Accessibility Features of Groups.io
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi all.? I am a blind moderator of the [email protected] list, and I¡¯m not finding a way to list/download the entire members list.? The Directory only shows me 3 of the 209 members, and no download or expansion button shows up so that I can get at the rest of the list.? Does anyone know well how to get keyboard access to such features?? As a screen reader user I have absolutely no access to the mouse.? Any help will be appreciated.? ? Thx, Albert ? *** ? Albert A. Now if I could figure out how to stop Yahoo from sending our outdated guidelines, lol.Well Nancy, naturally you have to go to Y* and adjust them. Go Management/ Control Panel/ Notifications and I believe the lead welcome and other scheduled emails are there. Disable or delete them. I personally don't use either with a high-focus group that doesn't need 'reminders', regards davew |

I haven¡¯t been able to get that far. I try to invite [email protected] to my group and I get an invalid email address error. It can¡¯t be this hard, can it?

Re: Bounced Emails
Go to Admin->Members, find and open his subscriber record, and check his Email Delivery History (button at the top of the page). That should show which message(s) were bouncing and along with an explanatory error code. Mail can bounce for any number of reasons. More information on this than you'll probably ever want to know can be found in the system help (/static/help#bouncing). If his service provider is truly bouncing incoming email because his inbox is full, the only (and obvious) fix is to have him delete some messages.?
I have no explanation as to why he might be receiving dupes. Hope this helps, Bruce |

Bounced Emails
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi all.? I¡¯ve received this from one of our participants and I¡¯m not sure how to respond to him.? Do we have some settings on our group that could be altered so this doesn¡¯t happen?? Are there limits, and if so what are they?? ? Thx, Albert ? Albert, I just had an email to say that some of my GTT emails had bounced back because my account was full.? I followed instructions and got a message that I¡¯ve been ¡°unbounced.¡±? Any thoughts about what would cause this?? Of course, traffic on this group is very high but by dint of checking a few times each day I do clear the emails.? Also, as just now, I received your and Jean¡¯s emails twice, the first time with quotation marks around your names.? That¡¯s happened before, no idea why. ? Don |

Re: Members not getting emails - including me (owner/moderator)
Thanks, Bruce. (I'm actually a Bruce, too)
I won't begin to explain the confluence of weird things that happened to each of the people who were test cases -- but suffice it to say, the issue was not with the Groups.io platform and I'm confident it is working correctly. I just have some other tweaks I have to advise others to do. So, this is a closed issue for this group and thanks for the input. |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks Duane, ? Was informed it could take a day or two so with all the issues taking place with Yahoo, wasn¡¯t certain that request (invite) actually went through after several? days assumed Yahoo failed to send invite and re did it.? From the info in the instructions, not clear that this wasn¡¯t an automated process and thus expectations of a short time frame was gotten.? Later in this forum (different thread) was informed that a live person manual step was involved and that person was away till May 2nd.? ? May be helpful to future users of this feature that in step 3 of your Yahoo Instructions, add some text explaining that this is a live person manual step and that it may take 2 to 5 days (or whatever the number is) to complete due to high volumes. ? Thanks for explaining the situation.? 400 - even with duplicates is surprisingly large number.? I guess Yahoo being unable to send or receive posts via email for nearly 2 weeks for many groups tipped many owners/moderators over the edge (me included). ? Have a good day ? Dan ? Re: UPDATE: My Owner/Moderator Status changed to Member Status . . . .
Well Shal,
Time now for me to eat some crow! This mornng I received a New Subscriber email message which was sent this time to my Gmail addy. Checked around further and found that I had, after all, saved my original CRL User Name and password under a Gmail addy. I was able to sign in and via that route I am finally being recognized as Owner of the group. (I had been trying signing in wth Gmail but using a password which I very often will use but it was the wrong one for my membershsip with the Gmail addy so I kept being denied Owner access.) Also while I was logged in as the original Owner I made my other member ID ¨Cthe one which has the AOL addy¨C an Owner, too. So now what I should have done to begin with as a CYA for this sort of thing is now firmly in place, thanx to Y'all's advice. (And if it isn't being encouraged, then making someone else a back-up owner for one's new group should be an up-front suggestion for everyone who's setting up a new one.) This has all definitely been a hands-on learning experience for me which I would not have unraveled without the comments and suggestions which you and several others had provided me! Regards, Paul Mitchell CRL Owner (again, at last!) == |
