In my group they are not even in spam. They just get lost somewhere.
The pending member's Email Delivery History ought to have something to say about the fate of the Pending notification.

But I'm not seeing anything shown as "Most Recent Successful Delivery" even though my test address did receive the Pending notice. So that's something maybe Mark could address - having that confirmation of delivery would make me much more confident in telling the would-be member to check their spam folder.

Contrariwise, had the Pending Notice been rejected it should show there too. But the Email Delivery History page for my test address in the Pending list has nothing in it. Which leaves one to wonder if anything was sent at all.

In my group they are not even in spam. They just get lost somewhere. That said, the first sentence in my group description now implores applicants to the group to check their inbox and spam folders for the questionnaire. And it is in bold. This is not a great situation.

This is something I would like to see as well. I've tried using the?¡°Pending Subscription¡± option in ¡°Member Notices¡± to have a message sent to the person applying to join the group, to ask them to say something before their membership would be approved, but that doesn't seem to work. The message is not being sent to the email addresses of the applicants. All that is being sent is the notification to the moderators telling them that a new member needs to be approved.?

Am I misunderstanding how to use the Pending Subscription notice, or does it not work the way I assumed?

UPDATE some hours later.
Perhaps there was a problem in my email delivery system (I have a private email server) but in any case I did later receive my test Pending Subscription emails.

Still, the box for new members to write a comment to the owner/moderators when applying to the group would be a great feature.

PS: ?Yahoo had the same problem, or in fact, first it was different (I think that Eastern standard time) and last year it changed to UTC +0000.

I just tried it again and verified what I had entered as a test signature is still there. It still does not work. I am using an older version of Thunderbird, ver 3.0.3. I made sure I had the View on messages set to html. Could it be because it is an older version (very old) of Thunderbird?

Ah, the table of messages by month.

Heh, that seems to be constructed in UTC+00:00 rather than one's own timezone. Which would be defensible, I suppose, except the link on the new ones doesn't work. It seems to be trying to find them in local time, or something.

That's definitely something to report to [email protected] as a bug. Not just that the table is built in UTC+00:00, but the messages that fall "into the next month" can't be found when that table cell is clicked.

Interesting. Before I sent the message I went to the settings to make sure I had clicked on the save button. I had. I'll try it again.

Sorry for not be explicit on where the problem is.

It is on the message folders on the "Home" screen.

If you look in them, you will see 37 messages in March that were sent in February! ?

On the message list the timestamp is ok.

are! It's got to be something basic that is being missed?
It usually is.

But I haven't contrived a situation where I see the pencil and scissors but not the trash can. As mod (with no privileges) I see all four icons. As I do as a member if it is my file; if it is not my file I see only the flag.

The group I am hoping to transfer from YG is already present in
Groups.io. It is not listed in the Groups.io directory and will have
restricted membership with no content of any description available
publicly. I don't know whether this information has any bearing on my
current difficulties?
I can't imagine how or why it should have anything to do with what an owner sees in the Files page.

I'm at a loss. Maybe send a screen shot to [email protected] because you seem to be winning this round of "stump the experts".

Have you looked at files in other groups? I can make you a mod or owner at shalstest to see if the files there look different. Maybe we can tease out whether the issue is related to your account versus your group.

The issue is this: today is February 28th. At 21:00 local time the
month changed, despite here was the 21:00 and not 00:00 of March 1rst.
I just moved my Groups.io timezone to Montevideo, and it is now 10:57 pm. But I don't see March 1st anywhere, Dates on recent files and message still say Feb. 28th. Where should I be looking?

Can you give me a screen shot of it?

I don't understand what you mean by "the day change time". Are you referring to a difference between the date or time shown on Groups.io web pages as compared to your local time?

Also, which UTC-03:00 are you? Brasilia, Buenos Aires, Cayenne, Fortaleza, Greenland, Montevideo, Miquelon, or Salvador?

The reason there are different selections within UTC-03:00 is that the different areas may have different rules concerning daylight savings time and other factors.

I don't know if that will have anything to do with the problem you are reporting, but I'm grasping at straws because I don't understand what the problem is.

I am having the same problem than with Yahoo: ?despite the timezone is selected as GMT -3, the day change time is several hours before midninght!
Yahoo changed it?s timezone aleatory as that was not available to select. ?But here?

I went into my profile and activated "Use signature for email posting." I entered just anything as the signature and clicked on Save. I sent a message but the signature did not display at the bottom of the email message I got. Am I incorrectly interpreting what the "Use signature for email posting" is?

Goodness, wouldn't want you to do that. I happen to have an XP system also running Firefox ESR 52.6.0 (32-bit) and it shows the icons as expected:

On the group in question, select Subscription from the left menu.? Scroll down to Advanced Preferences and open that.? Near the bottom of that section is a Max Attachment Size selection box.
