Re: How does a Bounce get Reset?

>> I need to tell her how to reset her Bounce.

Look her up in the members list. If the "B" code is blue, GIO is still trying to send her posts, and will unbounce her as soon as one goes through. If it's red, you can manually send a new bounce probe at the bottom of the page.

Re: bouncing

Marina,

I am thinking of sending a notice/alert in the group (in case bouncing members at least read posts online) ...

If they log on to Groups.io while their address is bouncing they'll see a red banner at the top of every page telling them that their address is bouncing. I don't remember for certain at the moment but I think in that condition they are not allowed to access members-only content until they unbounce.

and then simply delete all bouncing accounts.
?
As I said earlier, for those that went bouncing immediately after being copied in from a Yahoo Group that's probably fine.

But for those that went bouncing more recently it is possible that Yahoo Mail will cure its glitches and those members you could send them an ad-hoc bounce probe to see if they are able to unbounce themselves. I wouldn't summarily remove them from your group.

Re: A few questions about transferring a group

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I had the same problem, the YG list owner had a falling out with YG several years ago and the two moderators carried on for over

ten years without contact.? I set up a new list last July on groups.io? I invited [email protected]? BUT I couldn't make that new member a

moderator (and neither could the other moderator).? So with the aid of some list members, this January we finally found the YG list owner and he

agreed to transfer the list and made me a co-owner.? Immediately I made [email protected] a moderator and started the transfer; it

completed three days later.

Thanks, that is what i noticed when using the overview page. ?It would be a nice feature to keep the preferred option in tact.

I don't want to bookmark a whole slew of groups.

I'm getting at least two yahoo members bouncing per day, sometimes unbouncing and then bouncing again. I've warned my group members to consider changing their email address if they're using yahoo email.

resizing fotos doesn?t work

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Duane, thanks again. So I?ll try that out and hope it works.

I did an experiment this morning (in the US) on uploading photos to be resized.? I have the group set to limit them to 312x312.? The photo I uploaded was 10560x6832, 3.37MB.? A quick check of the storage used after upload showed no change, so it was definitely reduced.? On the photo overview listing of albums, right clicking showed the photo to be 720x466 resized to 307x240 and 42.7KB.? Clicking on the photo to open it in the view window shows the same information, but shows a size below it of 12.01KB.? Clicking the Download button opens the photo as stored and info shows 312x202 and 12.01 KB.

Any photos uploaded before the limit was set will still be at their original size/storage.? I hope this helps.

Does that 1 904 761 number include those who are only subscribed to
groups that are not visible?

It looks like roughly 10,000 new subscribers per day. Which makes 25
March 2018 the day that the two million mark is reached.

Likes

So if I "like" a message post, it shows that i've "liked" it; dumb question probably, but where else is it reflected, is there a cumulative number of likes displayed somewhere or exactly what is the purpose of that feature (other than to tell my forgetful sell that at some point in the past i liked the post)

Re: How do you get members to join your group? #promotion

My group began as -- and continues to be -- a collaboration site for a non-profit organization. As such, our migration to GIO has done little to increase or decrease the number of subsribers, as membership in the parent organization is a requirement for using the collaboration site.

If the goal is to increase group size there are tools here to do that under Admin->Promote. However, it's my experience that a large fraction of any such group will not actively participate, and I'd prefer to have 20 people who post regularly than 20,000 lurkers.

Just some thoughts,
Bruce

google drive integration

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Bruce, thank you for this information. I had created a folder but didn?t know how to share ist. I?ll try that out.

Victoria

----

Victoria - To let people access your Google drive, you have to create a folder and share it.?

Once you set up a link address from the sharing dialogue you can put that in your GIO group as we've discussed previously. From that point forward anything you drag into the folder should be visible to group members via clicking on the link.

I know of no way to make the folder public so others can upload to it. Perhaps someone with more experience can help you with that part.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Re: bouncing

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Marina I don't think they need to delete their email account. All they have to do is go to iogroups and reactivate the bounce. I did that yesterday and now my email is fine.
?
I decided I don't want to get rid of my yahoo email. I will just watch if I bounce.
?
You can just tell your members to go to the iogroups and make sure they are not bouncing.

How does a Bounce get Reset?

I think that Shal posted how a member can reset their bounce but I've lost that and wonder if there is a way for me, the owner, to do a reset? I took the list of Bouncing members on Groups.io and posted that to my group via Yahoo Groups. At least one got through because I've received an email from her. I need to tell her how to reset her Bounce.

Is there a way to set the display to default to MESSAGES instead of TOPICS?
