Re: Was my invitation accepted?

Hi Frances, yes I've seen the instructions. I've completed steps 0-2 of the Yahoo transfer 3 days ago. I haven't seen any new member from groups.io attempt to join my Yahoo group. Was my invitation received for the wvdxc@yahoogroups account?

Thank you,
Al Rovner

Thank you - that would be useful. I really appreciate your help with this problem.

Yesterday I created a test group and uploaded a small file - still only saw the pencil and the scissors and no trash can or flag.

Click on the little arrow next to the word "Messages" and then click on "Topics." That will take you back to Topics View.

It doesn¡¯t matter which email you use if you¡¯re logged into because yes, it will read that cookie. You could log out first and try it. I¡¯m not sure I understood your second steps in any case.

That said, whatever the general problem consists of, it is not reproducible and happens at seemingly random times. So trying to test the ways you did will generally be useless anyway. Been there, done that.

Like Jim, I do not have the Home/Subscription/Messages/New Topic options at the very bottom of my Digest messages.? I do have the links Jim referenced below each message in the digest.? But at the very bottom of the Digest I have only a link to the Group address with reference to unsubscribing, and it appears below (not above) the blue Groups.io banner. There no word "Home" to indicate that this is the Group Home links.? I read my gmail messages in Windows Live Mail on my desktop, or on my iPhone or iPad, and this is the format on all my devices.

I have previously suggested that a Group Home link (and the other links available at the bottom of Individual message format) be made available in the Digest message format.? I've suggested this both on GMF and Beta groups.? (sorry I don't have a message # to reference.)? I have not pushed the issue, as I felt Mark has enough to deal with currently getting new groups transferred.? But I find it interesting that you have a the Home/Subscription/Messages/New Topics options that do not appear for Jim and I.

J,
I am looking at the test email message I get, not the web archive. Thanks for this pointer and making me aware of what I need to do for a response. I always like to respond with the prior post in the message, and so it appears the signature capability would be of no value to me.

Subgroup Problem

Yesterday I sent the message below to support and got the automated response they are reviewing it. I had posted the problem here and it was recommended I send the issue to support. I am pretty certain I had tested the group out before by accessing the subgroup links as a non-member and it worked like it should. It seems like it is a glitch that just recently occurred, maybe as an unforeseen consequence of correcting another bug. I am pretty much ready to transfer my Yahoo group to Groups.io but am waiting until this glitch is corrected. This is because I am ready to send a personal email message to each member and want to make sure they can access the main and subgroup pages, as non-members (since the transfer hasn't been made yet), to appreciate their appearance and to be able to read the full purpose description of the subgroups. Does anyone have any idea how long it might take for support to correct this bug?

Also, a lot of times now when I attempt to go to the main group I get a web image of a cat with the statement "Undergoing Maintenance." This seems to be occurring more often now than it had when I was working on my other Yahoo group that has been successfully moved over to Groups.io. Actually, I don't recall it ever occurring when I was working on the other group. Is this just a temporary phenomenon, maybe because all the bugs that need correcting, or is it something members will encounter all the time? I know one member, and probably more since a fair number have their profile set to 'No Mail', that does all his posting and reading of messages on the Yahoo group website. If undergoing maintenance will be a frequent occurrence, like it now has become, it could be a real annoyance for members who want to log into the group, something they did not encounter in the Yahoo group (I'm assuming since I have not received any complaints).
Stan

MESSAGE TO SUPPORT:

My main group I am creating is at

I created two subgroups and have the Privacy set to
"Listed in parent group, archives visible by parent group members"
When a non-member goes to the home page and clicks on Subgroups, a list of the subgroups come up but there is not enough room for the complete purpose statement. When the non-member clicks on a subgroup it goes back to the main group page. Even when I enter the URL for the subgroup it does not go to the subgroup page but instead goes to the main group page. The prospective member does not see the subgroup image I chose and does not see the complete purpose statement. The prospective member may not join as a result. I remember trying this before as a non-member and it worked the same way as the main group, i.e., it took me to the subgroup home page, the cover image is displayed, the full purpose statement is given, and the email address to subscribe is at the bottom of the page. This comes just after some maintenance took place (an image of a cat was displayed). Is the maintenance not complete yet even though the cat image does not come up?

Shal,

Mark has checked into all of this multiple times for my group and has said it's a mystery. He even set my group up with a special "resend pending member notice" for current group members. On his end, everything shows up as having been successfully delivered. But as we know, that can sometimes be false and bounces can show up much later.

The pending member's Email Delivery History ought to have something to say about the fate of the Pending notification.

But I'm not seeing anything shown as "Most Recent Successful Delivery" even though my test address did receive the Pending notice. So that's something maybe Mark could address - having that confirmation of delivery would make me much more confident in telling the would-be member to check their spam folder.

Contrariwise, had the Pending Notice been rejected it should show there too. But the Email Delivery History page for my test address in the Pending list has nothing in it. Which leaves one to wonder if anything was sent at all.
