Re: #Question - can you push an email to someone who has chosen "No Mail"
#question
The owner or moderator with permissions can disable "no mail" choice in Admin, Preferences. If that happens, any members that are currently No Mail automatically get the email status of "special notices only".?
?
If the owner uses Special Notices cautiously, ?just when it is really necessary to contact all members, it shouldn't cause too much grief for those who don't want mail and just want to read online.
?
I prefer disallowing No Mail because I want to be able to send a Special Notice very occasionally and hope that I can reach all members.

?
Otherwise, no.

#Question - can you push an email to someone who has chosen "No Mail"
#question
Hi All,
?
I just looked at the Wiki and aren't sure where to find info about whether you can "push" an email to someone who has chosen "No Mail".
?
A member is having a problem in another group and said the old yahoogroups did.? So I'm assuming it may be there but I don't know how to do it.
?
Any and all help appreciated.
?
Sincerely,

The photos I copied into this post still exist on Facebook. If the image URL ever changes, then your browser will no longer be able to fetch it.

Also, it sometimes happens that access to the image requires some kind of authentication (you must first log in, or you have to join this FB group, etc). Your post may look good to you while you're still logged into the other site's portal, but no one else can see the linked content because they aren't.
?
It's always best to download or otherwise make a copy of an image and use that in your post.?

Doesn't posting a link only provide the member a path to the file, not render the image? It does. But I would suggest this is more effective use of MIPS and interweb bandwidth than sending the same image out to every individual in the Group. ?

I can't remember what happens to the main group URL after you add and then remove subgroups.

However, to add to Malcolm's comment, you can also change a subgroup's visibility in the menu on the main group so only subgroup members see it. And delete all subgroup members but yourself. This doesn't mean that you can make a private subgroup visible or not to the general public. See

I could've sworn this was the behavior when I tested this half an hour ago, but it's not doing it now.

At this point I'm bewildered too.

Is this a recent change? As previously said, I don't know. It could be. ?

Why does ">>>" occasionally come across as a BQ triple indent, and sometimes come across as was intended, as text?? Ken -- This is an entirely different question.
?
In the actual message - and in outgoing emails - the sequence of greater-than signs are retained as typed. They are only converted to blockquotes for display on the web site.*
?
If you insert a space character between them and any subsequent text, they will not be displayed as blockquotes.
?
I cannot speak to what anyone's email client may be doing with them.

*I would be receptive to a change to suppress this behavior.

Bruce
it does make some sense but, of course, a Mod should be able to make that type of change (say Bold the text.)

VERY strange goings on, but at least I now know why the Toolbar is gone.
Thanks!

I'm getting the image below when looking at some of my past posts with screenshots, even though at the time I posted them they looked fine Nichole -- There are a number of things that could cause this.

- All images and files in messages are stored as attachments. If you have the group set up to "delete old attachments" they will eventually disappear.
- Deleting any image from the Emailed Photos folder will also remove it from the message.
- If the image was inserted as a link to somewhere else (<IMG> tag), and that image is subsequently removed at the source, a broken link will be displayed.
?
To sort this out further we will need more details on exactly what you've been doing.

Yes, even plain text messages are doing this. The message itself still contains the greater-than sign but it's converted into indents for display.
I'm unsure if this is new behavior. I do suggest that if you're switching back and forth between plain text and html in your group settings some anomalies can be expected.
