from deleting the account. I know that this safeguard is in place for normal account deletion, but if that safeguard can be circumvented by account merging, that sounds to me like a system bug.

The best I can suggest to you at this point it to try to log in under your GMail account and see if that gets you back to your group as an owner. If not (and it probably won't), send a message to [email protected]?explaining the situation and suggesting that the same safeguard be put in place for account merging as it is for deletion.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Is there a way to embed iframe or map inside a post

Hi,

The members of our group really want to be able to embed a Google map inside a post, I tried iframe but that didn't work.
Is there a way to do so? the requirement is for the map to be interactive when shown in the post.

On this group, all posts are moderated, so that delay also includes the 'dead zone' until it was approved at 4:24. That can vary greatly, depending on how long it takes for a moderator to approve it.

Following Only & First Message Also

I tried searching for an answer to my question, but couldn't find it in any posts.? So, any insight would be helpful.

If a member has "Following Only" & "First Message Also" selected in the Advanced Preferences AND there has been replies to the topic prior to this member choosing to "Follow this topic", will they receive the existing (past) replies?? Or will they only get any new (future) replies?

Re: Members receiving post at different times

Paula,
We haven't heard back from you so maybe you and the other members figured something out.? If so, be nice to know what that was if you'd be willing to share.??
I will mention that, if everyone had Individual Messages set and some did not receive a post in a "timely" fashion, the email is handled asynchronously on a best effort basis.? Once groups.io has passed it on to the recipient's email server, it's out of the picture and only by tracing the headers can you learn where it went and how long it took.? There is no guarantee of delivery in a certain time.? If groups.io encountered an error in sending, it would log that error as a bounce report.
Now, to investigate the "slow" emails, you can use a header analyzer tool which Google has made available (for anyone).? Info here ->?
You need to get the original source document of the received email with headers (Show Original in Gmail) and paste that text into the .
For example, the email I got from your original post to the GMF took 15 minutes.

Created at: 5/14/2018, 4:09:38 PM CDT ( Delivered after 15 mins )
# Delay From?* ? ? To?* Protocol Time received ?
0 15 mins web01.groups.io ¡ú ? pb-mx13.pobox.com 5/14/2018, 4:24:23 PM CDT
So, in this case, at that specific time, there was a 15 minute delay from when you posted/sent the message to when groups.io processed that post and sent to the group.
[Having researched this, I'll add it to the GMF wiki]

You mentioned that your group does "daily discussions led by a panelist" - this sounds like Chat might work better if you want a more real-time discussion at a specific time.

Thanks
Toby

Re: Multiple invitations not received #membership

Chris, to designate my response to your questions, I'm using all caps. I didn't want you to think I was yelling at you. :)

However, there is one lady who did not receive the personal invitation I sent her. I sent another, but she did not receive that one either. She has checked her spam folders, etc.
This might be classified as a silly question but how do you know she didn't? Have you used an alternative email address to contact her??

SHE SENT ME A PRIVATE EMAIL, LETTING ME KNOW THAT SHE HAD NOT BEEN TRANSFERRED. I SENT HER AN INVITATION FROM THE INVITATION SECTION OF GROUPS.IO TO THE ADDRESS SHE HAD ON OUR YAHOO GROUP.

I have sent her the link to finding our group on groups.io; hopefully that will work.

Was that sent from your Owner / Moderator's address or from a different one?

IF I AM UNDERSTANDING YOUR QUESTION, IT WAS SENT FROM THE EMAIL I USE AS THE MODERATOR OF THE GROUP.

?

Is there some reason that she might not have received either of the invitations?

Is she listed an a "bouncing member" for some reason?

SHE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH OUR YAHOO GROUP AND I COULDN'T FIND HER ANYWHERE IN OUR GROUPS.IO MEMBERSHIP.
