Elias, Try this...? Go to your group?/g/YourGroupsName Halfway or lower on the page will be a list of Group Email Addresses Cut-n-paste the Group Owners email address into your email program...?? It should look something like this; [email protected] When/if you get that email that is the email address you have to use when you logging to Groups.io... It may help if we/I knew the name of your group...? We/you could look through the groups old emails if they are public of when you first created/emailed the group...? You may see your original email address...? YourFunnyName@......? That's the address you will need to use when you login to Groups.io...? Hopefully your browser has saved the password OR you have a password manager... Dallas N4DDM

For a real email account, no, unless they owned/have access to the Groups.io domain and its mail server. But practically, anyone could start a new group for just themselves and give out that address, and the emails will end up being posted to the group archives, provided that group was setup to accept non-member posts, otherwise they would be rejected. Have you tried going to that group address to see what info is shown on its home is provided? If you're online and logged in, you can click on Find or Create a group link on the blue bar uptop and search for the [initials] part of the address they used, but they may have it as not-listed in the directory so better yet, substitute it in here, /g/[initials] then copy and paste that into your browser. If it errors out then that was a bogus email address, no clue why they gave that address specifically, could had been anything for that matter if the intent was to give a fake address. If that group exists, what does it show? How many members, what are the Group Settings, etc. Cheers, Christos |

Groups.io doesn't allow a group without an owner so if you created it and don't see any Admin options when? you log in, that strongly suggests that you have at least two accounts and have logged in with the wrong one.? Have you tried sending a message to your group owner account? If you were set up to receive those, which ever email address receives it is the one you should login with.

Some folks have been successful importing that using Lena's Perl script. I am not one of them, although I admit I didn't try very hard. It takes awhile to run, because it reposts them to the [sub]group under your name, 40 messages per hour. I don't know how successful groups.io is rebuilding the database from that (threading them back into topics, making things searchable, etc.).
?
In the past, Mark has sometimes imported messages for someone in return for paying for a year of Premium ($220).
?
Another option is to import it as a folder in your email client. Several common clients have that capability. Having done that, you can print them all out as one long PDF and put it in your Files area. That's what I did with several groups when Yahoo Groups shut down. A caveat: I think you may be overestimating the utility of those old messages. I have no evidence that anyone has ever downloaded those PDF files, much less read them.?
?
Hope this helps,
Bruce

Barring that, you may be able to import the messages yourself using Lena's script once you've got the messages, if it still exists.? Keep in mind that using the script will cause all messages imported to be credited to you.

Import content from a groups.io group that's closing?
A Mac User group that had been using the free groups.io interface is closing its doors.? I'm in a sister group that is absorbing some of its members.? Our group has a professional groups.io account and we would like to archive some of the closing group's message content in our account.? The closing group has messages and one subgroup.? We'd like to archive the main group's messages and bring the subgroup message content into one of our extant subgroups.?
?
Can we do that, and if so how?

Re: Questions about ADMIN of group
Hi Maggie,
I had a look at your group, and also applied for membership. So you as the group owner should receive that membership request. this is just to try and help you with your member list.
Questions regarding your member list:
- how do you access groups.io and your group - web browser on PC or Mac, or the groups.io app on a mobile phone? I¡®m excluding email, as in that way you couldn¡®t see a list of members anyway.
- do you see the ?admin¡° heading on the left hand side of the screen?
if you see ?admin¡° and are selecting the ?members¡° item underneath that, I assume you receive a list with just 1 item. Are you sure that the ?search¡° box above the list is empty (and no leftover blanks are in it!)? Just in case try to clear it and click/tap on the search icon again.
The home page of your group says that it has 48 members - so you should be able to see them, unless you accidentally clicked on the ?bulk remove¡° heading under ?membership¡°.
?
Kind regards
Thomas

Is it possible you have inadvertently filtered the list of members?? If they are still receiving messages then it would seem they are indeed still members. ?
