Go to Admin->Settings->Message Policies and uncheck the box that says "Remove other reply options." Be sure to save.

Re: Gmail apps alias unable to send

Michael,

I did not set an alias for littlejack on , it's an alias in Gmail. Gmail should send the mail as having come from littlejack@... so the expectation is that it would have bounced.

Oh... Interesting.

I've successfully used Gmail's Send mail as feature to send mail as the -owner address of one of my Yahoo groups. And I know that comes out right because I generally cc the messages to the -owner address as well.

Maybe it works differently (or, doesn't work) if you are trying to "spoof" another Gmail address. But then they ought to tell you that when you try to set it up, or at worst when you try to use it. I know back when I had Verizon as my ISP email they wouldn't let me send mail as another Verizon address, but they were perfectly fine with letting me spoof a group's -owner address or any address that wasn't .

So it sounds like the issue is Google. I'll work on that next.

Thanks for all of your help troubleshooting! :)

No problem. It has been interesting. I wonder what you'll find.

Re: Gmail apps alias unable to send

Ah, but it didn't work as expected. I did not set an alias for littlejack on , it's an alias in Gmail. Gmail should send the mail as having come from littlejack@... so the expectation is that it would have bounced. However, gmail must be sending it as coming from mbergen or else it wouldn't have been accepted to this group.

So it sounds like the issue is Google. I'll work on that next.

Thanks for all of your help troubleshooting! :)

LOL. Looks like the alias worked as expected. From this end it looks just as if you'd sent the message from mbergen - which is correct behavior for an alias, no one else should be aware that you used it instead of your subscription address.

since I'm subscribed to this group as mbergen@....

Yes you are. And only by that name (no second subscription under littlejack).

Re: Modified Message-IDs as a Gmail work-around

jonathon,

I meant to write: "I am aware that Message-Ids are, in theory, unique,
but in practice, non-unique."

Ah.

Of course that, two different message contents with the same Message-ID, is a much worse problem if they happen to arrive at the same Inbox. Then the email interface (especially if it is Gmail) may choose not to show one of them (the "duplicate" message).

At least the problem Mark was solving is more benign - the same message content arriving with two different Message-IDs merely results in the user seeing both copies in his/her inbox.

Re: Transfer Yahoo Group

Jim,

I wasn't aware it was a manual process.

Unfortunately a manual step (solving a CAPTCHA) is required when the transfer agent accepts the invitation. That's a Yahoo thing.

Maybe he is really on vacation.

As was mentioned in another Topic, not quite yet. But he may be very busy preparing for it... ;-)

Re: Incredimail Stationary??

Cassie,

Do you check force html??

That shouldn't matter. It will only affect messages that arrive in plain-text format -- which means none of the Incredimail messages. If you have some members who prefer plain text you might leave that unchecked.

The advice to set Max Size In Email to No resizing is probably the key to letting stationary display correctly.

Admin -> Members -> Bouncing, select member(s), then select Action.

Re: A whole week?

Nope! Not yet. I would have received a notice in my email and I did not. Also checked the group members and not there yet.

Thanks,

Cassie yes you check force HTML. Then look where it says image sizes and make sure you have no resizing checked.

Remove/Delete bouncing members

Again, another pair of newbie questions.

I have 80 newly transferred members that are bouncing. There must be an automated way to remove them from the group list other than entering all of their addresses in the "Bulk Remove" box.

Is there a way to sort the membership on their priveledges or mailing status?

Thanks in advance,
Ken

Actually email senders are admonished to ensure that they are unique
across all of space and time. Ok, that's a bit overstated, but it is the idea.

Be patient and check whether the transfer agent is a member of your Yahoo group. If so, remember to make it a Moderator, or the transfer cannot be completed.

Mark's vacation does not start until April 23rd.

Re: Transfer Yahoo Group

Yes I have gone through that process of "Start New Transfer" three times now over the last three days and then send the invite, also three times. I wasn't aware it was a manual process. Maybe he is really on vacation. Good for him. I'll just wait awhile longer.

Re: Transfer Yahoo Group

Has anyone had any problems recently with initiating a transfer? I've been trying for three days with no luck. I followed the guidance including starting a transfer and sending an invite to [email protected] to the Yahoo forum. I read the notice that it may take groups.io a day or two to respond to the invite but it has been three days now.

Jim
Did you use the "Start New Transfer" button to fill out the form at the bottom of the Yahoo Transfer Page? /yahootransfer If you've done that, give it a little while. Mark is technically on vacation, although I know he's still doing stuff behind the scenes. I suspect his idea of a vacation is what the rest of us would call a working vacation.

Re: export and/or print directory

On Windows, you can save the data in a CSV file (memberlist.csv) and then open that file in Excel or any spreadsheet program.
How you save the data from the browser is browser dependent.? In Chrome, you can right-click and choose Save as...

A whole week?

Wow! And I've already started the process according to directions! I suppose I will just have to restart again. Might as well close the page and do something else.

Re: export and/or print directory

Go to Admin, Members. There is a download button.
NOT Directory.
I just tried pasting it into Numbers (Apple's version of Excel) and it looks wonderful!
