Re: Moderation
It isn¡¯t checked, which I assumed meant members could post. If I check it then presumably all members are moderated. Or is there something I have missed?

She wants NuM and she will have to do it by hand for the existing members coming from yahoo. That's correct. Regardless of how they got that way, any member whose Posting Privilege is Override: moderated will continue to have their messages held pending until their privilege is manually changed. My usual approach to such members is to be lazy: I wait for their next message to land in the Pending list and change their Privilege to Default group policy at that time. Unless I want to keep that individual moderated, of course. Then I can choose between leaving them on indefinite moderation or changing them to Override: new user moderated, but the latter only makes sense if the group has enabled Unmoderate After to a setting higher than 1. Y!G does have a NuM feature and it's the same as GIO...it's in the group settings, not the subscriber settings. See attached screenshot. I support your efforts to somehow carry over this feature during migration, but to do so will entail making some assumptions regarding where existing Y!G users are in the process of first-post moderation. Lurkers can spend years in this stage if they've never posted anything. Bruce |

In some email systems you can create a filter that will put matching messages into your Inbox, overriding the spam filterHere's an example from Gmail Settings for my account. Because it is an account setting on the Gmail server, it does not matter what device you are using - the rule applies at the mail server itself. If you are using a local mail client, it may have its own filters that could change whatever the server has done? with its filters. Previous to setting the *.groups.io filter, the odd item might have gone to Spam but what was curious was that Beta was categorised as Promotions while GMF messages went to Forums. Now, all go to Forums.? |

That's because they came over as "M" (moderated) from your yahoo group, which had no "new member moderated" feature. You can either go through your member list and set them all to NuM, or leave them alone and continue to approve/unmoderate by hand as their first messages come in. My experience suggests that plain-text digests are more likely to be delivered because they contain no clickable links. If some members experience a persistent problem you could tell them to try that.

Re: Anyone else experiencing missing digests?
What email service are they using? Yahoo mail was and may still be bouncing emails. I know it started at the beginning of the month and continued into mid month. This also applies to some of the providers linked to them like Rocket.
Whether it is still going on, I don't know. Paul, Ohio, USA |
I got unsubscribed!
Even as Owner and Moderator of two groups, and a Subscriber to this one, I found myself? unsubscribed today.
My only solution was to find the page for join one of the groups and sign in with my e-mail address. I got the link that was good for only 1 hour. Surprisingly, it worked for all three groups at once! Anyone else have this problem or know why it happened? No message was intentionally marked as Spam, but since my e-mail is really a Yahoo address, maybe Yahoo delivered a message to my Spam folder. BTW the "username" in this post is because Yahoo bought my rocketmail account long ago and gave me the name of ray_r.rrm Now I'm afraid to change it Thanks, Richard |
