Re: The word "FWD" is being stripped from the topic title, but not the word "FW" - when forwarding an email.

No, you really were pretty clear...I just kinda digressed a little. :) ?
I think "FWD" is removed for the same reason "Re:" is. You can petition for "FW" to be added to the list, if you want; just post a request in t. That's how all the "foreign-language" (I use that phrase with reluctance) reply indicators got added.

Re: The word "FWD" is being stripped from the topic title, but not the word "FW" - when forwarding an email.
Thanks Bruce, really appreciate your fast reply!
And sorry, maybe I wasn't clear enough! The "FWD" was stripped from the main "topic", not as a reply to a message. So this was a brand new message on the group, started via the group's email address. ?
Interestingly enough, the "FWD" gets removed, but not the "FW". I was just curious to know if there's any reason for that, and if there are any words we should be aware of.
?
At any rate, this is probably a low priority, but nonetheless, curious.
THANKS!

Not sure about this one. ?
There are multiple reply indicators (Re: Ref: etc,) - in many languages - that get stripped routinely. Such changes to the subject line would only be noticeable to those receiving Individual Emails. In the message archive - and digests built from it - they simply get threaded into the existing topic, whose subject line was defined at topic creation.
?
I hope that made sense.

Calendar appointment not being delivered to the members of a subgroup
Hello,
?
Sorry for opening multiple topics, but we have another issue that is concerning the calendar.
?
We run a series of subgroups, each of them quite active. We organize monthly calls, and we usually do so by setting up an Outlook calendar, and inviting the "email" address of the subgroup.
This has always worked well, people usually get a calendar invite, and regardless if they accept it or not, it stays in their Outlook - which is great.
?
However, in one of the subgroups, the calendar invite was converted to an .ics file and nobody received the regular meeting request. We've tried to replicate it on other groups, but without success.
Anyone knows why? What would be the best way of setting calendar meetings -- from Outlook or from the Group interface? What if we want to keep anonymous the people that respond to that calendar invite?
?
Thanks! |
The word "FWD" is being stripped from the topic title, but not the word "FW" - when forwarding an email.
Hello, we just stumbled upon a curiosity. In one of our subgroups, someone forwarded an email to the group email address. However the "FWD" from the title was stripped once it arrived on the platform.
We've tried again with "FW", and that didn't get removed.?
?
Any idea why? And are there other words that get removed if used in a title?
?
Thanks! |
Re: Is Group.io is for sale?
I did a web search for that wording and seems to me it's a lot of different sites that are selling coupons or codes for buying stuff from various different groups on groups IO.
Don't think it's the web site that's for sale just different stuff by different groups from what I saw. |

link to a site What site?? It may be one of those that deduce things using AI, and is wrong.? Actually, every web site (name) is for sale, it just depends on whether you have the funds needed to buy it!? I checked several sites that claim to know the value/worth of sites.? For Groups.io it ranges from $10 to almost a million.? Of course, Mark doesn't have to sell and could ask any price he wants.? Another I site name I looked at said $100,000 to almost 400 million.? Basically, they're just wild guesses.

problem with Edge
I am using Edge as my browser on Windows 11. Yesterday morning, after successfully viewing my IO groups, all of a sudden I was getting this screen instead of a view of my groups:
Clicking on any of those lines does nothing. I am able to see other websites just fine. I switched to Chrome and I can access my groups just fine. Anyone know what happened? It's not just me. Another of my members using Edge is reporting the same thing. Strange that it didn't happen right after a Windows update. I've cleared my cookies and still not able to view my groups.?

It will also depend on Mark's (site owner) personal situation - sickness, overseas vacation, etc.

Never mind. Turns out it was less than an hour (at least for me today). On Mon, Feb 10, 2025 at 2:11?PM Gordon Strause via <gordonstrause=[email protected]> wrote:

how quickly until a group is approved
Just started an alumni group that I was hoping to post to today. Didn't realize that one couldn't post until the group was "approved."
Does anyone know how long it typically takes before a group is approved? Is it minutes, hours, days? Trying to figure out if I'll need to send out my time sensitive message another way. Thanks! ?

Yes, the manual does say that but I've never encountered it...Happened to me a couple days ago - right here in GMF - found some messages on the web site that were posted in the wee hours (local time) but weren't delivered in the morning digest. That [up to 30 hours] seems an unreasonable delay to me. Me too. I'm "pretty sure" it was prompted by some folks who received a pair of digests nearly back-to-back (i.e.: bracketed by the 0600 hour) and thought something was broken. Not sufficient reason, IMO, but it is what it is.
