Re: Adding about 3100 members
I was going to reply suggesting the Direct Add function of the Premium service but then I wondered how you get a list of 3100 people into it. As I am on the Basic Plan, my only experience with Direct Add is with adding members of the main group to a sub-group. It allows 20 at a time but, obviously, has no provision for importing lists. Searching Help gave no guidance nor was there explicit info in the message archive. I did come across a direct question about file format which remains unanswered. Why?

Google Sites Wiki
This is a demo google sites wiki I set up for cohousing communities to demonstrate how to keep track of facilities.
It is attractive as well as being easy to use. New pages appear automatically in the sidebar — when you create a new page, you enter the title, choose a template, and have a clear list of levels of pages to choose a level. You can also change the URL to use a name shorter than the name of the page. The ability to modify colors, choose different themes. A page that lists attachments. The formatting palette shows automatically when you are editing a page or entering content in the first page. If you want to code, you can. You can also edit the html if a page is acting strangely. I can’t tell you how easy this is for totally inexperienced people to use. Essential problem is finding it. Google’s menu is getting so huge and is divided into so many levels that people have to have the Url to find it. Sharon |
Question on Message Formatting
So we're trying to migrate from Yahoo Groups and I was wondering if there's a setting where a Replay to a message shows up as a new message (as it does in Yahoo Groups). This would be more beneficial for our group structure instead of the chain/thread of messages with the same title.

Thanks for the clarification. I did find out we don’t even have a debit card so I need to ask the treasurer if that’s a possibility.

I’ve not heard of an invitation message not being sent. When you fill out the transfer page, it won’t take unless the transfer agent is a member and a moderator. You click the button and nothing happens. On the transfer form page there is a drop down menu that shows current transfers. It will list all the transferring groups with status — completed, pending (or some such word), and needs attention. Needs attention is likely to be make transfer agent moderator. I also changed the banner image to a redirect containing the new URL. It wasn't big and red, but it really seemed to mitigate problems.
After doing that and putting the group(s) on moderation, I had ONE person post to the Y!Gs. Speaking of which, I shut down our two Y!Gs yesterday. We are "all in" with GIO now. Bruce |

Re: Transfer group into another group's subgroup?
If you're transferring both groups from Yahoo, there's no problem doing that.? Mark has said that he's not currently offering the service of moving an existing GIO group to a sub-group though.

Shal, thanks for fleshing out what happened during that week. As I explained, I was trying to help some other groups get moved, and at that time the invitation process was simply not working, even if an invitation was also sent to another address at the same time. I had contacted Mark directly and we determined that the original way of getting 'transfer' onto those Yahoo groups wasn't working and I asked him if the old request membership email might work. He tried it and it did indeed get around the problem of getting 'transfer' onto those groups. It simply became another item in his bag of tools to get into Yahoo.

I think it's odd, given the constantly evolving situation of Yahoo, that some think it's necessary to pin Mark down as to which method he uses. I suspect the situation is changeable enough that he uses whatever means seems to work at the moment. At the risk of sounding heretical, it seems akin to asking God to explain creation. We really can only give Mark all the pieces we have and let him use his skill to make the process happen. If he needs something else, he's not hesitant to reach out to the owner. Bruce, Hmmm...both the Yahoo group transfer instructions and the GMF wikiWhen the Form submission was first created there was a brief time (maybe less than a day) when the instructions did not mention inviting the transfer agent, but waiting to approve the transfer agent if needed ... and depending on group settings this might not even be possible.... and then Mark ran into the "Invitation only" type of group. And so the instructions changed again to require an invitation. Bottom item: Someone needs to confirm the actual process so the documentation canI'm not sure we know, fully. It is safe to say that the Y!Group should invite the transfer agent; because the instructions say so. What I'm not certain of is what happens in the event that a group reaches the head of the queue, or some timeout, without the transfer agent receiving the invitation. Maybe Mark will then attempt to subscribe to the group. That is, it may be belts-and-suspenders, but I don't know that for certain. Of course if neither happens then the process stalls and it is up to Mark and/or the Y!group admins to notice and attempt to get it back on track somehow. Shal |
Transfer group into another group's subgroup?
I have two groups and want to "lump" where one is a subgroup of another.? Advantages: able to manage subscribers easily in subgroups.? And without any loss of messages, files, etc.? Is this possible for one of the Groups.io managers?? I don't think group owners have that power, right?

Adding about 3100 members
Desidério Murcho
开云体育Dear all,I run an education website (in Portuguese), and so far I have been using TinyLetter to send updates and notices to my readers. I am fast approaching the max number of members, though, and I am shopping around for alternatives. That is when I found . Great work indeed!? I have set a group for testing purposes and I already see a hurdle: the automatic message sent when someone subscribes by email cannot be changed and is sent in English. Well, maybe I can get around that.? My question though is this: in the paid plan we may directly add members. However, can I add those 3100 subscribers I already have? Or is it too much?? Thanks in advance for your help! Best, Desi |

I've always used my debit card, from the group transfer forward. Groups.io just sees it as a credit card. If for some reason the monthly transfer doesn't go through, you get a warning message from groups.io and a chance to rectify the situation before anything dire happens.

Currently I pay with a personal credit card for our small non-profits page. (We are a quilt group with 112 members.). I’d like to switch this to our treasurer but the group does not have a credit card. Can we do an ach payment from our checking account? Can we use a debit card tied to that checking account? What do others do in this situation? |

开云体育Normally, a good idea, but this is a private, by invitation, group of the board members of a small organization (~80 members), and won’t have random interest. I have a friend that will probably be moving a more open group soon. I’ll pass on the idea. ? Randy Thomson ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Bob Bellizzi ? Oh yes, one other thing,? If it's possible someone might wish to join our group and run across your Yahoo shell, it would be helpful to do what I did for our very large and active group. 开云体育Well, heck. I saw that option, but it wasn’t when I needed it, so I forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder. Hmm. Take me to the middle… not a bad idea J Nah, I can divide by two. ?
