Re: Bug in Groups.io?
I had the same experience last night and, based on the AVG comment about "unable to verify the identity of the site" figured it was a certificate issue or something similar and (either bravely or stupidly) entered *groups.io/* as an exception in AVG and had no trouble since then. (Which I suppose means if I am wrong, I'm spreading disease....)

Re: Number of Groups.io Members
Got a new member on one of my groups about 30 minutes ago - 1,646,921.? I think a lot of the groups already existed, for setup, so the group count (now 4760 shown) isn't climbing quickly, just the member count.

Re: Can't get to my group site
Avast was blocking access to my group because of a virus. That was yesterday; today the "virus" seems to be gone. No idea what or why.

Re: Can't get to my group site
I have heard from one of my group members that have talked to Norton.? The information I am getting supposedly coming from Norton was that 1 group within groups.io received a suspicious message.? The group member was told they could go into Norton and override the message and or screen Norton has that is blocking Groups.io.? ? ?As well I use Firefox and have Avira for security.? It is not being blocked by either Firefox or Avira. ? Doug From: [email protected] <[email protected]> on behalf of WBennett <del13piero@...>

Both my group page and the status page are fine for me... I use Kaspersky Internet Security and it is usually pretty touchy, but it is OK with groups.io.

Re: Default Group Settings
J_Catlady
I recognize that as a quote from a post of mine, and unfortunately, it was quoted out of context. I was addressing someone who had specifically set their group to NuM. It is not the case that all new members in any group are moderated by default. It depends on the group¡¯s settings.

Re: Default Group Settings
?Hello,
We early adopters have been extremely demanding and there are many tweaks in order to get what we want! So yes, it is a little complicated but I think you will be able to do what you want. Here¡¯s a thread talking about new users - not absolutely sure it means transfers from YG. And the key message: ¡°ALL new users are moderated in your group, including you. Go into your settings and check the number (1, 2, 3, or 4) in the "new users moderated" setting. That is the number of posts from each member that need to be approved before they are unmoderated.¡± /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/10636341#4130 Go to your Groups.io homepage. Click on Admin on the left menu. That opens a list of tools including Settings. Click on Settings. Scroll down until you get to Spam Control. Lots of other tweaks here too. Be sure to save settings. Be sure to look at the help and the Group Managers Forum Wiki. Help - /static/help This link is in the footer of pages. And the Group Managers Forum wiki /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/home Frances |

Well, the status page is being blocked as well.?

What if it's not wrong?? What are the odds of two independent virus groups getting it wrong at the same time?

Re: Can't get to my group site
Duane, Any chance that you could tell us what is in the emails? I can't access the site because of the Norton Block and don't want to whitelist until there is a reason given for this problem. Thanks, Paul, Ohio, USA

Default Group Settings
When I add new members to the group the advanced settings is set to default settings.? Default settings do not allow for people to post, so I have to pick over ride moderation even though we don't moderate posts.
I can't find where you can change the Advanced settings or default group settings. I am very new to this group system, I ran a yahoo group for years. Thanks! |

Re: Can't get to my group site
Matt,
What if it's not wrong? What are the odds of two independent virusIt's more than two, and apparently pretty good. Maybe they rely on the same underlying sources. The complaint from Microsoft Edge appears to be based on user reports. I've put in my counter-vote. Hmm... Either they've taken it down or it somehow popped up on my work machine but not my home machine. But theirs doesn't (didn't) claim a virus infection, just a "phishing threat" - Groups.io might be impersonating some other site. Inquiring minds wanna know....Read the beta thread. But I guess you'll have to unblock the site to do that. FWIW neither of my machines has had any AV type warning about Groups.io, but both use Microsoft Defender, not Avast, Symantic/Norton, AVG or others. At this time McAfee is NOT reporting groups.io as a phishing site. Bruce |
