Can Members view their own Activity

Is there a way for Member to view their own Activity?

Some Members post 'on the fly' only to delete and repost the same, but modified message(s).

It might be useful if they could view their Activity when asking Members to instead proofread their messages before posting, deleting, and re-posting, etc.

Thanks,
Michael

If your group isn't Restricted, all they have to do is join again.? A better option might be to ban them.

In a word, no.? This has been an ongoing complaint, but no action has been taken by management.

They will get the Removed Member notice if you have an active one defined.

To the best of my knowledge, a member does not receive a notification unless you send one out yourself. That they have been removed. Of course, it will become quite obvious, if they check your homepage/their email. And they noticed that they're not getting mail from your group.

How to globally remove photos/files from messages

Hello friends...

On the forum I moderate, I have set up an area for files and another for photos.? I encourage members to put photo in the photo folders and files in the file folders as well as add notes and information.

However, I do allow people to attach photos and files to emails set to the forum, with the idea that they, at some point, would move them to the photo and file area. For the most part, that never happens.

I am trying to keep a handle on how much data my forum takes up.? I have a massive amount of photos and such that have been attaches to messages to the forum.? I need to delete them.

Is a way possible for me to globally delete all the photos/files attached to messages in one shot?? The amount of photos has gotten so huge that doing this one photo at a time is driving me crazy because I have so many.

Is it possible to globally remove all the photos that are sent with messages to the forum in one command?? And if so, can someone spell that out to me?

If anyone from Group IO is here, maybe you can add a command like that if it is not available?

Many thanks,

Jack

Yes, they do.? Every photo/attachment takes storage space, even duplicates.

LOST LIST OWNER

After combing thru the archives and wiki I have gleamed the following from the information.? I just need to make sure my understanding is correct.
If list has one owner and that individual becomes unavailable, and no second owner exists the group is basically lost as it cannot gain new members and if moderated no messages will be processed.

If this is correct how do you go about dumping the list?

I am a moderator in the previously mentioned list but do not have privileges to control list.

Re: Emailed Photos Album

I don't know if original messages that contain photos that people reply to, without stripping out the photos before replying, count towards more space used. In my case what they do, is create a? jumbled mess of redundant photos in the Emailed Photo album. Generally the first photos from the original message (if photos are attached), or the first reply to the original message that contains an attached photo, will create the blue Message button under the photo in Emailed Photos, and if clicked on allows people to jump to the discussion surrounding that photo. Every time that message with the first photo is replied too, 'without' stripping out the photo before sending, will create a duplicate picture in the Emailed Photo album. If more people replying to this message thread do not strip out the photo before sending, more photos are duplicated until the thread ends. That could amount to a whole lot off redundant pictures!

What I stay aware of as the owner and moderator of my group is the duplication of pictures/attachments in the Emailed Photo album, and I manually delete any additional pictures/attachments 'after' the first ones posted. Not only does this keep the Emailed Photo album easier to view, it also points you to the first discussion pertaining to that picture/attachment. My members are pretty good about stripping out messages, so the work of keeping that album organized and tight is pretty easy.

Re: Invitation to join not being received

Hi Bruce,
we are a legacy group of now 1100 members that I migrated from yahoo in January 2018. I am hoping my problem was with Comcast and not groups.io. I¡¯ve never had an invite to disappear into cyberspace. In the near future I¡¯m sure I will be adding new members. We will see what happens.
Thanks for all you do.

Re: Emailed Photos Album

Tagging on to the end of this debate about whether "Emailed" and "message attachments count double" toward the storage total ...

Has the issue with no way to do multiple deletions been resolved?!

Message attachments can result in doubles or more of the images because of quoted replies. In the worst case we have a member with an image in his signature. So we have hundreds of copies of that in the "Emailed" folder.

I suggest at minimum, be able to

  1. Automatically delete redundant identical files - just by name & size.
  2. Select multiple images with a checkbox (with a filter, I can dream) and delete them.
  3. Have deletions of the "Emailed" link cause removal of the of the attachment in the message.

Re: cannot add a new member

Sorry to state the obvious, but has that person gone to the website, searched, and then tried to join there?

Have they tried the [groupname][email protected] option?
A message to [groupname][email protected] will not prompt admission to your group.

There is no way to modify it.

When I put a ¡°personalized¡± message in the box below it tacked on the text from the standard message. ?Is that the way it¡¯s supposed to work???
Yes.

For legal reasons, the invitation must include certain information and give the invitee an opportunity to opt out. Groups.io cannot assume you will include that in your personalized message.

2. ?I¡¯m using a spare email to test the invite scenarios so my process is to delete the spare email from our group and test a new scenario. ?When I do that I get a message that my spare email is already registered. ?Am I missing something?
I may be misunderstanding you, but I'll take a stab at this...

Unsubscribing from the group does not "unregister" the account. They are two separate things. To provide more details we'll need to know exactly what the error message says.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Is it a free (Basic) group? How many members do you have?

If you're around 100 members, weird things like this can happen. It could be you were able to add this new guy for no other reason than someone else started bouncing.
