Page selection in Directory
There is a minor technical flaw in the page selection in the Directory.
At the bottom RH area, the pages can be selected with left and righ arrows. But both arrows increase the page numbers. The left arrow increases the pages instead of reducing the pages. Hope this is clear enough. -- Richard |
Anyone have samples of letters sent to your group before and after transferring to io
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýLinda, ? this is the letter I sent beforehand. I copied the cover photo of our group on top so everyone would see at first glance where it?s coming from. This is the text: --- we want to inform you that we will be moving our group to another site in the next few weeks, because Yahoo, as you will have noticed, no longer works sufficiently well. As you know our topics are ¡¡.. Once the transfer is finished, you will be informed again. Name (owner of the group) and the moderator team I sent a mail to each group member (it took me quite a few hours for we had close to 600 members). By this I also found out about non-existing members, bounced mail-addresses etc. and removed them from the members list before hand. Good luck with your group |

Re: Resizing of photos
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDuane, sorry, but I still don?t really get it. Just one example: I put photo settings to 140x140, then I uploaded a photo. When I do a right click to get foto info, it says: Size: 221,24 KB (226.552 Byte); Measures: 526px ¡Á 720px (resized to 240px ¡Á 328px). ? So where do I find that maximum size which I?ve set it to? Victoria ? ---- That confused me a little when it was first introduced.? I finally figured out that the photos are displayed at a slightly different size than they're saved at.? Re: Directory

Thanks, Duane.? I'll do some checking, but:
one member (who's a member, not a mod) can see all 8 in the group in the Directory; another member (who's also a member, not a mod) can only see 3 in the group in the Directory, including himself so there must be something else going on to explain that... your explanation that other members need to have enabled "other members of your group" to show up, doesn't explain why 1 sees all 8, and another 1 sees only 3. |

In Account Profile, Identity, each member can decide on their settings.

Problem with links in emails from Yahoo email users
Peter DeNardis
When a subscriber to my group (iwmfconnect) posts a message from their Yahoo email service, and inserts a url (like , for example), Yahoo automatically inserts a clickable image in that email message. The resultant message that appears in our group is stripped of that url and image completely.? Is there something that I, as list owner could/should do about that? Thanks, Peter L. Re: Directory

Moderators will be able to see everyone.? Members will only be able to see other members that have enabled "Other members of your group".? It's easy for a moderator to forget to set this since they can see them all anyway.

Directory
#directory
I'm talking here about the Directory, not the member list under the Admin button.
In Admin settings, I have the member directory setting set to "subscribers" A member, not a moderator, has his profile privacy setting (under his Subscription, Group Profile, Edit Group Profile) set to "Other members of your group".? A moderator has the same setting in his account. Why is it that the member can only see 3 others including himself (I currently have 8 testing the group, 3 moderators and 5 "members"); whereas the moderators can see all 8 in Directory Any clue what I'm clearly missing?? Obviously (?) there is something unique on the 3 that are showing, and the other 5 that are not, but darn if i see it... |

Re: How long does it take for the transfer-bot to accept a Yahoo Groups invite?
#transfer
I sent the invite to the transfer-bot from the Yahoo GroupJust a couple other thoughts - When you sent the invitation to [email protected], did you also send an second invitation in the same message to an email address you have access to that is unknown to Yahoo groups? If you get the second invitation yourself, that will tell you if the invitation is actually going out or not. If you don't hear back from the transfer agent in a couple days or if you can't seem to get an invitation out, you might contact [email protected] directly and explain that you may be having trouble getting an invitation out. A reply to such a message can also require a little time for support to have time to respond. If you've already filled out the transfer request form, such a message might cause 'transfer' to send you a request for membership to the groupname-subscribe@... address for your yahoo group. Watch your group and spam filters for that possibility and make sure your group is set to allow such requests. We had to use that trick to get 'transfer' into a couple Y! groups I was working with that couldn't seem to get invitations out. As Shal noted, the backlog is pretty deep and it's taking a long time for groups to work through the queue. Given the number of groups trying to transfer, and knowing that a lot of little things can hang part of a transfer, this can be a test of patience, but in my opinion, the final result is well worth the wait. Re: Subject in subject line and hashtag...
#hashtags
Marina,
If it is of any confort to you, today one of my members posted a message with the correct hashtag but without the # symbol. He did it via mail, I suppose, because if you send a message from the group you can choose from a dropdown menu a set of hashtags with the # symbol. Without the # it isn't a hashtag - just a word (or unspaced phrase) in the subject text. So I'm not sure why you're surprised that the message went through.

subgroup creation fails?
When I click on "Create Subgroup", nothing happens (well, the form refreshes but that's it). No subgroup is created. If I go to?/,?it shows: "You do not have permission to access that page." See image. If I refresh that top-level groups.io page, the diagnostic disappears but comes back any time I re-attempt subgroup creation. Any clue as to what's going on?

Anyone have samples of letters sent to your group before and after transferring to io
Does anyone have samples of e-mails they sent to their groups notifying them of their upcoming move along with instructions on how to start using the new site?? Trying to create e-mails to ease the transition and can use all of the help I can get.

Re: How long does it take for the transfer-bot to accept a Yahoo Groups invite?
#transfer
webmaster,
I sent the invite to the transfer-bot from the Yahoo Group I amNo. The invitation acceptance is not automated because accepting them requires solving a CAPTCHA. Also, due to the backlog of groups attempting to transfer, and to some limits at Yahoo, the invitations are not accepted immediately. Rather that is deferred until your group is closer to the front of the queue. I just don't know if this is a normal healthy delay, or if in fact theYou should be able to see your request's current status by selecting the Yahoo Group name in the "In Process" droplist down at the bottom right of the Transfer instructions page: /yahootransfer As of right now, I have no transfer-bot inWhen the Invitation is accepted you should receive a message at the email address you use to log into Groups.io Subject: "Steps to transfer..." From: Easy Group Transfer <[email protected]>. That's in addition to any "Joined" message you may receive from Yahoo. Note that due to the backlog there will also likely be some time between when you've promoted the transfer agent, and clicked the "Go" button on the In Process page, and when the transfer will actually be underway. In a very large group (lots of messages & other content) it could also take quite a while for all the content to be collected.
