Re: Where do I go to suggest change?

The beta group is the official suggestion box for the site, ? That's where you make a suggestion for an improvement or additional features.

Mark quite often posts there when he is working on a specific area/feature/function and needs feedback on it.

Re: closing out a poll

Locking the topic doesn't close the poll, folks can still vote.? In order to close it, you go to the poll, then Edit Poll, then select Close Poll below it.

Re: Transfer queue wait time

Hi,

I recently completed 2 transfers so have some recent experience here.
There are some manual steps that are needed to be completed by one person (Mark).
There is a backlog of requests, somewhere around 300-400 but there is no transfer queue page that gives you visibility to where you are in the queue.
I would allow 2 weeks for your request to get to the top of the queue.
Once Mark picks your group up for transfer it happens quickly. You will get a email requesting you make the groups.io email a moderator on your group and then you click a button in the email and it will happen in 24 hours.

YMMV

Subject: [GMF] Inline (embedded) images via web interface #images

?

HI,

When I create or reply to a topic by sending an email and I have inline (embedded) images in the email I send, those images show up inline on the Web interface as well as in the emails members receive which is exactly how it should be.??

My question is how do i insert an inline graphic when creating a new topic or replying to an old one using the Web Interface?

thanks -- Dan

Why not a banner saying "SYSTEM MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS" instead of cats?

I knew about the down time so sent a special notice to my groups letting them know about the down time. I hope hey remembered as I was asleep when it happened.

Indeed there was, but from a poll on "my" Group it is only a minority of users who use the web interface "regularly"; the majority (78%) never use the web interface or only do so "occasionally". If this is typical across all groups then the greater majority would have had no warning of the break in service. In some respects it becomes a case of leading the horse to water but being unable to force it to drink...

I AM COMPLETELY LOST

I am willing to make a PayPal donation. I know virtually nothing about the terminology used on this site. I can tell that this? site DOES have the information I would like have. Hopefuilly someone can direct me to the information I need. My problem:? I am? being driven crazy with the amount of robocalls and similar. Changing my number does very little good. My idea: Find an exchange in Colorado that is a NEW exchange and hence would probably have the great majority of numbers in the "never used" category. Verizon said I could change my number to anything I wish. Which page on this site do I go to that will show NEW exchanges started within the last 90- days oir so. Area Code should be 970. Any help would be MOST appreciated. This situation is truly maddening and I am hoping and praying for some sort of relief from these robocaller jerks. Can you help me?

Where do I go to suggest change?

Hi,

I know this is a group of volunteers and not the folks to manage the Groups.IO software, but where do I go to make a suggestion?

thanks

Generally agree, but the mechanism to do so is unclear. Note also the recent thread in beta from a group owner who doesn't want his members enrolled in the Updates group, because it amounts to over-communicating system issues.

Unfortunately, making everybody happy does not seem to be an achievable goal.

Emails. I think it's probably a mute of topic tester than hashtag, but I can't tell. If I could see it in the activity log...

If reviewing and approving messages/users is something that you don't do, simply turn off that notification in your Subscription settings ("Email when there are messages needing approval", "Email when there are members needing approval", etc.).

Even then, the recipient could set up an email filter. You're trying to control something that is not in your control anyway.

Re: Down for Maintenance Notice

Duane,

?

What a regional time perspective that would be. My group is world-wide. 5am PST is 8am EST is 1pm in Europe.

?

I don¡¯t do anything group-posting-wise online and very few of my members do. If they did they¡¯d be on FB. I had two of my late night Emails just disappear last night and now I guess I understand why. Luckily they were important-ish so this morning when I didn¡¯t see them I re-posted. Many of my members would be nonplussed for that to happen and be asking me ¡°How Cum??¡±.

IO is much more stable than YahooGroups and I thought he was much more sensitive to his customers than YahooGroups but his going on vacation without a clear ¡°I¡¯ll be back by this date and caught up to the backlog my vacation created by this date¡± message and now scheduled maintenance without informing at least all the owners says he¡¯s not as sensitive as I thought. I¡¯ll just need to adjust my expectations of him. Both of these events were basic A-B-C management skills. But then he appears to be a very talented software programmer, not a manager. Being a sole-ownership I hope that doesn¡¯t bite me in the longer term.

I wouldn't want an email about it.? I do everything online and was well aware of this downtime.? I don't want more unnecessary email, so I'd want a way to disable it.

I suspect that part of it is the fact that it happened at 5 am PDT, so there may not have been an expectation that many people would notice.
