If nothing else it sets out in fairly simple terms what the On Line
Safety Act is there to achieve.

What that guidance doesn't cover, is the exemptions to the requirements of the act. Specifically, and what would be of most concern to groups.io list managers, is the exemption relating to email only groups.

The articles I've read have either ignored that exemption, or been extremely unclear as where those parameters lie.

Perfectly true, but compliance with GDPR and compliance with the requirements of the On Line Safety Act are not one and the same thing.?

Both Harriet (in her original post) and Andy Wedge (in a later one) referred to a and I strongly suggest that anyone with concerns should read it before worrying any further. GDPR Compliance
We¡¯re committed to helping Groups.io customers and users understand, and where applicable, comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The GDPR is the most comprehensive EU data privacy law in decades, and went into effect on May 25, 2018.
?
Here is a list of measures we have taken to comply with the GDPR:
?
. ?Support for international data transfers by executing Standard Contractual Clauses through our updated Data Processing Agreement.
?
. ?Offering data portability and data management tools including:
? ? ?- Enhanced Group Export. We have improved our existing group export system so that now group owners can export all aspects of a group.
? ? ?- Account Export. Export a complete copy of all the data we have for you.
? ? ?- Account Deletion. Delete your Groups.io account.
. ?A Cookie Policy that outlines the cookies that we use and why we use them.
. ?An updated Privacy Policy.

Re: Online Safety Act (UK)

We have a grand total of 12 members in our Group - I know them all as they have to be paid up members of our Astronomical Society.
?
I've just gone through Ofcom's regulation checker for the act () and answered six, what seemed like straight forward questions and found that: "Yes, the Online Safety Act does apply to your service."
?
I suspect Ofcom will have no interest in investigating our group and I'd be a bit surprised if they wished to impose a fine of up to ?18 million on our society. I don't think our members' subscriptions would cover this.
?
I note that Ofcom has published information to help organisations and their lawyers achieve compliance with the new Act - it amounts to more than 2,000 pages.
?
Although being retired I must have a lot of spare time on my hand, I'm not inclined to study this information.
?
Are any Group Owners or Moderators here going through the legislation to fulfil the legal obligations?
?
Cheer,

The number of members in your group is what shows on the group home page. ?It doesn't matter how they join, invited or not.
?
The website says:?
"When you are billed for your group, either monthly or yearly, we look at the number of members you have at that moment. A member is defined as a confirmed, non-pending, non-banned member of your main group."
Use "calculate your costs" to see based on your group size.
Scroll to the bottom of the page.

Re: using groups.io to do a survey

I seem to remember seeing once that Groups has a facility to do a survey, but can¡¯t find anything about it in the Owner Manual.
Does the facility exist and, if so, how does one use it?

Are you using/have you checked it on an app?

Here is the screen on the iOS app:

How to set one member to Override: moderated (Save Button missing)

Hello all.? I've read the documentation on how to change a member from "Use Group Moderation Setting" to "Moderated" however, the process is not working as per the docs.
?
Click Admin, then Members.
Find or Search for Member, then Click the Member.
Scroll down to Posting Privileges.
Change Moderation as needed.
Click Save.
?
The problem is that the Save button does not appear:
?
?
I do not want to 'send message' or 'ban' or 'cancel' -- I want to SAVE.? What am I doing wrong?
?
Thanks in advance!

There's no option from the /groups page to get directly to the home page of an individual group. I guess you could raise that as a #suggestion on the but as it's only two clicks to get from the groups page to the home page of any group, I'm not sure how much traction that would get.
